Oklahoma, Texas have approached SEC about joining conference

This isn't the swac. That traveling well argument means nothing to schools who can sell out on their own. Its not about attendance; its tv and both Texas and OU have national brands regardless of how competitive they are.. No school in the SEC is turning down an additional $10-20 million

How are they gonna get this extra money? They just signed a 10 deal with Disney for their athletic broadcast in December which runs thru 2034. Are they suppose to go back and say we need more money because we added 2 more teams? It just makes the current 3 Billion Dollar split less to each school going from 14 to 16.

If this happens and the SEC keeps the divisional format then they may have to consider splitting Bama and Auburn and have them be permanent cross division rivals.

SEC East
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

SEC West
Alabama
Arkansas
LSU
MS State
Ole Piss
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

Yes. I don't care either way but contracts are renegotiated all the time. With the exception of Alabama, who in the SEC has a bigger national football brand than Texas and OU? Texas doesn't win shit but they deliver ratings.. Thats a hell of a bargaining chip to go back to the table.

Exactly. It's the same thing the AAC was hoping to do but this is all but going to doom them. Big 12 will have no choice but to add at least 2 teams.

Dr. Commish tried to told you all that Conference realignments were coming. Some said that he did not know what he was talking about. Seems the light skinneded Guy may have had some foresight. The SWAC is 12 member HBCU strong.

I think they will have to get rid of the East/West format. Some teams would never play each other for eight plus years.

What’s the alternative?
4 four team pods...... they've already been laid out. Each pod member will play every team in its pod every season & 2 schools from each other pod & rotate every 2 seasons. And they're going to a 9 game conference schedule.

Pod 1 Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri
Pod 2 Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss State
Pod 3 Alabama, Auburn, Vandy, Tennessee
Pod 4 Florida, Georgia, S. Carolina, Kentucky

Listening to The Ticket in Dallas - this sounds like it's all but a done deal. Been working on it for 6 months. Announcement could come next week. Buyout will be roughly 76 million for OU and Texas.

ESPN reported Thursday that both Texas and Oklahoma would likely owe the Big 12 upward of $76 million apiece to buy out the remainder of their grant of media rights agreement, which runs until 2025. A new agreement with the SEC, however, would likely make that price tag easily affordable for the two powerhouse programs.

Hmmm....maybe the MEAC should go 12 and we make a CFP thing with. Idk maybe have the audacity to call it THE REAL College Football Championship Breh

Flip Ark. & Missouri. Traditional rivals.

I'm thinking Alabama & Auburn end up in the East and Mizzou gets kicked to the West. That's IF they maintain the 2 divisions.
I could also see them going from 8 conference games to 10 and having 2 permanent cross-division games.

I would think TCU and Baylor......possibly to the mountain West??? Tech to the Pac-(insert number). KState to the big 10.......no idea about Kansas.....maybe big 10 also.

TCU left the Mountain West for Big 12. Not sure if MWC wants them back.

Now this does open up 2 spots in the Big 12. Who wants them? Houston? North Texas? A SWAC school? New Mexico? UTEP? SMU?

Houston probably no but North Texas?

Houston is the only answer that makes sense. UNT is a joke athletically...so is UNM and UTEP.

Houston is probably a given.

Memphis? Cincy? SMU? We know they've been thirsty to get into a P5 conference for a while so this might be their best shot
