Maybe this child did have some anger issues, but I'm still having trouble accepting the fact that he just uped punched the s&c coach for trying to keep him (Lee) behind the sideline.
The articles are so vague and one-sided. I really hope there's more to this story because I don't want to see another young Black man's future wasted.
He did it to himself. If his future is ruined then he has no one to blame. These young American men of African decent are being raised to think they can do no wrong and any minor wrong they do is not their fault. Their comes a time when you must accept accountability for yourself and your actions.
Life is a culmination of the choices one makes. Choices have consequences, what ever they are good or bad be ready because you made the choice.
If he completed all requirements to earn his degree then send it to him in the mail, he earned it. Then allow the legal process to run it's course.
Lioness I'm all for helping black males but as a father of one who plays football I tell him straight up if a coach tells you to do something and it is not detrimental to your life or future DO IT. I tell him to treat the coaches as if they were me period.
Now I think there is more to the story but of course none of the players are talking and none of the coaches are talking.....
I feel you, I really do. But he needed to go the the administration. If the H.C. isn't doing anything go the the AD, student affairs, the media, go voice your concern.DaS, I totally agree that life is about choices, and we all must accept the consequences that come with our choices. I get that. But I still find it hard to believe that this child just punched that coach without any apparent reason. I stated in an earlier post on this thread that while I DO NOT condone Latrell Lee punching the coach, I DO understand the action IF he had ongoing problems with this coach. I clicked on one of the links Tiger1 posted and the Tennessean came up. There was a discussion among the TSU folks and one poster mentioned how he faithfully goes to just about every practice the Tigers have. This poster mentioned AND reminded others in that forum of the controversial, borderline racist comments and methods this coach used during practice; he also said Latrell Lee had ONGOING problems with the s&c coach, which Head Football coach Reed did nothing about or bother to address.
I said it once, and I'll say it again: provoking someone to anger/wrath/violence is worse (in my opinion) than the actual act of violence itself because it's what compels a person take the action. It doesn't make it right IF he (Lee) was provoked, but it is understandable. And IF this is what took place, the s&c coach should have BEEN let go.
Regardless of whether he brought this on himself or if he was provoked, it doesn't change my sadness of seeing this happen to another young Black brother.
The football players may not be talking about what happened, but apparently they felt he (Lee) deserved his degree. Tiger1 posted another tweet about the TSU team rallying support for him (Lee).

See, I just look at it from a different angle. If you have a problem with me follow procedure, file a complain that's fine. I have to deal with the consequences, but understand it can cost you your life if when put your hands on people. So before anyone goes a swinging they better be ready to fight for their life. Lets say the S&C coach also applies kinesiology tape and had some scissors in his pocket and stabbed this azz. Someone needs to teach these highly emotional young men some self control, and quit telling them it ain't their fault. I don't give a damn what he said or what name he called him. That young mean had NO right in the word to put his hands on that man. That was a Punk azz, coward move anyway he fully padded up with helmet on an everything. I wish the coach would have grabbed his face mask and slung his azz through the goal post like a field goal. Everyone wants so say he was provoked, until it hits home. Wait til you daughter/son gets to fussing with their significant and gets K.O.ed. Would you tell the police it's okay my daughter/son provoked the situation by name calling?
Question: What do you do when you've followed the chain of command to resolve/terminate an issue and/or troublesome person and still no action takes place? Not saying this was done in this particular case, just interested in your answer.
I want him arrested!
