While I agree with Lil Wayne on the fact that folks (particularly Black folks) are/were quick to give to Haiti but can't get them to donate $5 to a program in their own backyards...
I think what helped with raising funds with Haiti was how quickly Wyclef set up the whole text $5/$10 and made it simple for folks. Eventually the other orgs followed and I think that's why so much money was raised for Haiti.

The American public gave to the Red Cross... who distributed that money into their general operating budget instead of to Katrina survivors.

There's a plan for N.O. That why I believe that they havent done anything for the areas that need it the most.

Think that they are planning to turn parts of N.O. into the Hamptons or resorts. That's my guess.

If look on that link-someone did mention that someone did reply to Weezy's statement about the lack of support to New Orleans. I have to look for that exact quote later on. Bengal pretty much said it. They are fixing up the parts that need the most (and the ones that could get the most money the fastest).
What Weezy has to understand is they don't want certain folks back. So whatever part of New Orleans he is talking about not getting help must be a real bad area or they are waiting for those folks to give up and put whatever money pit that they can.

My father and I were talking about that one time how so much money was given to Haiti but little was done for N.O and it further proved what we had been saying that the the U.S. will do more for others than they will for themselves and that is why so many countries look at us with so much contempt and really don't favor us sometimes when dealing with their own affairs. See, the thing is that "whites" (not all, just those that apply) will have you to believe that they are doing well in trying help with problems when all the countries know that this country was built off of slave hands and manipulation. The president of Brazil stated in October of '09 that "the people who built the country thought they knew every but history shows that they knew NOTHING." The majority of the concepts about how to govern came from other countries such as Rome and Greece. Even though this country has achieved a lot it is still way behind in terms of maturity...mainly because the way things were achieved in terms of gathering knowledge (aweful display of stupidity

Of course, anybody would help their own first. But my brother's fire and my co-worker's fire didnt happen at the same time. My brother's fire happened five years ago, and if I didnt help him then, maybe I learned from it and that would be all the more reason I would step in and help my co-worker now.

Just like my grandmother's old neighborhood. It was STRAIGHT projects right out of an episode of The Wire. She kept saying they were going fix that area up and she wouldn't move.
Se died there in 1993 and 2 years later-they started rebuilding and now you go in that area and it's townhouses and everything there. You still have some of the poor folks there but they keep the area up and you rarely hear about any crime there. The only thing making the area look bad is the low performing high school (with cheating scandal):shame:.
Now the so called suburbs (North Dallas) are having all the drug and gang issues.

These 2 statements are basically the point that the lower Ninth ward isnt going to get fixed up. Sad, but true. They dont want those people back and they're going to use that land for re-gentification purposes. They're doing it here around the Braves stadium and other parts of the city and they're going to do it there. The dam flooding just sped up the process/plan that they already had in motion. Now, they're looking at capitalizing of it.
