How many of you in here are feeling 'the bern' (Bernie Sanders)

I ask this question because, despite his surge in the polls, it appears the primary difference between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton is that Hillary appears to have a very large portion of the black votes.

The pundits are saying that black folks simply don't know enough about Sanders and because Hilliary's last name is "Clinton" she has the benefit.

Thoughts?

Sanders is nothing but "media hype". Just think of one thing he wants to do, break up the "big banks", Sanders is too dumb to know the economy is attached to the big banks, break up the big banks, the Stock Market crashes! Sanders, like Trump, don't think, they just have talking points. The things Sanders wants to do are really impossible.

I agree. He says things that just can't happen.

Right. I don't support any particular candidate. I'll just see who makes it out of the primaries. I don't see one candidate who I feel is capable of leading this country. Sanders is too "pie in the sky" for my liking. Leans a litle bit too far to the left and is a self-proclaimed Socialist. For that reason, I'd roll with Hillary in the Primaries since I'm a registered Democrat.

I like how Ted Cruz handles himself on the GOP side, but I need to do some more research on him before I can say anything other than that.

What's wrong with that?

It won't work in this country. It sounds good in an idealogical sense, but we forget that this country was built on Blacks not being productive, first-class citizens. You can change the principles but you can't change the people that run the system. Socialism for Blacks in the United States will be like taking a machete out of the hand of your oppressor and replacing it with a sniper rifle.

But it already is working in this country. I think the larger problem is some folks...scratch that....many folks simply don't know what socialism is and other nuances that go with it.
Yeah, when you're talking about the military, law enforcement, Medicare, etc., you can say it's working...all of those are funded by tax payer dollars.. I mention this to my feeble minded Republican coworkers when they start bad-mouthing Obama about Socialism. LOL

But in actuality, even the functionality of that can be argued as we have went into serious debt to fund wars/ healthcare for Veterans. Medicare and Soc. Security is going to kill us with the baby boomers now set to retire. I am okin favor of benefits and entitlement programs for the children, Vets and the elderly, for the record.

My concern is a more reformed Socialist-Democratic movement, which focuses on tackling economic inequality amongst other things. I just do not trust our governing body, on the Federal or State level, to do what is needed to benefit the Black, Brown and poor Whites. This country was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Black people and poor people, and the vast majority wants it to remain that way. I read somewhere that in this country the average CEO makes 300 times more than his/ her employee. But in the US, you have the opporunity to be the CEO and no government agency, for the most part, can deny you that opportunity. The opportunity is still much less for some than it is others, but it's still an opportunity. We have to really think about how can Socialism in America level the playing field amongst the racial divide. We are under the assumption that a fundamental shift towards a Socialist government will empower us. Just like we thought Intergration would.

If Bernie's a real Socialist, he'd figure out a plan for reparations for Black Americans, if he really wants things to be as they should be.

The GOP has too much ammunition on Hillary Clinton. She will spend more time defending her husband and some emails from the GOP candidate. Sanders has made statements that can change society and I was especially surprised about his comments about Sandra Bland. No candidate not even the president has stated such.

I like Bernie Sanders....but I'm an independent.

While we have a few socialistic systems, we don't have socialism in America. Socialism won't work anywhere because it goes against basic human nature. Humans are greedy and entrepreneurial by our very natures. Every country that tries true socialism outside of Spain has a very, very oppressive govt.

I don't disagree with you, nor do I disagree with the point @LS Syndicate made. I'm just touching on the point that many simply don't know what socialism is. I'm not foolish enough to argue that we will ever get to the point of a complete socialistic society....hell, I don't want that.

And that is the difference in why Socialism won't work in the US. Racial oppression is in the genetic makeup of the U.S. Racism towards a group of citizens in Europe is not as visceral as it is here.

I don't think his ideas are Possible but I think he is going to beat Hillary cuz he has the youth Vote... I am Voting For Hillary cuz at least some change may happen with some of her plans... I am predicting Bernie win The Nomination but I don't think the Party is going to Support him and the GOP will take office

I think Bernie's basic philosophy is that government (which is elected by the people) should work for the betterment and advancement of the environment and the people...not for corporate entities. Corporation's objective is to make money...not to save lives. So, the government has to step in to regulate these corporate entities to keep them from just considering us expendable...remember the Ford Pinto? We don't have pure capitalism or pure socialism but a mix of the two. I think Bernie is advocating tilting this balance of this mix back to the people's favor.

I need to see some details on how he plans to do this. Saying crap and campaigning is one thing.......winning the election, governing and actually doing what you said is another story. What he's saying may sound good on the campaign trail, but can he actualy do it? It won't just be him in the oval office by himself, calling the shots. He has to deal with a GOP-dominated Senate and House who are funded by (and employed by) these big corporatons that Bernie speaks against.

Yeah...that's problem. But, in the long run, he's helping to bring attention to things other politicians wouldn't have adressed regardless of him winning or not.
