This is something that I feel should get done. That church can be relocated to another location. That being said, there are some historian of that church that would pitch a fit if that happened.
I'll comment on the Cuney Homes as well, it is a DAMN shame that it can't be touched. It's NOT displacement BUT relocating that site somewhere else so that TSU can continue to expand.
Pilgrim's membership is extremely low as it is.
You should tell that to the City of Fort Worth, and them nice folk over at TCU.I think this is one of the major differences between our schools and the pwc. A pwc would not give domain rights a second thought. We have a problem with displacing communities and I don't think that is a bad thing. Forcing people to move is not something (for the most part) HBCUs take lightly. I understand progress and the need for it but some times progress can be achieved by thinking outside the box...it may cost more or take a little longer but, in most cases, it can be done. People don't purchase and establish homes expecting to move in their old age and forcing people out in their old age or who are less fortunate is something I personally have a problem with.

There are PWC athletic programs in Kingwood and Clear Lake?I don't need to go that far north....the city of Houston is as far as I need to go. Ask Clear lake and Kingwood....hell, ask where I live in Riverwood....SMH

A stadium similar to Cy Fair's Berry stadium would fit east to west along the tiger walk. Remove the current rec and attach a new 4 story rec with gyms, weight rooms seperate for students and community and athletes, pool, locker rooms and tunnels, etc attached to the stadium on the south side spanning from the current field house and east to where the south endzone is now. Include suites. The land just east of the HPE would be tennis stadium and the Tigerbowl(football) would be spec'd for dual use for baseball softball from the south east corner of the stadium. I have a write up, a person who wants to draw a mock up and someone who would even do a blueprint. With an endowment, classrooms and ties to research it can be done...just like with UofH. I even have a way to include outreach to the community as a venue and with research, jobs and co ops for TSU students and sodexho.
Tailgating, etc would take place all along Tiger Drive aka Blodgett with stalls, parking and reduced speed avenue-style. It would also serve as a city and state competition venue. Likewise Blodgett would be open to reduced speed and priced student parking as well as beautified with TSU mascot designs, walk of fame on sidewalk, lighting and parade concourse. It would be the official non staff entrance and exit to campus. Our transportation majors would be involved in upkeep, design and even maintenance with Buildings and Grounds department.Thinking outside the box

The word i used...was similar. Not an exact copy of that stadium. And 60million...you raise that number why? To make it seem impossible? That's cool. Stick with Prairie View's issues and campus improvements under the A and THEM system. It's 2015. You can sit in the church pew fanning yourself over things or give encouragement and see that the world has changed and adapt.

Excellent vision! I would think the students/alums would be on board with something like this.Tailgating, etc would take place all along Tiger Drive aka Blodgett with stalls, parking and reduced speed avenue-style. Isn't that a Maritime Transportation program? Our transportation majors would be involved in upkeep, design and even maintenance with Buildings and Grounds department.

I even recommended that TSU could relocate the road/pedestrian walkway, but that doesn't appear to be a popular idea with a lot of TSU folks. What I'm posting are just illustrations of what could be done to make room for progress and road/pedestrian walkways are always being relocated to make room for future growth.
The illustration below is approximately 700 ft. of road/pedestrian walkway relocation:

Something like this wouldn't be bad in that space....

It seems like they want to maintain their track field around the football field.
I'm just saying put that stadium around a track in that spot.
