He wasnt talking down. He was telling the truth. You were saying we aint shat,we the worst, etc, etc, etc. There is a huge difference. How can we expect to get recruits to come to our schools if we forever talking like you were talking. Talking about the administrators/AD's is one thing, but you will never ever hear me question my school. Big difference.

Man please.:shame:
It's the same thing no matter how you slice it.
These kids want to play more than just "CONFERENCE GAMES" and compete for more than a "CONFERENCE TITLE" and that's why the talent we used to get across the board are going to non-swac school's if they don't go the FBS route.

Ain't nobody talking down so save that crap.
Like you said, It's the truth so don't pick and choose who you want to call out for TELLING THE TRUTH CAUSE I AIN'T HEARING IT NO MORE.:retard:

They wanted this BS so they can meet on a weekly basis slapping each other on the back, they got it and I'm not gonna sit hear acting like the decisions being made are worth a crap.
And reading the 5 pages of comment's from all the poster's repping the schools hear, I'm not alone in not hearing it anymore.:lecture:

Players,

Whether we want to believe it or not... recruiters from those other conferences are using the "they are afraid to play outside their conference" as a recruiting tool.

It's bad enuff that the rest of the conference members can't get an auto bid for winning the conference due to the BC and TDC (not saying that it's GSU, SU, or Bama State's fault, as that is really a decision that the NCAA made (imo) after the fact). But to take away a possible "At Large Bid" that one of the other schools might be able to garner due to a SCG that is really just a rematch of a game previously played just seems to be a bad approach. I know the SCG is all about revenue, but what about the benefit of increased conference and program exposure from participating in the playoffs.

Take last year...suppose PV and JSU had actually played and PV's record would have still only shown 1 loss all season. They were still would not have been eligible for an "at-large" bid because of the stupid tie breaker in effect then (since resolved) and the SCG requirement. The same thing could happen again this year for other teams (outside of Bama State, GSU, and SU)...that just doesn't sit well with me.

You don't have to convince me.
Everything posted up there is the truth.

I guess I have just gotten to the point where i just don't even care anymore because I just don't see how the power's that be in this conference can't see the harm they are doing to our school's with these clownish decisions.

This is hilarious in a pathetic sort of way.

Guess I'll continue my transition to not caring about SWAC ball. I'm usually excited about the prospects of another football season by the time summer training rolls around. Between Braddy/Comegy and the SWAC office, I just can't bring myself to get excited this time around. Apathy is really taking its toll, and it's scaring the hell outta me.

"increased conference and program exposure from participating in the playoffs"

yeah right!

:lol::lol::lol:

I think moreso that what we get from the SCG...at least in terms of diversity of audiences.

For instance...say Bama State wins the SWAC and reaches the playoffs against Richmond, Georgia Southern, or Delaware. You don't think that presents your program to a region of the country that might not even currently know yall exist (not a put down). Let's say yall roll into Richmond and go thru them like shiiit thru a goose... I think it would open some eyes!!!

MikeB,
You say the SCG is about revenue, (TDC and BC too), but are the playoffs also about revenue?

show me where you have ever seen me say I was for the mandate.
:scared:

MH,

Maybe I wasn't clear... not implying that seeking revenue is a bad thing. It's always about the dollar...and yes the Playoffs is about the dollar too. However, I don't know if the payout is as good as the SCG for any 1 particular team. What I am saying is that unless it's Grambling or Southern from the West or you guys from the East... those same two teams could possibly gain more exposure and in the long term more money than the two SCG opponents.

Another benefit... future scheduling. Imagine Bama State goes to the playoffs and plays Samford. Can you imagine the crowd you would have at a game against them at the start of the next season?

You have posted in the past you care nothing for the playoffs or really playing OOC games featuring non hbcu's.
Well....................Wish granted cause both are a thing of the past now.

Thank You its not 1969 anymore its 2009 and time to adapt to the times, real talk kids today could give a damn about a HBCU experience they wondering why we still have HBCU's and thats the truth. This is so sad on so many levels.

In the current setup of the playoffs, I can't imagine that. Cause I can't imagine the school foregoing the TDC. Can you? Cause after all it's about the dollar, right?

and players,
I haven't said I "care nothing for the playoffs" or playing OOC non-hbcus"

All the threads that we have had on the playoff 's, and what it would take to make the entire conference playoff eligiable that you have flat out clowned?
Not saying you the only one that did this but COME ON now.

Of course not...maybe Bama State wasn't a good example. No way should you guys forego the TDC...too much tradition and definitely too much $$$.

I was talking about outside of "us" big money season ending games folk,

players,
What I have ALWAYS said is that the TDC (BC too) should not end because of a desire to participate in the playoffs.

Well. :lmao:
It's all water under the bridge now cause none of it matters anymore.
I'm still holding out hope Alcorn agrees to have the CCC on Thanksgiving day now cause any post season play for a SWAC team is a thing of the past.:lecture:

Ain't happenin' this year, bruh. And with that said, I'll see yall for Homecoming! :wavey:

playoffs... playoffs... playoffs......

What has the playoffs EVER done for this conference? Going to the playoffs will get your better recruits? Being ELIGIBLE to go to the playoffs will get you better recruits? Tenn State and FAMU folks hollaring on every board about playoffs and aint seen a playoff game in 10 years.

Since we crawled into our SWAC hole, we damm sure not getting the recruit's we used too.
Now that being said.

Dude................Calm down.
You have had your wish granted and the battle for playoff's or no playoff's is over.
NO PLAYOFFS EVER AGAIN FOR THE SWAC.

We gonna dance with each other 9 games a season PLUS 1 for 2 teams.
Be happy......................:flippy:

SCSU feels that going to the playoffs does get us better recruits. we have had several D-1 level recruits choose SCSU and specifically mention that they like the chance to play for the title. does that mean you cant get them in the SWAC? No. But being eligible to go to the playoffs IS a selling point. And I know for a fact (relative who was offered by several low level D-1 schools and several MEAC and SWAC schools can attest) that the fact that SWAC schools only play for a "conference and HBCU title" is used against them. and successfully more often than not.

I know but hey.
With all the crap going on you never know.

Alcorn want to take it back to the reservation when the contract is up after next year anyway.

That is why you schedule home-home games and play in Classics.

I am against the mandate but I am also not sold on the playoffs. If the playoffs were so great, what did we gain from it from 1978 to 1998? What is the MEAC gaining from it?

We need a commish with some balls and fines for scheduling more than one D2, fines for scheduling conference teams as OOC opponents or a ban on it, fines for scheduling more than one 1-A team, and fines for not having a complete schedule.

Then where is the gap between the MEAC and the SWAC?

The SWAC certainly has the right idea about this. We just don't take advantage of what is before us. Our dumb ADs went looking for "money games". We could make more of a statement by all 10 of us using 2 of our 4 nonconference games to play 1-AA PWCs than we can make by playing in ONE playoff game.

Overall, I feel there is a gap. A huge gap? no. but observable? yes.

Does taht mean the SWAC cannot beat a MEAC school? no. but does that mean to head, we wuold win more games? I would say look at the meac/swac challenge records.

I sincerly feel that if you take our top 2 or 3 schools against yours, we beat them more than we lose. not crush them, not sweep them, but win, more often than not.

some of that is coaching. but a lot of it is recruiting. If you look at our recruiting, it has clearly gone WAY up every year for the past few. I will research some articles from past classes with quotes, but dozens of our recruits over the years that could have gone to bigger schools mention that they like the fact that we compete for the 1-AA title, AND the fact that thye can play the "big boys" like clemson, or Georgia tech (2010)

again, does that mean that the meac would dominate the swac from top to bottom? no. coaching has a lot to do withit....but you take a SCSU team or a famu team with good coaching and our recruits, vs a jackson state or grambling (record wise your best 2 teams from last year), and I think that SCSU beats both 7 outta 10m and famu does as well.....

just my opinion.....again, does that mean the swac cant get great recruits? no....but you are arguing that NOT going to the playoffs has no effect. We argue that it does.

Also, I would challenge you with this. You argue that not going to the playoffs doesnt matter. So then do you think that the fact that we DO compete for the playoffs somehow hurts us? Look at our program. In what way would SCSU NOT competeing for the playoffs HURT us.

I understand you are not a playoff fan. But it has done nothing to hurt our cause. the level that it has HELPED may be debateable. but the fact that it HAS helped is not.
