Breaking My Silence on Pastor Charles Jenkins....

Okay how about Dahmer?

For every non-religious mass murderer I can name you ten religious mass murderers. You can too. LOL!

You haven't presented one ounce of evidence contradicting the statement that atheists/non-religious folks have the lowest crime rates, lowest murder rate and lowest divorce rate versus their religious counterparts. Why is that?

They say "A fool and his money are soon parted", can't say the same for A fool and his religion.

I must confess, I was once that fool. Was lost but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see.:lol:

I still can't get those EIGHT years of adultery off my mind, and the church congregation STILL left this man as their leader? What's that saying to the young folks? You can sin for eight years but as long as you can magically be forgiven, then it's not a proble? All I can say is "WOW".:smh:

Everybody ... Nevermind.

Whats up dacon? Long time no hear from you. You were one of the few ones to at least try and explain why you believe what you believe.
Not very convincing, but at least you weren't afraid to state your case as best you could.
Do you think this pastor should've stepped down?

This thread has been beyond amusing to me. Insightful even. A reminder:

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

I Corinthians 1: 18 - 31 KJV

:)

Disputers confounded. Don't understand. Can't figure it out. It makes no sense to them. Their "reasoning" and search for "proof" is failing them.

Hmmm.

I wonder why ....

The above is another excuse. Really it's the oldest excuse to not discuss the bible and what's in it.
Do you REALLY believe the sun stopped in midstream for a whole day without other cultures recording this bit of important information?
Do you really believe that evil spirits are the cause of diseases as is taught in the bible? If you REALLY did, would you bother going to the doctor or taking medicine?
Do you believe that one man killed a THOUSAND men with a jawbone of an ass? One man killing a THOUSAND BY HIMSELF?!

Are you serious, yet have the nerve to say I don't understand, yet you claim to believe the above? Please!!

And one more thing sujagfan and please answer: how can non-religious folks have better marriages, more stable families, less violent crimes and lower divorce rates than religious folks and without the presence of any god or holy spirit? How and why is that?
Anyone can answer.

I saw this guy today on the Stellar Salute to Mothers...He hasn't missed a stroke, literally...his church is cool with his actions, I guess his family/wife is cool with what he told her, the gospel music world is good...he will quietly pay this lady the money he owes her and keep it moving...speaks volume about the religions we follow...

Always remember and never forget that religion is first last and always PERSONAL. We lead religion far more than we ever follow it.

Just another reason why I don't believe in mega churches (I know a number of small time pastors do their dirt as well but not to this extent)

Of course. Step down and go through the process of restoration. We've been down this path before. The scriptures are clear.

This is surprising coming from you. Last time you didn't seem to agree with the minister stepping down at all. You seem to have grown a lot over the past few months.

I grew up in a small town full of small church pastors who were doing dirt. As a matter of fact, even nationally you see more small church preachers in the news for molestation, adultery and other crimes.

I ask you these questions not to mock but to truly find answers. If a God called him to preach, then why that same God not call for him to step down ANYTIME over that eight year period? Also, Jay Rob made a point that nobody has address yet. How can I tell my son to have respect for women and my daughter to have respect for herself when every day in the news there is a preacher committing adultery? And having a college degree is not a validation of an education. A college degree only means you can be taught how to do something. If I can be taught Accounting, why your God can’t make me see his existence? If he is so powerful or if he exist at all, he should know how to make me see what you see very easily. I’m 51 years old, I have more yesterdays than tomorrows. Everlasting life would be a sweet deal for me right now. If I could see evidence in a way I can understand of his existence, then I have no reason to reject him. Unless he is like man’s churches that are more concerned with excluding than including like a social club. I may not believe in your God, but I ask you because I’m convinced in your commitment to him?

While I appreciate the acknowledgement of the position on the scriptures, your recollection of "Last time" would seem to be in error.

Still, I ain't mad at ya.

I am going to take this in pieces so I can address what can be addressed directly.
I ask you these questions not to mock but to truly find answers. If a God called him to preach, then why that same God not call for him to step down ANYTIME over that eight year period? ...
You nor I can answer that question. Charles Jenkins can. Perhaps God did tell him that and Jenkins ignored it.

... Also, Jay Rob made a point that nobody has address yet. How can I tell my son to have respect for women and my daughter to have respect for herself when every day in the news there is a preacher committing adultery? ...
You tell your son to have respect for women and your daughter to have respect for herself and model it for them so they get it right. You teach them what the Scriptures say about love and fidelity and you model it for them. Be the priest of your home and the leader of your family.

...And having a college degree is not a validation of an education. A college degree only means you can be taught how to do something. If I can be taught Accounting, why your God can’t make me see his existence? If he is so powerful or if he exist at all, he should know how to make me see what you see very easily...
You refer to my God's ability to make you do something. All things are possible with my God. His ability is never in question. Omnipotence is just one of His characteristics. The better question might be why He does not force anyone to see His existence. The answer to the question is that He wants you do love Him in the manner that He loves.

I am a teacher and a good one. Parents sometimes ask why their child is not learning in my classes. They look right past the fact that their child is a social butterfly who lies to them every day about homework. (Yes, I assign homework EVERY day.) The child does not take notes, is inattentive, never brings paper or a writing instrument to class, he tests poorly, and intercepts the letters that I have sent home to inform them of his lack of progress and asks them for their help. The problem is not that I am not teaching. While you may not resemble anything of that example, it could be that God has been showing you Himself and you have just not been dialed-in.

I'm 52 years old. Everlasting life is a sweet deal and it is why I have more tomorrows than yesterdays.

... Unless he is like man’s churches that are more concerned with excluding than including like a social club. I may not believe in your God, but I ask you because I’m convinced in your commitment to him?
I recommend you avoid churches that act like social clubs. There are some great churches out there that are really after what matters to God. From what you have written here, I am convinced that you are interested in finding one. If I am right about that then you will...and your eyes will come open ... and you will see that God has been showing Himself to you for some time now.

I ask you to forget about me, JayRob, TSPNSPORTS, social club churches, and all of the rest of the "stuff" that gets in the way in order to simply ask God to show Himself to you. Then, give yourself a little time to see.

Blessings on ya.

Nall she just uses the church to get a pay check playing the piano on Sundays. We call that a nikker getting over. :lmao:

Lol... CT, prob be talking about the pastor and choir director underneath her breath while playing the piano.

:lmao: Nah, I ain't bamboozling...I been told them I'm allergic to church and they are more than welcome to get someone else to play...but they are convinced I'm playing...:noidea: and ask ;me to stay. I've even done piano lessons cause I'm thinking, when a chap learns a chord good...I'm gone...and the chaps quit coming...**sigh** I'm not an atheist...just not a fan or organized religion anymore. I very much believe in One God...just don't believe the King James version of the Bible is an honest translation. I would love to read what the Timbuktu bibles they just unearthed have in them....

I didn't acknowledge any scripture, I acknowledged your change of opinion as far as the minister stepping down.
Last time I remember when Pastor Long was caught with the boy, in the conversation, you didn't seem to think he should step down.
Now you're saying this minister should step down.
