When you clear away all the clutter, the reasoning behind Lumumba's election was very simple. People were ready for change. Lee and to a lesser extent Lumumba represented that. However when it came down to the 2 candidates, Lee's campaign and Lee himself was the deciding factor. He never closed the deal with the black community and there were votes(like mine) that he had or should've had that ended up not voting or going the other way. The Black professional class should've been his natural allies, instead they were split. His misleading personal narrative caught up with him and the negative ad against Lumumba(REFERENCING HIS RELIGION) backfired. And that WAPT profile and the last debate were devastating. He just didn't come off as Mayoral material.

Correct, and even younger people with money can't find good housing, because no new upscale subdivisions are being built, and
JR's parents age group got a death hold on those formerly white areas from the mid 80's so people with good salaries have to move to Byram, madison etc etc[/QUOTE]

Very true.

When will folks stop blaming the government and look at many of the citizens? North Jackson is thriving, has low crime and the schools in North Jackson are fairly decent.
When a sizable percentage of one's population is stagnant and depends on government handouts and are engaged in criminal activity, how can this be blamed on a mayor or city council?

When 70 percent of families are headed by ONE bread-winner, how is this the mayor's fault? This type of scenario can and is found in most major cities around the nation. That's just the way it is.

You really think North Jackson is thriving Jayrob? Norwood, Valley North, Northgate, even Woodhaven are not like they used to be. They ain't bad. But they are not like it was when I grew up around those neighborhoods. Callaway may do okay in Basketball. But academically it aint the same as it used to be. And every major city ain't bad like that Jayrob. Sure it is people. But the leaders failed the people by not being progressive in the 80s and 90s to recruit business to Jackson. JSU should have blown up way before now. Just think if all this expansion to JSU had happened in the 80s and early 90s. They didn't take advantage of having a good Medical Center. A lot of good doctors got training there and moved on. The roads have been bad for years and just got worse. Even in some decent neighborhoods. Nobody was thinking progressively. I remember former Gov Bill Allain telling the whole state in the 80s that we were losing our best and brightest to other states because of the stagnant ways of the people in power. So I blame everybody. The old white political guard, the blacks who did get into power and influence and yes the people in the state who took their votes for granted and allowed some of these knuckleheads to rule. When we had some progressive folks like Sec Nav Ray Mabus as Gov, we allowed him to get voted out because we didn't turn out for our own state elections. But I digress.

I think the debate killed Lee, all he had to do was act like he knew a little something about how city government works
and those on the fence would have swayed in his favor, instead he got taken to school.

Chokwe needs to build the tax base by creating a toll for any cars coming into Jackson. The folks living in Madison, Rankin and surrounding areas make their living working in Jackson but take their tax dollars back to their neighborhoods when the day is over with. They should be held accountable because they're using Jackson's road's, infrastructures, law enforcement etc.

You know damn well that will not happen. He will end up dead in a ditch somewhere. LOL. No city has done anything like that and the State of MS would be in his arse over it. Where you going to be a toll road at? On UNITED STATES HWY 55. Not state hwy. Are you going to put it on UNITED STATES Hwy 20? Good luck with that.

I agree. Then you always have this black folks vs the white folks 60s mentality alive and well on both sides in Jackson and the surrounding areas.

i was gonna buy a house in JR's family hood, I only saw one for sale sign and to me it was the ugliest house in the area

You make excellent points, but they don't jibe with your earlier stance regarding the Mayoral race. It appears that jackson's issues are a symptom of being in a state like Mississippi, that does not value it's capital city. This is beyond any single Mayoral race, so why co-sign this crazy idea that this last election was some sort of death knell? What was it about Lee that makes you think he could fight against what you just posted?

Commonsense would at least lead you to look up the man's website to find out what his plans are. He has participated in several mayoral debates and each time laid out his plan for the city? Why continue to repeat the SAME thing he's already said.

Simply go to the man's website and see what his plans are for yourself instead of just ranting:

https://www.facebook.com/ElectChokweLumumbaMayorOfJacksonMs

As far as reminding Black folks of their history and accomplishments, which MANY didn't know, what's wrong with that? That's only .1 percent part of the man's plan.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Obama didn't straighten out this nation in four years did he? No.

:retard:

You can't be serious. But, you're JayRob so I know that you are.

According to you, when people read an interview a political candidate gives A DAY AFTER THE ELECTION we should ignore what he says in that interview and go to his website to find out what he really thinks. Especially if what he says in that first interview is racially divisive because COMMON SENSE is on the website, not what comes out of his mouth the day after the election. Common sense surely wouldn't tell him to talk about a divisive issue that cannot help his city or its citizens.

Who is handling public relations for this guy? Where is Crit when you need her? Dammit. I'm about to blame all of this shat on her. :kaioken:

And what's wrong with "reminding Black folks of their 'history'"? The simple fact that it's not true. Lumumba or no one else living today has any proof that Africans were the first to discover America. Changing the history books to say that would be just as inaccurate as saying Columbus discovered America. Actually, there is evidence that many people from many different cultures had contact with the Americas before Columbus. Chinese, Japanese, Polynesian, Africans and, yes, even other Europeans. WE DON'T KNOW who the first people to visit America were.

However, changing the history books to say that does fit with his agenda to say that the people were BLACK.

What's wrong with it is that it's a LIE, first of all. Secondly, it's not an effective use of time considering the many other more important issues that Jackson faces TODAY. Right now.

There are other things that much more important that need to be addressed and focusing on crap like this shows me that this guy is confused about what his responsibility will really be and that he's not fit to be mayor.

put it on the city streets right off the exits

didn't read this long post but you're saying something about Africans, and america? Please don't put words in the man's mouth
he has enough just dealing with what he actually says

Jackson hasn't fallen apart.

From what it was when I was growing up, it has. Not that everything was great. But you have to remember I grew up in the 70s and 80s in Jackson and it just felt better off than it is now. I hear my relatives and people complain all the time. I see neighborhoods that used to look nice, look bad. I see no real businesses in Jackson city limits. Everything on the outskirts or edge of Jackson. I watched Madison county become the new North Jackson. It just ain't the same and folks I know who grew up with me feel the same whether they went to Provine, Callaway, Murrah, Lanier etc... The ones who could get out, got out and you can't pay them to come back home to live. Not even in retirement. That is a sad commentary. The ones who I know who are still there, a lot of them want to get out but got stuck there for whatever reasons which is on them and not the city itself.

This is no smack or a SU vs JSU thing. But it pains me to see Baton Rouge even with idiot Jindal in the Gov's mansion, doing better than Jackson. They get businesses to move in the BR city limits and they are definitely more progressive than my hometown. When I first left Jackson for college. Both cities were about what and what. Today it is not even equal. Well maybe in liking porn or crime. LOL. Seriously it is no reason for Jackson to not be a crown jewel of the deep South in one of the prettiest states in the US. The white and black folk in the home state have been stuck on stupid for quite awhile and not willing to work together to change the stereotype and take that next step. Then allowing ones who would have been progressive to leave the state and prosper and pay taxes somewhere else. The ATL is full of native Jacksonians, so is Dallas, Houston, Memphis and the list goes on. Folks felt like they had no other choice but to leave.

But JR who isn't working with whom?
whites not working with blacks or blacks not working with whites?

JR MS just pasted some law making one these months Confederate month if you think, it's only about money and not money and race in MS you are incorrect.

No, I just said you got both sides white and black still stuck in the 60s. So that agrees with your point that it is not just about money. If it was, everybody would work together. I know damn well them necks want to keep Ms ignorant and don't care what the rest of the world thinks. I may not live there now. But I know how them mofos think. Just like there are some blacks who will never and I mean never want to work with them white folks to do anything because of the distrust and the ongoing racism that lives. Then you got the blacks who hate other blacks just because as well. Nothing new. That is the problem. It's nothing new and hasn't changed.

This ain't New York.
You build a toll road leading into Jackson and it would be a real ghost town within a year. Every major business downtown to North Jackson would move right across the county line.

you're right
the Confederate flag flies in MS,
so why can't MS have one chocolate, Pan African city in this wasteland? :lmao:

JR MS just pasted some law making one these months Confederate month if you think, it's only about money and not money and race in MS you are incorrect.

C'mon son.
That shat has about as much pull as Confederate Memorial day.
It don't mean shat and Mississippi ain't the only Southern state with that mess.

Ah, county line is black now :lmao:

Jackson don't fly the State flag over City Property.
Hinds county voted against the current state flag.

Ah, county line is black now :lmao:

Yep................ any more jokes because you sure don't have any substance.
You got to be on Stokes team. You sound just like them fools when they out making speaches. A lot of one liners that don't make one bit of sense, always dodging the truth. can't even comprehend what people are saying.

What one liner you got next?

But JR who isn't working with whom?
whites not working with blacks or blacks not working with whites?

Nobody is working with nobody enough. I am sure there are some pockets where both work together trying to help the state and even just whites or just blacks themselves trying to right the ship. But not enough across the board to make a difference. You look at Texas. They got necks too. But them mofos are about the money. Houston has an openly Lesbian Mayor. San Antonio has the dynamic Castro Brother and the other is in congress and Dallas and Austin both have different style mayors. Then you have crazy arse Rick Perry. But they all come together to make something happen for the state or their respective cities. Rick Perry was in California telling businesses to bring their arse to Texas and then went to Illinois and told them the same thing. Is that idiot Gov in Ms doing the same? Or does he want to keep Ms segregated from the rest of the country. That's how dumb them white folks in Ms are. The rest of the South is laughing at their arses. Well some of the South. But you get my point. You couldn't pay a neck from Texas to move to Ms even if they raised the confederate flag and said every day was a holiday for Dixie. LOL. That is the perception the state has allowed folks to have.

83 we ain't talkin' bout Stokes, that's another huge thread by itself :lmao:
