Teacher assaulted by 3rd Grader

My point is this child should be punished no doubt. I don't know his history, maybe this is the 15th time he has hit a teacher, maybe its the 1st time, I don't know. Maybe he has no parents, maybe his parents are TEACHERS, I don't know. I do feel that NO CHILD SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND. One thing in life that no one can take from me is my EDUCATION. I just feel there are numerous forms of punishment this child can recieve other than refusing him an EDUCATION.

Kids do need to be taught a lesson, no doubt. I don't know what the WORST punishment a school can lay on a student, maybe it is expelling em. But if that is the case, I feel that punishment should be kept in the back pocket and only used as a last resort when all other forms of punishment didn't work OR if the kid does something really crazy like bring a weapon to school.

Vinita,

IMHO,Many of those kids who still show out and their parents are involved with them, usually are parents who became concerned much too late. You start raising children from the cradle, not when they become 10 and above. You will still have a few who will be unruly but in my experience as a school social worker, the ones who remain steadfast in their delinquent behavior are usually the ones whose parents started too late trying to raise them correctly.

In Texas, we can't hit back, but we can shove them away (this is seen as self defense, as opposed to hitting back, which is considered retaliation) ... my kids already know that if they lay a hand on me, I'm going to do my damndest to shove their asses clear into the next classroom ... THROUGH THE WALL ...

that's what your supposed to do in those situations right?

Da_Sperm stated....
That may be my problem, I try to look at both sides. I went K thru 12 without even have Dention Hall one time, never was suspended, nothing on my school record, no criminal record. I try to raise my kids knowing right from wrong, the way I was raised. But if the do slip, give them a second chance and make the punishment fit the crime, it doesn't have to always be a death penalty or 10 years in prison.

Secondly, it you didn't notice but there are more black males in prison than any other gender/race in America. But there white males leads the nation in the number of arrest. So why is it that if more white males are arrested than black males, then how could there be more black males in prison? Reason is INJUSTICE!! Statistics show that a black male with a clean slate between the age of 15 to 25 are more likely to do time for their first mistake than their white counterparts. If we don't give our children a SECOND chance, why do we EXPECT the courts to. I said earlier that I never had detention, suspension, or a criminal record, but had I SLIPPED and got into some trouble, I would have more than likely done time for my first offense. But the same young white boy has a better chance of not doing time.

Give our kids a second chance, then MAYBE someone else will too.

I believe in second chances but you can not overlook what this kid did. He was wrong for kicking and punching that teacher. This child need his butt whipped. I don't know anything about his parents, but one thing I do know, is that they are responsible for this child's behavior. You have to raise your children to respect their elders. You cannot condone this type of behavior. We as parents have to instill some of these kids with tough love. If we truly want our children to grow up to be productive and decent human beings it is left up to us to raise them in that manner. Teachers are not responsible for our kids. They are there to teach classwork. Some of these children now-a-days are so unruly and disrespectful. They don't have any repect for human life or anything else. I don't want society to throw this child away but he does need to be taught a lesson. If he doesn't want to follow instructions or listen to someone that means well for him then he is going to end up dead or in prison. Children and some adults need to learn that this world doesn't owe us anything and if you don't listen to someone giving you constructive advice then whatever happens to you, it happens. We should never ever condone this type of behavior in our young people. Too many of our young people are all screwed up now because we have learned to tolerate too much foolishness. We need to speak out more when we see our young males walking around with their buttuck showing and do-rags on their heads. Our young females are walking around with their cleveage, stomach, and navel hanging out. This is not cute. I see little girls thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen years of age looking like grown women and older guys are hitting on them because their dumb parents allow them to walk out of the dressed to provacative. Our young people need to learn about self respect and only then will they know how to respect others. I know I strayed a little bit from the subject matter but I am really disgusted with the way our young people are being discipline or maybe I should say the lack of discipline that parent are instilling in their children.

So, you would feel differently, that's what I thought.

I disagree with you Sperm...and not b/c I feel my child is so much better than anyone else' but, if Devin goes to school and hits his teacher or any other adult in that school, his ass is mine. The difference between my child and that child that ASSAULTED the teacher is Devin knows better. I put the fear of GOD in him so that he doesn't try me or anyone else for that matter. (You've seen him on several occasions, he'll stand over 6 feet tall one day and he sure ain't small by a longshot.) That's how I was raised and that's how most of us on this board were probably raised, cuz back in the day our parents didn't play and they damn sure didn't allow us to cut up in school and be disrespectful to adults. These kids today fear nothing or no one and you know why? Well, I'm glad you asked, it's because they don't have any home training...they're allowed to run wild and do as they please. Hell, they don't fear their own parents, if their parents are even around. We have dumb asses saying we shouldn't hit our kids, we should put them in time-out and all that foolishness...BS, I'm beatin' ass in my house. We allow our kids to get away with too much these days, and they go unpunished when the rules are broken. That lil bastard needs his ass beat until he can't sit down.

CASE CLOSE.
My mother is a retired teacher, including a host of aunts and uncles who are retired teachers. My sister is currently a counselor in the Little Rock school district. And they all say the same thing what Butch said.

They say you definitely can tell the students whose parents actually care about their children's behavior and performance at school and those parents who do not. It's no "if's", "and's" and "but's" about it, parents are the main pillar of a students attitude toward school and teachers.

I don't feel sorry this kid, I don't. I have seen to many occasions just this year where these kids have cursed out some elderly person in public. Fugg him and his mammy and pappy. He and other students like have missed the point about education because of their trifling parents.

You got to start discipline with a kid when they first start to stand up, not when they can recite a 5 minute rap song.

It's sad that some folks seem to think that when kids get to school they're gonna do, say, and act exactly as their parents have told them.

wake up folks!!!

Kids gonna be kids. You can raise a kid directly by the "book" and that kid can still go to school and show his arse!
Just because he does, you can't go ASSuming anything about the parent, sight unseen.

again, I ask, how many of us did things as kids that we knew were wrong and knew our parents would not have approved.
guess what, we did it anyway!
Would you look at your parent as being less of a parent now because of the dumb things you did as a kid?

C'mon, now...you know the answer to that! :lmao:

Discipline and fear are two words that youth these days cannot relate to.

This kid gets no sympathy from me. If he's a habitual troublemaker why should he still be allowed the priviledge of being in school disrupting other students/faculty? How many chances should he get? 4? 7? 10? 20? Until he finally brings a weapon to school and sets it off? Maybe beat a teacher for over 4 continuous minutes?

It was his decision and no one elses. I don't buy into that "environmental" factor bull. He's old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.

Kids can be kids but, parents NEED to be parents. Many of them are asleep & need to wake up & realizing that not correcting/disciplining bad behavior only encourages it.

If you are a parent, I think you'd understand. That's like single people trying to give married people advice on marriage.

Me and mine? The fear of God and Ricky will loom forever in their heart no matter the distance. I'mma beat they azz if they *F* up. And will beat whomever's azz if they stand in my way of tryna' beat my kids' azz. I'm trying to instill in them that it's not their will but my will that they are protecting/advocating. It's not about them. It's about me because I'm the one who's rising every *F*ing day going to a place where the "majority" can't stand my black azz to work for them and their well being while they're playing, eating, and ishtting.

LMAO! I sound just like my ancestry. They used to tell me and my sisters the exact same thing: All y'all do is eat, isht, and play! I'll beat yo' azz and the judge and the police and CPS.... LOL

 Say that Ricky.

Just yesterday, a 16-year old star football player from one of the local schools was shot and killed while coming from his homecoming pep rally that was held on campus. I guess they should give the teenage bastid who shot and killed him a second chance huh? I mean, maybe that was his first time shooting someone.

Maybe he'll be put in alternative school and just bypass the justice/legal system that tries to uphold some type of order of this country altogether.

That's really sad to hear K. A bright future snuffed out by someone who obviously didn't give a damn. :( That's really sad. :( I feel for the victims' parent(s)/relatives/friends.

Sorry, my mentality is nineteen-thirtyish/fortyish/fiftyish/sixtyish. Hard and steadfast.

Sad, sad, sad... Kids just can't make mistakes, well I guess black kids can't. You all are right, just line the kid up and shoot his arse, get his mamma, grandma, dad, granddad and me too for wanting the punishment NOT TO BE EXPULSION.

One thing I have learned in my 33 years of life, what goes around, comes around.

Man...I hope that none y'alls kids EVER do anything wrong! :smh:

Oh yeah...I know:

"But MY kid would NEVER do anything like that, cuz I raise them RIGHT!" :look:

There is no problem with punishing somebody as long as the PUNISHMENT fits the CRIME!

Let some of y'all tell it, a person who steals a shirt from a store should be sentenced to death by strangulation or something...

People are gonna make their own CHOICES regardless of whehow they were/are raised.

P~, you and your family sound like me an mine....:lmao: Must be why we get along so well, huh? ;)

If you don't beat em while their young the po-po's will surely get a hold of em later....especially, young black males. :smh: Let em be unruly @ age 10 and see what happens when their 15/16 and older.

I'm sure nothing will happen to this lil boy anyway...he's just a kid.

I think we're saying sort of the same thing. The crime deserves punishment. It's the severity that we all don't agree on.

The kid needs to be severely punished. If it were my kid I would accept that after I beat the living hell out of him/her. :D But still, I'd really be surprised if my kid(s) did anything along those lines. Surely the wouldn't want an F5 ass whoopin'. Surely... :(

Actually, if you weren't so busy trying to dispute everything I post, you would have read that I never stated the throw him out of school...at least I don't recall saying it. I stated he and any other child that does this should be punished and held accountable. His ass should be beaten silly.

I'll say it again...these kids today are not disciplined like they were when I grew up. That's why we have so many issues. When I was in school...no one and I repeat NO one ever attempted to hit/fight a teacher or anyone else in authority, for that matter. But you keep reading whatever you want into my posts.

ummm D-Town,
I'm not disputing anything.

Not ONE time did I say this kid doesn't need to be punished at school. Not ONE time did I say this kid doesn't need a good ole fashioned beating at home.

The ONLY things I have said is that he shouldn't be thrown out of school and we don't know anything about his parent(s).
