Cornell West: "Obama has a certain fear of free black men"

Obama has done that, been doing that, and has not stopped doing that.
Guess you missed it when he was trying to get shat done for the middle class and get the economy rolling only to be stonewalled by the PARTY of NO.

:

In 2009 and 2010 Republicans were in the minority in both houses of Congress. They could pass nothing, subpoena nobody, investigate nothing.

They only gained control of Congress at the beginning of 2011. But even without the blessing of Congress, President Obama and the executive branch possess vast powers to change the nation's direction.

Obama could direct the US Post Office and federal agencies to purchase electric cars, trucks and buses, for example, creating countless green jobs and market incentives for improving those technologies.

The vast research and manufacturing capacity of General Motors, which the White House controlled without any congressional oversight, could have been directed to manufacture high speed rail, electric vehicles or improved home building and retrofit materials that radically reduce carbon emissions and provide jobs for millions.

The president and his party passed their 2009 health care bill, which was really a bailout of health insurance companies through the Senate with a simple majority. Congressional Democrats can sweep aside the super majority rule any time they choose.

Oh, and President Obama extended the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Something he promised he wouldn't do if elected.

And BTW:
EVERY 1st Ladys Fashion style has been on the covers of every magazine in the world everytime they step out. Ya'll act like black people can't do the same thing for Michelle Obama as was done for every other 1st lady in history.

Good lawd. :smh:

I said spend MORE time. Not that is up to discussion. And when the working and middle class are being squeezed like a lemon at Chik Fil A, I could care less about how their family dresses.

People are too d..... to understand that an insurance company is nothing but an investment company and the healthcare bill is nothing but a giveaway to the investment/banking cartel. Just like when Bush passed the medical presciption bill (add the pharma lobby to that one). Neither is paid for and neither contained price caps. Who in Americal buys anything in volume without a discount. Incredible.

Fam, the average American will never actually read a congressional bill to see what it impacts or even a decent summary of a bill. Folks dayum sure won't research policies.

I got one for you that no one will admit

Obama's Education Policies= Bush's Education Policies

They are simply being implemented better. Instead of shoving ideas down schools throats through NCLB, this administration waves a carrot and calls it "Race To The Top"

If the health care bill really extended medical care to additional millions, why did Obama delay its implementation till 2014, after what he hopes is his re-election. And why is the Obama White House granting wave after wave of exemptions to its employer mandate provisions, including to high-profit, low wage employers like McDonalds?

The employer mandate is already full of holes, and these are growing more numerous every week. Arguably, the single unambiguously good thing in the Obama health care bill was the extension of Medicaid to millions not covered before.

But Obama's willingness to put Medicaid on the table in deficit reduction negotiations virtually guarantees that gains in the number of the insured may be largely erased before the bill takes effect in 2014, no matter who is president then. And as millions of American families know, being insured is no guarantee that health care will be affordable or even available.

Pops, we should follow Nancy Pelosi's lead in that we wouldn’t find out what was in the 2,000 page health care bill until it was passed.

So what's the problem? This is what an electorate is supposed to do.

I just want a black Supreme Court justice. And no, Uncle Thomas does not count.
Here's hoping we don't get someone that's like Janet Rogers Brown as that would be horrible.

.

I think there is nothing wrong with questioning policies or demanding a little from our leaders from time to time, considering we took the time to vote for them.

In black America, questioning the annointed ones will get you called a hater

Cant talk about Obama, MLK or Tyler Perry

Do you know how easy it is to block any bill that comes through the House or Senate when one party votes as a block? Even if every Demo in those places vote yes for something, they would still have to get at least 10 to 20 REPUBs to vote with them. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN and the REPUBS that was threre said it was not going to happen.

REPUBS vote as a block and don't care if the other side like it or not. DEMOS are too busy trying to appease everybody. They will fracture and splinter the first time someone gives them a dirty look. :smh:

Bruh,
Dems had a veto proof voting block for dayum near a year.

I said spend MORE time. Not that is up to discussion. And when the working and middle class are being squeezed like a lemon at Chik Fil A, I could care less about how their family dresses.

And before OBAMA, most blacks was not even talking about the 1st lady or politics period. Just to state the sad azz truth, before OBAMA, MOST blacks didn't even bother to get in the process and vote. You know that is the truth and nothing but the truth.

We as a black race have a VERY confusing mentality.

When one black steps out from the crowd, he or she is talked about like a dog by his own race of people.

On the other hand, when some so-called gangster named Lil Boosie gets put behind bars who has done nothing but destroy the black racial culture, he gets all the support in world.

That's sad. But, us who want to be successful in life must press on. People don't get it. If you want to be successful, black and white cannot matter. YES, we know that racism still exists and will happen one time or another in our life but the fact is, it is all about playing the game of politics. Politics is a powerful tool if you know how to manipulate it.

You can talk about OBAMA and people do listen if the ones talking talk like they have a brain in their head. :smh:

I just hate these clown azz TEA Party mofos and these self-appointed, uppity black leaders, that have been talking BS about OBAMA before he even got elected. Remember the lunitic black Politicians from the Carolinas when they went on a OBAMA tirade during the Campaign. Remember the fools in those town halls saying he was not an AMERICAN, HES an ARAB. Remember Ole Jessie wanting to "Cut his nutts off" because he didn't pick HILLARY as his running mate?

Just saying.

My interpretation (which means nothing) is that we see the inverse of the corporate negro syndrome. High ranking Blacks in corporate America many times are limited in what they say against the political structure because they are paid by the benefactors and supporters of the structure. Now, Black folks are so tied to Obama and unwilling to hear criticism, if you make your money from being a Black "leader", you are literally making yourself an outcast if you criticize the president. You will get zero to minimal support on that front. The election of Obama did exactly what it was supposed to do - shut up the left.

Obama is not perfect of course, but I don't recall seeing any examples of this fear or apprehension that West speaks of.

From reading between the lines, it sounds like West is simply trying to suggest that Obama can't relate because he is of mixed heritage and grew up in certain areas. Never mind the fact that he was a community organizer in Chicago and he is viewed as Black by nearly everyone with a working pair of eyes. I suppose West is an "independent black brother" who ironically has also depended on Princeton and Harvard for some checks, but I guess that's besides the point.

It seems like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't these days. If you didn't grow up in the hood or if you went to a PWC, some folks think that you aren't Black enough. At the same time, if you grew up in the hood or if you went to an HBCU, some of those same people will question your background or the quality of your education. We are not a monolithic group of people. If a Black man is a "free" as West stated, then that also means that he is free to choose the path of his liking.

I respect West and all, but I can't roll with him on this one.

And could not even decide what direction to take or who to follow under PELOSI's leadership. All OBAMA could do was set the tone. It was PELOSI's job to get the troops in line under her roof. She could not even get a group of 1st graders to follow her. Go back and look at the record from that year. YOU HAD A HAND FULL OF DEMOS VOTING WITH REPUBS TO KILL SHAT BECAUSE THEY WERE SCARED OF THE "TAKE OUR COUNTRY GROUND SWELL THAT THE TEA PARTY HAD STARTED BACK HOME. I'll say it again. Demos fracture at the first dirty look. REPUBS, for better or worse, stick together no matter what as a voting block in Washington these days.

That was the biggest mistake the DEMOS made when they appointed "San Francisco Pelosi" as their leader. I said it then and it was proven later.

If you look at the places his parents worked (powerful foundations with other "ties"), Obama is not anywhere close to life experience of a Black man in America and he has made that clear. Ya'll just dont listen.
