But it already is working in this country. I think the larger problem is some folks...scratch that....many folks simply don't know what socialism is and other nuances that go with it.
Yeah, when you're talking about the military, law enforcement, Medicare, etc., you can say it's working...all of those are funded by tax payer dollars.. I mention this to my feeble minded Republican coworkers when they start bad-mouthing Obama about Socialism. LOL
But in actuality, even the functionality of that can be argued as we have went into serious debt to fund wars/ healthcare for Veterans. Medicare and Soc. Security is going to kill us with the baby boomers now set to retire. I am okin favor of benefits and entitlement programs for the children, Vets and the elderly, for the record.
My concern is a more reformed Socialist-Democratic movement, which focuses on tackling economic inequality amongst other things. I just do not trust our governing body, on the Federal or State level, to do what is needed to benefit the Black, Brown and poor Whites. This country was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Black people and poor people, and the vast majority wants it to remain that way. I read somewhere that in this country the average CEO makes 300 times more than his/ her employee. But in the US, you have the opporunity to be the CEO and no government agency, for the most part, can deny you that opportunity. The opportunity is still much less for some than it is others, but it's still an opportunity. We have to really think about how can Socialism in America level the playing field amongst the racial divide. We are under the assumption that a fundamental shift towards a Socialist government will empower us. Just like we thought Intergration would.
If Bernie's a real Socialist, he'd figure out a plan for reparations for Black Americans, if he really wants things to be as they should be.
