Cornell West: "Obama has a certain fear of free black men"

If the health care bill really extended medical care to additional millions, why did Obama delay its implementation till 2014, after

Let the "political einsteins" on here tell it.... It's all called "political process" and it MUST happen that way... and if you say other way.. you know nothing about politics...smh and lmao

I wish some of them on here allow me to brainwash them.. I would tax the shyt out of every last one of em...lmao

Bruh,
Dems had a veto proof voting block for dayum near a year.

POP you are staring to see the light!! You will soon start to be called an uncle tom.. by them you know you have freed your mind from being born into a certain political party OUR people finds NO wrong with..

Obama wasn't drafted, he volunteered for the job, he campaigned for it. If the black president can't or won't address matters that disproportionately affect our communities, then why do we have any kind of collective racial obligation to support him?

And if the first black president owes us nothing – not green or any other kind of jobs, then black America should be absolved of any collective duty to support him. It's only when we opt out of that foolish bargain, that we will see the beginnings once again of a meaningful black politics, and a black agenda.

Sorry for getting off task on this thread. I am very passionate about getting money into the hands of people who want to actually build our communities and employ the residents of the community to work in the community.

If you look at the places his parents worked (powerful foundations with other "ties"), Obama is not anywhere close to life experience of a Black man in America and he has made that clear. Ya'll just dont listen.

AGAIN! AMEN!!!

Zombies!

HUH?!?! WHAT?!?!?! So sense WT never HELPED us.. we suppose to say FUG IT?!?!? Some of you dudes are brainwashed to death....smdh

You missed my point. WE as a people should have taken care of our business a long time ago. Why do we have to depend on the president for these type of issues?

bc we are zombies, political einsteins, sheep, dumm....., and we are afraid of free black men ~shrugs~

If a brother can't get an intellectually honest debate on a messageboard that is supposedly patronized by black college graduates then where can get one at but that just goes back to the dilemna of black society.

I say the same thing about Black frats and sorrorities. Compared to the work that BGLO's were doing in the mid 20th century, todays greeks are irrelevant to society.

Someone talk about real issues on here... We all know the drill..someone will make a "dumb" joke then the whole thread turns into "smack"... I can't believe some of the BLACK college grads on here are this silly...smh

Pop:

I have got to get back involved. I really enjoyed that work and learned more about small business finance than I have in a career in accounting.

The Secretary of Ed has the power to shift SOME money around in Department to a certain extent. Congress suggested cutting the grants for Minority Serving Institutions and they accepted with no fight. That is the reason HBCU presidents were down in Houston last month lighting into John Wilson, the Director of the White House Initiatives on HBCU's.

The cut went to the Minority Serving Institutions program. It provides funding for HBCU's, Tribal Colleges, etc...

Lets just be perfectly honest. The President is catering to Hispanics cause he needs their votes for 2012. He doesn't have to worry about black folks. Personally, I don't blame him and most of us would do the same.

DAMMIT!!

Didn't I been say this?!!?! Obama is basically ignoring the BLACK CAUCUS.. LUVdaBOOM.. this is one of Cornel main reasoning for saying Obama is afraid! Remember the black agenda YOU ALL was so BEHIND and in SUPPORT of... Obama don't want NO part of it and refuse to meet with the BC on those issues. BUT he met with the hispanic multiple times.

He is afraid to address the black issues in fear of WHITE american calling him a "racist"....

I didn't make this up.. Cornel was on MSNBC with all the other Democrats including the WHITE mediator who is a DEM. and he was even asking WHY isn't Obama addressing those issues. While Obama's newly found puppet "Al Sharpton" brainwashed a lot of folk into saying.."IT'S NOT UP TO OBAMA TO DO NOTHING FOR BLACKS"..

FUK AL SHARPTON and OBAMA if this is the message he wants us to believe.

That was a serious answer to your question you kept asking.

You missed my point. WE as a people should have taken care of our business a long time ago. Why do we have to depend on the president for these type of issues?

What can blacks do when we have ZERO TOP political pull.. and a history of the house of reps and senate being racist! and presidents doing VERY little to see to it we get our fair share...

What could we serious do?!?! The percentage of blacks vs. whites alone in this country let you know what we could do here ALONE...

We NEVER had a house majority or minority that had the BLACKS intrest at heart... never.. and now we get a FN black president.. and he isn't doing what MANY of us EVEN white expected to do for the people who have been politicall oppressed for years.. we supposed to say... "Stop hating on him, because he black".?!?!

Maaaann... never mind..

bc we are zombies, political einsteins, sheep, dumm....., and we are afraid of free black men ~shrugs~

someone that see no wrong in any person.. is a zombie.. even if it is a dude loving too much on a chick..

political eisteins or folk who except any and everything the government tell them because they "think" it is always best to be politically correct

I ain't call no one dumm... and sheep is the same as a zombie..

Hey Phreeze:

If we werent supposed to expect anything for our vote, I wish he would have told me that prior to election day. It took me almost 8 hours to vote and I missed a day of work. I would have stopped after the first hour.

PREACH!

Who has that photo of OBAMA standing on a podium at SU... I wonder if he told that crowd..

"Now look! When I get in office, don't expect me to do nothing the past 43 presidents wouldn't have done for yall azzes...The Change I am talking about have nothing to do with that..Yall should have been fixed yall issues when MLK took to the streets... I ain't here for that!"

I seriously doubt he would have been elected our 44th president had he delivered that message to all them HBCUs he proudly stood in front of on his campaign trail..

You missed my point. WE as a people should have taken care of our business a long time ago. Why do we have to depend on the president for these type of issues?

Well, at least from my standpoint, I don't believe people are criticizing President Obama because they want hands out or want to depend on him to do X,Y, Z.

But as president, he is the guy in charge. You see him bailout Wall Street, the banks etc., but folks don't see that type of dough being invested in their communities and they wonder why.

Black unemployment is at 17 percent. White unemployment is at 7.7 percent. And it doesn't seem to be improving. You have folks in Vegas literally living underground because there are no jobs there.

And if those people can't expect Obama -- the first president that looks like us to throw us a bone -- then when will our needs ever be addressed from the White House? Obama ran on hope and change. A lot of people took that campaign edict at face value.

But if there isn't an expectation or demand for something in return for a vote, then what is the purpose of the process?

Shut up you Uncle Tom...lol

This cat was even the first politician in modern history to SELL yard signs. They usually beg you to place a sign in their yard and he was selling them and they were all THROUGH the hood. They were so hot in St. Louis, they could not keep them in stock. I know this because of some of the Dem Committeemen I know.

I see.
So you got to be the son of black ditch diggers, struggling in life, to see what life as a black man is about. 2011 and college educated negros still talking NOT BLACK ENOUGH. Ok lets play the game starting with Cornell West.

His father had a job as a contractor for the Department of defense. Not the usual job of a black man back then. His mother was a principal of a highschool. Not the typical job for a black woman back then. Cornell himself graduated from HARVARD and got his post graduate degrees from Princeton.

He has been bouncing from appointment to appointment from Harvard to Princeton to any other PWC you can name. I don't see HBCU in none of it unless he collecting a FEE to speak. Just a dude that grew up PRIVILIDGED, graduated from IVY LEAGUE WHITE UNIVERSITIES, and tried to made up for it by transforming himself into a black semi-radical speaker.

Opps.......can't talk about him traveling the same privilidged dirt road as the OBAMAS.

I was at FAMU when Jeb Bush said he would do nothing for Blacks. Folks came out of the woodwork to vote against him. I guess Obama learned from that.
