Exactly!!!

And for this 10 year old kid, this may be that time. I mean just like you grew up from the fighting and went on to bigger things, this kid can do the same.
But not if we give up on him now and throw him away.

Don't kick the kid outta school!

kellis,
Of course not.

But things were VERY different then.
but I would venture to say if somebody was crazy enough to hit a teacher, he wouldn't have gotten expelled. (esp. a 3rd grader)
Just a good whoopin (home and school) and a few days suspension.

That's just it....he's probably NOT gonna get a whooping at home and you just can't paddle kids anymore. When we were in school, there was no consent needed. If you acted up, you got paddled, they called your mom, and you got your ass beat at home again.

Today, Ray Ray's mom will only come to the school when he has all Fs and it's the last day of school and she's wondering why he won't pass. I guess she didn't bother to check on him or see if he had homework to do when he got home.

Of course I would feel differently, she is my wife. At the same time I know I have 3 kids in school and at any time of the day, they could hit a teacher too. Its not because they are not taught right from wrong, its because they are KIDS. Now, should they make that mistake, I would want mercy for me and my child to correct the situation before he/she is kicked out of school, wouldn't you?

Or does every parent on this board feel that their child is not capable of this type of behavior?

So, you would feel differently, that's what I thought.

I disagree with you Sperm...and not b/c I feel my child is so much better than anyone else' but, if Devin goes to school and hits his teacher or any other adult in that school, his ass is mine. The difference between my child and that child that ASSAULTED the teacher is Devin knows better. I put the fear of GOD in him so that he doesn't try me or anyone else for that matter. (You've seen him on several occasions, he'll stand over 6 feet tall one day and he sure ain't small by a longshot.) That's how I was raised and that's how most of us on this board were probably raised, cuz back in the day our parents didn't play and they damn sure didn't allow us to cut up in school and be disrespectful to adults. These kids today fear nothing or no one and you know why? Well, I'm glad you asked, it's because they don't have any home training...they're allowed to run wild and do as they please. Hell, they don't fear their own parents, if their parents are even around. We have dumb asses saying we shouldn't hit our kids, we should put them in time-out and all that foolishness...BS, I'm beatin' ass in my house. We allow our kids to get away with too much these days, and they go unpunished when the rules are broken. That lil bastard needs his ass beat until he can't sit down.

What if the teacher would have gotten cursed out in the club by some young guy, would she be so incline to put her hands on him? NO!! But I guess its OK to put her hand on a child since he's not suppose to act like that anyway.

Your missing the point here ................ This is school...... not a night club. That's the problem ................ everything is excused because "he is a child". Nothing is "his" fault and if he is held accountable then his "feelings" will be hurt.

Maybe that's why he is 2 years behind now. NO RESPONSIABILITY. Nobody is saying throw this kid away, but at the same time going from one end of the common sence spectrum, to the extreme oposite end, with no common sence in between is not the answer either.

This teacher took the one option she had without putting her career and freedom at risk.:(

Maybe you misread me. I feel that the expulsion is the wake-up call in this child's case, especially since it looks like his parents will not provide it.

One of the main reasons that children don't respect authority now is because for every adult that wants to lay down the law, there are 3 others standing behind them crying, "He's just a kid! He doesn't know any better". Well when in the hell is the child going to learn any better? I'll say it again, we need to STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR THESE KIDS.

Let's hope so, but you don't know that. Maybe his parent(s) don't care...ever thought about that one? It happens all the time, the world is full of parents that don't give 2 schitts about their kid and what they're doing or not doing in school. They're just glad when the child is at school away from home and out of their hair.

SAD, but unfortunately true. :smh:

Yeah, cause you're a grown man!

And believe me, I'm not saying the kid doesn't need punishment. But when you start talking expulsion, at the age of 10, then I don't necessarily agree.

Heck, even adult criminals are given second and third chances.

But yall wanna throw away a 10 year old kid (and whatever his actions may be, that's exactly what he is, a 10 year old kid

I will tell you one thing............He needs his arse kicked until my arse hurts! No, I would not expel him providing he gets the dirty ish beat out of him. If he cant get his arse beat down good, he needs to be expelled for a year with his little TRIFLING arse and put to work on a juvy chain gang!....got zammit!

again, I agree

but at the end of the day, there has to be a better way than throwing a 10 year old kid out of school!

That's what I am saying is a possibility. Just because this kid did this doesn't mean he hasn't be taught that hitting adults is wrong. He's a KID and it is possible for a kid to make mistakes, therefore he needs to be punished. In this case I don't know what the child will learn from being expelled, I don't think at 10 he is old enough to get it.

I guess it won't hit home until one of you get that call at work from the school principal that your lil innocent, he/she knows better child has done something just as bad. Whether its their first offense, I'm sure you will be in the office recommending your child be expelled from school.

Rev Jesse Jackson once spoke on discipline kids for wrong actions at school. He said you should ALWAYS protect/defend your child in the public eye, no matter what. But once you get home, you give him the business. This is what white people do, but we as blacks are just to quick to say "Da L with Em, give him to the state".

Yup, and we all know that Jesse Jackson sets the gold standard for all things RIGHT AND MORAL ...

Of course I thought about that one, but I am also thinking that while I don't know if his parents care, ya'll don't know if they don't care.

Adultery has nothing to do with raising kids to be good in school. Kids are not married.

Thanks for the well wishes...but I won't hold my breath waiting on that call.

I can just about put money on this one...I'll guarantee you this child has been a problem from day one and has no discipline at home.

You are making excuses for parent that are not doing their job. That little young thug knew what the hell he was doing. His only problem is his arse have not been kicked enough. The child, his parents and you (guilty by association) should all be put in a gulitone from 7am to 7pm as the last part of punishment! See, some of you people need to get done medievel style to put your morals and priorities back in check,

Believe me, I'm not wishing that on no one. But I'm sure that is what plenty of the mothers of these teenagers THOUGHT when they found out their lil 15 yr old daughter is 4 months pregnant. I'm sure that is what some parents thought when they found out 16 yr old Jr has been on drugs since age 13. I'm sure that is what some parent thought when Bobby commited suicide for some reason. Its all because the "I know my kid" attitude.
