Alcorn Narrows Head Football Coach Down to 3

The Grambling vs Alcorn series just got interesting again.

It has USA, It has...looking forward to next season already.

I'm really interested to see who Coach Spears calls up to be assistants. Now Alcorn, here is what we should do since I'm the "Playstation GM" on this website:

Sign Coach Spears to a 4-year contract with the option of a fifth-year if he meets incentives. 4-years will be plenty of time for him recruit HIS players into his SYSTEM and for us to see the product. Of course, with Brandon Bridge, Arnold Walker(from injury), and Terrance Lewis along with other starters on the Offensive side being back in 2011 so I expect SOME IMPROVEMENTS in the first year.

Defensively, we will lose a lot crucial starters in 2011. Hopefully, someone like Pete, Darrin Hayes, or LC Cole can be defensive coordinator and instill a "TOUGH, PHYSICAL, and SWARM TO THE BALL defense".

I expect our TIMING and MECHANICS to be near perfect. If you want to run a Spread-Option offense with Bridge, TIMING IS ALWAYS CRUCIAL!!! Also, Brandon and his WRs must work on route-running timing especially. The marble is there...it just has to be shaped.

Boss Spears is back on the sideline... (hopefully not in a purple suit) but I know he's gonna restore excitement on the reservation. Alcorn moves to the front of the line in the East.

Spears paid hommage to Coach Rob when he was at GSU. Maybe he'll pay hommage to big Casem this year...LOL

Lets do the Damn thang! Focus now turns to the Mr Mean and the Basketball Braves. Baseball Team will WIN the SWAC this year! Right Click and Save

I'm only on one payroll that I know of. If I'm owed another check send it on brotha send it on. Sorry whoever you wanted as a HC @ Alcorn didn't make it. But why is Alcorn such a big deal to you anyway?

Well MB,

I just expect us to compete in games more. You know me...ONE GAME AT TIME!!! This stuff of being down 21-0 to UAPB but making a comeback or being down 23-to PV and making a comeback does sit with me. Hopefully Coach Spears and staff instills in the players that football is played for FOUR WHOLE QUARTERS and that every quarter matters (the score at 0:00 at the 4th Quarter does matter BUT you have to put yourself in a position to win).

about 45 minutes ago from TweetDeckInteresting. RT @601maintain: @RossDellenger don't be surprised if coach Roberts frm Jsu is offered OL job at alcorn when spears is name HC

Carl Roberts
Position:
Special Teams/Asst. Offensive Line

Carl "Big C" Roberts is in his first season as the special teams coach for the JSU Tigers. This is his second stint as a member of the JSU coaching staff. Roberts was an outstanding guard for the Tigers from 1979-82. He was named to the All-SWAC team three times during his playing career at JSU.

In 1984 and 1985 he played professionally with the Oklahoma Outlaws and San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL.

Roberts first joined the JSU coaching staff in 1983 as a graduate assistant. He came on as a full time staff member in 1987, when he served as the offensive line and strength coach. He remained a member of the JSU coaching staff until 2003.

Roberts is a graduate of B.L. Moore High School in Crawford, Mississippi. At B.L. Moore he lettered four years as an offensive and defensive tackle. He also threw the shot put for the track and field team. He is married to the former Mildred Lynelle McElroy.

Alcorn did what I asked and selected the best, most-qualified, logical candidate. Melvin Spears has coached in the SWAC as a Head Coach and thus if we should fail with Spears, he was the most qualified candidate for the job at the time.

Oh HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Lastest rumor has Melvin Spears becoming the Newest Head Coach at Alcorn & fellow
candidate Fred McNair will be hired by Spears to the OC.

All of this is good BUT They still must show it on the field. But Alcorn, you guys are starting to finally see that you have to look at ALL avenues in order to win. Good Hires if the Rumors are true.

Question: Just putting 2 and 2 together....Is there a possibility that Pete may be the Defensive Coordinator.

I say if you going to WAR Dammit, LOAD YOUR GUNS AS BEST AS POSSIBLE!!!

So I'm getting a lot of text that say Spears is expected to name Fred as the offensive coordinator.....I'm ok with that!!:banana:

I just thought of something...

Reuban Ducksworth was a HECK of a Running Back for Mount Olive this year. If Fred is hired as the OC, Ducksworth maybe, JUST MAYBE, might sign with Alcorn.

Sorry Arnold Walker, you might have share your playing time but just know that YOU ARE IN IT TO WIN IT ALL!!!

Sharpen as many Spears and Load as many Guns as possible!!!

FINALLY ALCORN!!! WE ARE AT THE VERY LEAST, GIVING OURSELVES A CHANCE!!!!

PERFECT! for Bridge and our 6'6 WR Perkins,Jr. I know Fred, myself, and Perkins, Sr was on the yard around the same time give or take a year so expect 6'6 to start. BOUT DAMN TIME! Collins take notes. Here comes the BIG BAD BRAVES!

Stars? Stars mean nothing. Half the people in the NFL were not 4 and 5 star athletes. Also, McNair Jr went to a bigger school with white folks...he got two stars just for that. How many stars was Steve?

I do agree that Alcorn may benefit from a McNair on staff but I am not sure if he is ready to be HC....and yes, the name would work wonders for recruiting.

McNair was the number 1 recruit in the state of Mississippi, they wanted him at cb so that's how alcorn landed him.

Congrats to both guys, if it is true they hired both then the swac is In Trouble. Spears knows how to use that name. And I'm willing to bet Steve follows.

!!!

That is not a good thing to do.....I'm talking about hiring a person that was in competition with you for the same job. Look at how it didn't work for Cole and Spears at stu. They both were finalist for that job and you see Spears was run off after 2 years.

Gonna be interesting!!!!! I dont see why folks are turning flips behind Spears......~shrugs shoulders~

Kongratz Alcorn see ya in November!

The difference in that situation is the COLE was the guy in charge while Spears was the OC (I had to bold the name COLE because...well...you get the picture.) In our case, if the rumors are true, Spears is the guy in charge while Fred is on staff. Fred just wants give back to Alcorn by helping improve the football team. Fred knows his job and position. He knows that Spears is the MAN IN CHARGE. Fred just wants to help Alcorn. He's not the, "I'm just using him to take over type". He even went to the media and said Spears would get job in the clarionledger.
