An Iberville Parish third grader has been suspended and faces possible expulsion after he allegedly assaulted a student teacher Monday. The Iberville Sheriff's department is investigating the incident.
Authorities say 22-year-old Tiffany Richardson, a student teacher at East Iberville Parish Elementary School, filed a simple battery complaint Tuesday. Richardson, a senior LSU education major, is working her first semester as a student teacher.

"We're there to teach them, so physical altercation was the last thing that I expected," Richardson said.

Richardson said the incident happened during an after school tutorial program. The 10-year-old did not want to do his work and proceeded to call her an obscene name and threatened to punch her, she said.

She responded by telling the student to go to the program's director.

"At that point he turns around and kicks me in my left leg and punched me ... in my chest," she said.

School principal Melvin Craige said the school is investigating the alleged incident after following school board policy -- suspending the boy and recommending him for expulsion.

Despite her recent experience, Richardson said she hasn't lost her desire to teach.

"Nothing is easy," she said. "Nothing's going to be easy that's worth doing."

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Department said the boy has not been charged, pending a decision by Richardson on whether or not she wants to file charges. She said she has not decided.

The school district's expulsion hearing for the boy is set for Friday.

I don't know about the charges being filed. He probably just had a tantrum, but he does need his arse whipped.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
Shame ................ but I hope she follows through. If she had planted her foot in his arse ........THE PARENTS WOULD HAVE SUED, THE TEACHER WOULD HAVE BEEN IN JAIL AND OUT OF A JOB, and THE ADM. AT THE SCHOOL WOULD HAVE STARTED COVERING THEIR COLLECTIVE ARSES SUCKING UP TO THIS BAD ARSE KID AND HIS PARENTS. :(

Well, I stopped reading after the 1st statement in blue. Dumb mofo, should be in the 5th grade anyway. :smh: These kids today are SAD and their mammies and pappies are the cause.

What a :shame:

She should have just smacked his young AZZ.

Man These kids are getting out of Control!!!

:redhot:

The double standard is sickening. This little punk-arse kid is gonna get a slap on the wrist-3 day suspension or something-and have his bad arse right back in class the next day. If she had looked at him the wrong way his mama would have sued the school, the teacher, the school board, and everybody else. :smh:

If I'd have put my hands on a teacher, my arse would have been in the hospital.....

FASHO!!

In Texas, we can't hit back, but we can shove them away (this is seen as self defense, as opposed to hitting back, which is considered retaliation) ... my kids already know that if they lay a hand on me, I'm going to do my damndest to shove their asses clear into the next classroom ... THROUGH THE WALL ...

If that had've been me, I would've been the one with the assault charges and sitting in jail somewhere, 'cause my foot would've been all in that little boy's arse!

Damn, I know things are out of hand when parents out in the country aren't setting kids straight anymore. Then again, the child's mother is probably 27 or younger and doesn't give a damn. My mother was born and raised in Iberville Parish and my aunt and uncle have been teaching out there for years. The kids didn't get out of control in their area until a couple of years ago.

My wife teaches second grade and I wish one of those little demons would punch her in the chest because I'm beating the child's arse AND the parent's arse.

(And they wonder why no one wants to teach anymore)

I guess this mess starts early. You're right DT, err, SU's Finest. He should've been in the 5th if not the 4th grade depending on b-day. :(

If I'd assaulted or even attempted to verbally assault an instructor, y'all would've been putting daisies on my grave that read: Sho' Nuff Dead.

Man, I witnessed one of my cousins get the beating of her lifetime for talking back to a teacher. Times sure have changed.

Parents are to blame for mess like this happening. There is no way on this green earth that I would have ever gotten away with some mess like this. My mom (rest her soul) would have wrapped that extension cord so far around me I would still be carrying it around. It is a shame and a disgrace that these children are so out of control. Parents need to go back to that old fashion beating these children butts and dare the system to get involved.

I agree.
Kids these days are grown and now tell parents what to do or what they ain't 'gon do. Kids are coming out the womb grown these days.
I got a 2-year-old nephew who can probably talk/articulate AND comprehend better than some grown folks.

I would've been laying up somewhere with stiches in my body, if I would've ever disrespected a grown-up.
We do need to go back to those days.

You can believe that if he hit the teacher at school...he's probably getting his way at home. I think she handled herself great. Had it been me, I'd probably be posting bail right now. I hope the kid does get kicked out of school. He's headed towards the pen anyway...unless he makes a change.

10 years old and 3rd grade...sad

O-Kay!!! I say take it as far as you can. His parents will probably give some sob story to excuse his behavior. I really want to know the outcome of this situation.

All of this going on and peeps say you're NOT suppose to whup a child's ass.

Well, Imma whip mine's natural ass if he gets outta line. If he tries to call DFACS on me, I'll pack his stuff and let them take care of him. No child of mine will disrespect me or ANY adult.

I'd be really surprised if he had parents

Suing a parent over a kid throwing a temper? A third grader? Man come on. Let the school punish him and let the parent punish him but don't go as far as expelling the kid. What if it were your kid? Wouldn't you want the opportunity to punish him before he gets expelled?

Boy, it doesn't take us long to give up on a kid these days does it? One strike and your off to prison.

Sheeeit, our child wouldn't even make it to the phone to call DFACS(lol).

Lord knows I had a temper growing up, but there is a huge difference between throwing a fit and actually putting your hands on an adult. The child needs to be expelled, point blank. Sending him home for three days so he can just play his Playstation 2 or his Xbox all day is not going to teach his little arse a damn thing. Hell, getting suspended from school was like a vacation at times. I used to kick back and watch The Price is Right, Press Your Luck, and BET when I would get sent home for a day or two. Expel his arse and send him to continuation or alternative school. The parents(if they are even around)do not have a say at this point. The deed was done and the punishment must fit the crime.

Excuses are the tools of the incompetent. If we don't nip things in the bud when they happen, they only get worse.
