So no matter the evidence, you'll still keep your opinion?:snicker:
If that's true, that's not very logical nor practical.
No one can provide evidence that God doesn't exist.... so your point is moot.

O.K., so we have another one. I seriously don’t understand why stuff like this is still considered news. However, reading the many stories like this makes it so easy on me. I’ve been a closet Atheist for about 30 years because of Christian backlash. Because of stories like this, now I’m starting to be truthful about my religious belief to close friends and family. With my kids grown now, I don’t have to fear repercussions on my family from fanatics consumed with zealotry. Christians can be dangerous if you don’t believe the way they WANT you to believe. Condoning the molestation of children can get you made a Saint but being an Atheist can get you killed. But I know the drill . . . all sinners can be SAVED by confessing your sins, asking for forgiveness, and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. . . regardless of what wrong you did and most importantly how many times you did it. This “escape clause†makes all Christians free to do whatever, to whomever, and whenever with no consequences of their actions. How can a “being†be supreme with these set of standards with so many loopholes? Oh wait, I forgot, the other escape clause, I’m not supposed to understand everything.
"I’ve been a closet Atheist for about 30 years because of Christian backlash."
Ditto minus about 25 yrs. I like to consider myself as more of a 'moderate Christian', eliminating the big hat/ascot wearing, scripture quoting bigots who'll do anything to collect the tithe.
Escape clause Huh? There's no loopholes for people to do whatever they want without consequences. People have suffered major consequences for sins throughout the bible and certainly today. And condoning molestation makes you a Saint but being atheist can get you killed? What country are you talking about? Have you been threatened?
Is the pastor in this story getting rewarded, or suffering a consequence?
You tell me.....he has the support of his wife, church and even strangers on the net but the woman is seemingly getting all of the consequences and back-lash lol
Folks in here are condemning him, so the woman is not getting ALL the backlash. His wife's choice to stick with him publicly is not a "Christian" or church thing, as many women have stuck with cheating men throughout time and societies.
Folks use instances like this to say or imply "they all heathens, that's why I don't -----" while living with many more non-Christians who do the same thing.
Well, Idk what you are saying but a man of God should try REALLY hard to not have an affair with someone for 8 years. Was God talking to him those eight years ? God never said, "Don't do this, you are the leader of my church!?" It is really funny to ask your church for money, preach to them about what is right and wrong according to God but then turn around and commit one of the 10 sins lol that's all I'm saying. Yes, we chill with people who are non-Christians or do non-Christian things but the difference is, I'm not paying them lol and I'm not looking at them as someone I should follow. He is tho lol
No one can provide evidence that God doesn't exist.... so your point is moot.
^^^ same....except when I describe my beliefs to people they say I'm a "universalist". Im not that either lol I prefer to not put a title on my relationship with a supreme being. I still tell people I'm a Christian because I grew up as one but slowly my belief in that religion is crumbling.

This is lengthy but very interesting to say the least...

A couple of weeks ago I was chatting with a preacher friend of mine and he asked,"Have you seen that picture of Pastor Charles Jenkins naked?" HUH? "What picture," he then directed me to a blog that had a picture of my former pastor Rev. Charles Jenkins brushing his teeth naked. The picture had allegedly been taken by a person other than his wife with a claim of extortion.
My heart sank for this public display of his naked body but as I watched the story unfold that week it became unsettling for me on so many different levels. Everyone had an opinion, but mostly there was an attack on the "other woman."
It's sad how we race to watch Scandal and hope that one day Olivia will get her man, but when it comes to a "real affair" we tar and feather the other woman. I watched the debate on that blog and on social media as people diced "her" up, but at the same time forgave him and really, no one knew if in fact there was any details as to how the picture actually arrived in the hands of that blogger. I kept my silence with the exception of close friends. I mean, he was my former pastor and he was naked. It was the hottest conversation that week. *hangs head*
On Easter Sunday, six days after the posting of the picture, Pastor Jenkins made his first public comment. With the cameras off, and his wife, Dr. Tara Jenkins by his side, Rev. Jenkins told his congregation that he in fact had an affair with a woman. He said that he had already asked his wife for forgiveness and was now appealing to the church asking the same. He went on to name this woman and claimed that she was now extorting him.

I said you cannot prove that God DOESN'T exist. You can't prove that heaven, hell or God exist, but you can prove decomposition when some dies, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the End. :dead:
There it is. You experienced one (church folks), and not the other (christianity). You seem to have grown up with or lived around people who experienced one and not the other. At least you acknowledge the difference between man religions, and christ relationships.I was actually set on fire in college. All because some follower of Christ BELIEVED I was a devil worshiper. And yes, I've been physically attacked and lost a job for saying I was an Atheist. After I got married and had kids, I saw life was simpler just saying I'm a Christian and go to church. I even made my kids go to keep up appearances. I was so good at looking like a church member. My church wanted to make me a deacon. That's when I stopped going. Nobody thought to even ask me did I believe in God. Even so, now I see there's a difference between Christianity and church folks. Some have been going through the motion for so long the two have gotten confused.

Let's not start a holy war in here because it will turn into a circular debate that leads to a bridge to nowhere like what occurred all too often in the Prayer Board
Any time one brings up "religion", there's always a chance that this sort of debate will arise. No need to be afraid of talking about it, then again, there is for many and for obvious reasons.
...this is why our country should legalize Age 21 and Up Prostitution. It downright scares me the influence these shows like Real Housewives of ATL, Basketball Wives, etc. have on our women of today. The need for money, power, and respect has consumed the female, creating a false sense of independence in a mind frame devoid of human emotion.
Since wives love to exhort in various methods (public embarrassment, child support, etc.), I say legalize age 21 and Up prostitution. The escorts, porn stars, etc. know what it is and do not question what must be done. But I GUARANTEE YOU the main ones who would be AGAINST legalizing Age 21 and Up Prostitution would ironically be the Mimi Fausts, Evelyn Lodazas, the NeNes, etc. of the world. Think about it. If they are so independent then why do they need men in their lives? Easy: Men can access wealth quicker and faster. Get married, pregnant, etc., the woman gets a piece of the pie. BUT, what if these wealthy men start utilizing legal prostitutes to satisfy the need? They only lose the money spent on the prostitute instead of child support, marriage, etc.
First of all, WHICH "god" are you referring too?
