Loyalty & Respect
10. Season of the Tiger:smh::smh:- When BET announced the airing of this show, many of us thought they had finally convinced Tiger Woods that he was a brother. However, when word broke that they were profiling Grambling State University, overweight QB Bruce Eugene, and blind mella jella bka Melvin Spears, we instantly knew that this was trouble.

9. Baton Rouge parade of Champions circa 2004- Everyone in the state of Louisiana was estatic when the LSU tigers won the National Championship. However, there was very little mention when they allowed the Southern University Jaguars to march at the back of the parade.:smh::smh::smh:

8. Alabama State University- They are 668 reasons that I could mention but I will spare you the reading. Copple that with the Cole Brothers writing strip club checks and you have as the NCAA puts it: "Lack of Institutional Controll"

7. Bruce Eugene Crying- Grambling State University QB became the face of the school during the Doug Williams era and led Grambling back to the promised land. However, many will only remember his Peyton Manning-esq choke ups during the bayou classic and the tragic scene of player and coach crying on the sidelines. Now, we know why the overweight lova never played softball.
P.S. I will spare you the picture, i know you have seen it.

6. Priscilla Slade- We can not decide on which one is worse, the fact that she used over $650,000 on her garden or the fact that she only paid back 127k and walked scotch free while her partner got ten years. :smh::smh::smh:

5. Alabama State 1952 game vs FAMU- Sad day in sports history when a basketball team can win a game with only 4 players. After the loss, Alabama State University considered dropping basketball as a sport all-together.

4. Grambling State University bands performs with the University of Houston- Now, the World Famed may be known as such for all the wrong reasons but the morale of Black America reached an all-time low when the Fame decided to jump for the white man once again. Hey, this is not surprising though, considering Grambling has been embarrasing black folks for over 40 years now.

3 (tie).Alcorn State University- Whether it was Johnny Taylor's claim to be the best winless team or the rumored prayer for Steve Mcnair by the announcer of a football game or the recent article in a national magazine, that told the tale of $5.00 buffets and 20 hour busrides. Alcorn has given us a reason to feel bad for black people again.

3. (tie) MVSU 2007 MVSU vs JSU Football game- Proudly sporting fresh white tees, Valley once again proved why they haven't beaten Jackson State since the days that 2pac walked the earth. The student body proudly boasted that they would rather go to hell than J-State without realizing that they were only step away.. (Hell they go to Valley). Jerry Rice send help fast...:smh:

2. Prarie View losing streak- It is always sad to see the history one the nation's most storied HBCU's being reduced to a ESPN punchline. Those 80 games made Noah's 40 days on the Ark seem like a walk in the park for Panthers fans.

1. Grambling State University Tampax commercial- I mean seriously, how much will a school do for money. When tampax started the "Tampax was there commercials" we expected to see women doing various activities bragging on the strength of their tampons but I don't think anyone expected to be reminded of bleeding vaginas while watching their favorite dancer girls do kicks. :smh::smh::smh: Sad day in Swac History. To make is worse, the commercial came complete with dancing refs......:shame:

Honorable mention: Grambling State Band 2007 Bayou Classic, Jacoby's billboard,

footnote: AAMU, UAPB were left out because they contributed nothing to the swac.

Naw team.....you forgot one.

1. (tie) The Hiring of James Bell. A 1-9 High School coach who was hailed by 99.9% of the JSU fans as the best coach in the SWAC (thanks GR).

:lmao::lmao:

Mane, you must have forgot about Southern's College Hill.

Man it was on my list but when I saw tha pic from the Parade of Champions and realized that BR people couldn't tell the difference between a tiger and a jaquar, (notice the writing on the stomach of the dolls) I was hurt.....

Those listings were individual things that "if" they were embarassing, embarassed the individual school. Now when JSU went to all those playoffs and lost most of the 16 by DOUBLE DIGIT MARGINS, that embarassed the conference.

Mike Bigg, there's no way you can ignore that TAMPAX commercial. That commercial ALONE set Black women back 100 years.:smh::lol:

And as far as the playoffs, JSU was usually the lower seed, having to play against number one or two seed teams on their home field. That's nothing compared to that TAMPAX mess. I mean, that's kinda personal ain't it?:emlaugh:

No arguments from this side of the screen. lol :emlaugh: But you could've easily put that 0 fer 16 playoff record up in that top 10 somewhere. Maybe you should've created a top 20. lol Or god forbid a top 50. Post some scores of Div I - FBS basketball teams vs our squads. Hell, that'd take up 25-30 right there alone. :emlaugh:

Funny list though.

How old were you when that commercial aired? Maybe you didn't know that most women have menstrual cycles from around age 13 til Mid 50's. I don't think that was the first commercial that addressed female ovulation... or are you saying that there's not a market for black females who want to practice good female hygiene. It is such limited and "rep time" thinking that holds us back...

If I wanted to say Black women don't want to practice good female hygiene, I would have typed it. Come on MB, you're better than that.

You mean to tell me MB, that you don't have a problem with your school being linked to TAMPAX tissue? You mean to tell me that a school such as Grambling HAD to do this commercial just to get some easy pub? Grambling's band is now forever known as the TAMPAX band.

MB, you can try all you want, but you can't spin this to portray anything less than dirty, bloody tissue paper being flush down the toilet.:smh:

The problem was not that Gram performed in the Tampax commercial...thats a good thing. the problem is the commercial could have and should have been done in a more classy way. That was the worst most classless commericial in the history of the world. It was really ******* to say the least. Its obvious that Gram had NO say so in the production of the commercial or didnt know that women grinding their crotches in a feminine hygiene commercial probably isnt the RIGHT THING TO DO.

Advertising to the black population is beginning to improve. Usually when you do a black commericial, somebody is dancing or singing and nothing is said about the product. Either blacks have gotten smarter or advertisers decided that black folks like to actually know something about the product they want to buy.

Gramblings level of sophistication has always come into question. But how long is the "we just country" excuse going to last. We have to do better.

Pop....GR is kinda disappointed in you man. You left out one of the worst days in the history of the SWAC

Three injured during halftime brawl between Southern University and Prairie View A&M - bands battle during football game

Three people reportedly were hurt recently when a brawl erupted among members of the Southern University and Prairie View A & M marching bands when one band began its halftime performance before the other band was off the field.

At least three people were taken to a hospital, including a member of the Prairie View band who reportedly was hit in the face with a musical instrument, officials said.

The football game between the schools was played at a neutral field, the Lamar University Cardinals Stadium. Southern won 37-7, extending Prairie View's losing streak to 80 games, a record for a major college football team.

This was truly the saddest day in the history of the SWAC.
But the crime really wasnt as bad as the cover up from the SU grown folks. That even sadder

Its just how they was raised. Here they go again:

Those thugs from New Orleans (thanks JR) really needed to be weeded out of that band. That excuse is no longer acceptable.

You right Great One, that was a sad day for the swac but I try to blast too much stuff about them Yellas and them Jags. Man, you know I live in New Orleans right now and they be trying to slash my tires because I have a JSU tag. I have watch any light skinned brother that I come in contact with.

In 1993, when 29 members of the Texas Southern's Oceans of Soul marching band got caught shoplifting electronics in Japan and the school president disbanded the ENTIRE band. :smh: I heard they got away with some REALLY good stuff though..
