D. Kennedy threw for over 400 yards and 5 TDs, so the "excuse" of Hymes not starting is "thrown" out the window.

The only Bama State team I really had respect for the last 10 years was the 2004 team. If that team would have been coached by Cole, Pete or even Doug, they wouldn't have loss one game.............

You scored 45 points on us but only won by 7. That same year ASU scored 61 on J-State but only won by 3 so what is your point?
You say from what you saw our team was overrated, but you witnessed a game with our backup QB. So with that logic you either should have scored more that 45 points or beaten us by a larger margin.

ummm, I wasnt passing off ASU's 01 team as being great. So, our margin of victory over Jsu (or any other team) is pointless.
However, people were passing off Gram's 01 team as great. So, it's only logical to look at your games.
That's my point.
I see you keep dancing around why your "backup QB" was starting. It wasnt like he was starting because your starter was out injured. He was starting because Hymes sucked. And the week before that ASU game, he had gotten pulled against TxSou, with an absolutely HORRIBLE stat line. I distinctly remember him having more INTs in that game, than he did completions.
So, stop trying to pass off we only won because your backup was playing.

U are correct also.
That 2000 team defense was very good but the offense had not caught up yet as Hymes was in his first year as starter.
That 2001 team is still the best team I have since living in Noth LA. since 96.
If 2000 had a alil more offense I would say 2k team but they did not have the offense yet.

If doug would have started Hymes the offense would have not been going point for point with ASU. We would have had more of a running attack versus Bruce throwing it every dayum down.
We could have been undefeated that year.

Players was pissed wit Doug for not playing Hymes.

Look at the rematch when Hymes play and look at how Brad Hill and Kendrick Shanklin gets more toches and the score is not as high either.
I never was too in love with the pass happy offense with Bruce. I loved the Semi Ball control and even focus on pass and run by the 2001 team.

Unlike some of you, we haven't come on here proclaiming to be the second coming, but seeing as how we beat all of the so-called big 3 (and since you are SUPPOSED to be the class of the conference) and won the championship, I would think that qualifies AAMU among that group. What has Jsu won in the last 10 (that number is very important, here) years that they should be listed among that group? 1996 was ELEVEN years ago!!

U would have had to known how Doug was about swappign out QB's. He wanted the classic Drop back passer in Bruce to Start but Bruce was inconsistent and Randy was already there. Randy should have started all season. We almost lost to Nicholls State behind Doug smart azz thinking. Hymes had to come in asave the day.
I am telling you that had Hymes started that game the offense would not have been so pass happy and the game would haveslwoed down and that means running the footbal which does two things.
1. Take time off the clock
2. Keep the other team Juggarnaunt offense off the field.
In the SCG that proved to be true. It slowed the game down for GSU and along with some Untimely fimbles by ASU(One of those was not a fumble:goof: )Hill and Shanklin running helped Hymes get going somewhat.
Eugene played well but the tempo was too fast for GSU and at the end it caught up with GSU.
OK so you are in the top 10 of all SWAC Champs of the past 10 seasons since there were only 10...
