Folks Getting PO'd - Unarmed Black Teen Killed by Police in MO

I get what you are saying...but one thing that stands out is...those armed white men were in control and organized. We always react with our emotions and that doesn't help anything. we want to riot, yell, throw things, and attack the police...but we do it in an irrational and unorganized manner.

Do you honestly think a group of "organized" Black folks with guns would get met with the same reaction that that group in Nevada received?

That is true. Fuk the Koreans!! They intentionally block us out of the hair business today.
That was on purpose. There was already tension between Blacks and Asian business owners in Watts/SC and the verdict just gave the rioters a reason to get at them. They (mostly) weren't going after Black businesses... There were Koreans putting up signs saying "Black Owned".

Dear black folks learn your history!!!! The Black Panthers marched with guns. Showed up on many scenes ready to go to war, yet they did not act with emotions. They were prepared to show the whites, yes we are ready and will go at it with you, but they were disciplined and that is why they got their point across. The looting, stealing and burning down stores in your neighborhood only destroys the property your parents worked hard to get!!!!

I don't think their parents worked hard to live in economically depressed neighborhoods where the police can kill their children just because.

And none of their parents owned corporate entities either.

Those law enforcement folks in Missouri had tanks and military weapons at the ready after crowds gathered in the hours following the shooting.

Look playa, you ain't talking to no white boy lover. Ok, lets get that out of the way. I wouldn't shed a tear if every white person in America disappeared off of the planet, but I have enough sense to know that destroying a community where elderly black people, innocent kids and hard working class people go to work everyday is ignorant. I am down, and will always be down for fighting against white oppression and racism, but it has to be done the correct way. Those fools looting just gave the police and escape goat and took away the important focus on the cops. Use your head for more than a hat rack son, and stop the excuses. Yes we should confront these racist cops. Yes we should bring light to the situation. No we shouldn't loot, steal and cause destruction.

It's so easy to hide behind the safety of a computer to say what those people should do in the wake of this tragedy. We don't know the history between the PD and the community. This killing could have been the straw that broke the camels back.

They used violence against a member of that community, didn't give a sufficient response to it, used intimation during a peaceful protest and you expect the people to handle it "the right way?"

Dr. King did. He was spit on, slapped, punched, kicked, went to jail and he never stole, looted or rioted.

Those poor Asian business owners suffered the worse. Mofos are just looking for an excuse to wreck havoc.

Just like the CNN Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown-Koreatown Los Angeles Episode, I see you really don't know much about why those poor Asian business owners suffered. For some strange reason the primary reason for the attacks on Korean businesses were blamed on the Rodney King verdict, but somehow CNN conveniently left out the murder of Latasha Harlins as the main reason why rioters looted and attacked Korean businesses.

The incident and reduced sentencing by the court exacerbated already existing tensions between African-American residents and Asian-American merchants in South Central Los Angeles. Those tensions were later interpreted by some members of the public and activists as being one of the catalysts of the 1992 Los Angeles riots as numerous Korean-owned businesses were attacked. On August 17, 1991, while Du was awaiting trial, a small incendiary fire occurred at her store.

During the 1992 riots, Du's store was burned, and it never re-opened

Why do back folks always respond with "I also want us to be this outraged over black on black crime"? Maybe yall need to ask yourselves why you aren't outraged, because the truth of the matter is there are black folks out in the community everyday fighting against black on black crime. We always over look that fact to over look the wrong white America does. If black groups didn't fight against black on black crime it would be worst off then what it really is. Folks ask yourselves what aren't you doing to fight black on black crime is more of the question. My church just had a gun buy back, guess what yall weren't there. We also had a counselors talking to kids, a education HBCU seminar, a education GED program. Guess what most of the uppity blacks don't attend, but they are quick to judge though.........

What you talking about ain't got nothing to do with that kid in Missouri getting blown away by the cops for no reason. NONE.

We always to this. Every time our people are faced with injustice someone tries to either change the subject or find away to blame the victim or our culture for what happened. Tired of it.

Man you can count on it EVERY TIME when some thing happens that a handful of blacks will say it and it irks me to death. That has NOTHING to do with this situation.

An unarmed black teen was gunned down when all he did was throw his arms in the air. Even the Ferguson chief has admitted this. But somehow you want to bring up an unrelated issue into this tragic situation

+1  I wholeheartedly agree...its like they get scared of us dissecting out the truth...:smh:

I'm not trying to justify the killing of this young black girl, but do you think she did anything wrong? I'm basing this off of what's written below. I wonder how many Asian business owners were robbed with the owners being shot before this even went down. I can guarantee you countless.

Du observed Harlins putting a bottle of orange juice in her backpack. Police say that Du erroneously concluded Harlins was attempting to steal, and evidently did not see the money Harlins held in her hand. The police reached this conclusion after speaking with the two eyewitnesses present and viewing the videotape of the incident, recorded by a store security camera.[2][3] Du grabbed Harlins by the sweater and snatched her backpack. Harlins then struck Du with her fist three times, knocking Du to the ground. After Harlins backed away, Du then threw a stool at her. Harlins then picked up the orange juice that dropped during the scuffle, threw[4] it on the counter and turned to leave. Du reached under the counter to retrieve a handgun, then fired at Harlins from behind at a distance of about three feet (one meter) and shot her in the back of her head, killing her instantly. Du's husband, Billy Heung Ki Du, heard the shot and rushed into the store. After speaking to his wife, who asked for whereabouts of Harlins before fainting, he dialed 9-1-1 to report an alleged holdup. Harlins died with $2 in her left hand.[5]

Du testified on her own behalf, stating that it was self-defense and that her life was in danger, but her testimony was contradicted by the statements of the two witnesses present at the time and the security camera video which showed her shooting Harlins in the back of the head as Harlins was attempting to leave the store. However, the Los Angeles police department ballistics expert report also found that the handgun Du used was altered in such a way that, compared to an ordinary handgun, much less pressure on the trigger was necessary to result in firing.[5]

On November 15, 1991, the jury, believing that Du's shooting was fully within her control and she fired the gun voluntarily, found Du guilty of voluntary manslaughter, an offense that carries a maximum prison sentence of 16-years. However, trial judge, Joyce Karlin, sentenced Du five years of probation, four hundred hours of community service, and a $500 fine.

Have you seen the camera footage?

Guys, PLEASE lets not get riled up and pissed at each other...let's focus on what we can offer as solutions to dealing with this outside issue--police brutality on our race. We all have opinions but in the end, I don't see how we can gloss over the fact that there are too many of these shootings happening and little done to the police. At what point do we get tired of getting picked off like ducks and start pushing and fighting back?

All these damn legal minds and not enough of them stepping up to push back on these big cases IMO. Gotdayum, can somebody take the first initiative in these areas instead of talking about it? Who can draft the legislation in the proper legalese to make it happen? This sitting duck shit is gonna get a LOT of folks killed and us back at Rosewood...

No, I have not. Is it online? Will it justify why this young girl put the orange juice in her bag before paying?

Folks eat grapes before they pay and bite candy...the owner of the store should have just called 911...snatching her up...that is wrong no matter where you are. That lady wouldn't have snatched up a white kid...she did it because she felt she could get away with it...we all know it.

How can you guarantee this when you didn't even know about the Latasha Harlins incident?

You are correct, I didn't know about the Latasha incident, but I do know what goes down in the hood. There is a reason why 100% of the stores in places like Watts, Compton, Chicago, and Detroit have bullet proof glass between the store clerk and the customers. Let y'all tell it the store clerk/owner is just being paranoid and nothing bad will happen to them.

Do you think the young girl was wrong for putting the juice in her bag before paying? Yes or No. Do you teach your son to put things in his bag before paying for it.

I still think it's retarded that one one cares about violence until it's another race that does it. Nothing anyone says is going to change that. We will come up with every excuse in the book to ignore it too, just like in here. And I mean if you're going to riot about it, why aren't you going to THEIR neighborhoods instead of tearing up your own block? It's simply stupid.

This is essentially what happens when they "riot." It's also what happens when we destroy our own chit, people included. Yet, like with people, they stand around and see nothing wrong with it. Just sad. And of course they take this and just use it to say, "look at them."

You do realize Latasha was shot in the back when she tried to walk away from a scuffle started by the Korean woman and she placed the orange juice back on the counter after the scuffle. Also, after she was shot and killed, Latasha had the money in her hand to pay for the orange juice.

How about you start the outcry (that you aren't seeing) against black on black crime since you think folks aren't doing anything about it?

That doesn't justify her being shot in the back of the head even if she was stealing.

Their ways are not mine...but until she walked out of that door with the juice, she hadn't stolen a thing...

the fact that we are looking for justification for a shot to the back of the head of a CHILD walking out of a store SANS JUICE is extremely troubling...how many folks you seen get shot in the grocery store for eating grapes? how many children you seen shot in stores when their mothers open the candy and let them eat it and then give the wrapper to the clerk?

Homeschool, I already know your mindset...I remember being surprised as hell when we had the discussion where the dude came out shooting at a man just sitting in front of his house and the man's wife in the kitchen was killed and you thought the fact that dude was sitting out in front of the house, on a public street, was an aggression that justified his behavior..Okay...but ::smh:

You are assuming the store clerk knew she was just walking out of the door to go home. If you and I just got into a physical confrontation and you just got up to walk away...I will assume the worse is about happen and will try to protect myself by all means.
