The 2018 band will have a clean crisp sound, with a pre-fall camp.

“The JSU Band program is open to all students however, to ensure the utmost in quality, there will be a “Halftime Block” group between 192-225 (winds and percussion) that will be selected during a pre-camp that occurs after your preliminary audition (students cannot sign up for pre-camp until this is done). All students that make this group will be automatically part of the field show personnel, perform at all away games and or battle of the band performances. If you do not make the halftime block band, don’t worry; there are plenty of performances.”

Jackson State students attended the Annual HBCU National Band Directors Consortium in Atlanta,GA where they participated in workshops/clinics and participated in several ensembles. Many of the students also played in the Masters ensemble (ensemble made up of HBCU band directors) also. Jackson State has been participating in the consortium since 2014. This is a great opportunity for all HBCUs in which several frequently attends.
