Swac Championship Game

I think the SCG has drawn well in the 3 years so far. The first year featured SU and JSU. Yes, I will agree that those 2 schools have fans that will travel. Also, you have to remember that year each SWAC school brought their bands, so that also increased attendance.

So, attendance year 1 ~50,000, year 2 ~30,000 and year 3 ~ 30,000. These are not bad numbers. If you look at the playoff attendance in 1-AA, I am sure you will not find these numbers.

SCG1-48,000 (10 TO 12K CAME TO SEE THE BANDS)
SCG2-30,000
SCG3-38,000

APPROXIMATE FIGURES

You ain't got a damn thang to back up this. All 48,000 came to see the game. You can't disprove that no more than you can prove that 10 to 12K came to see some bands.

This game will be nothing more than a waste of time after we go to the 9 game conference schedule. We ain't making no money. 10 schools splitting a coupla thousand dollars ain't bout nothing.

So did the said "SWAC OFFICIAL" asked each fan as they walked through the gate what they came for and 10-12,000 of them said they came to see the bands...? or is that OPINION?

lol....foolishness.

Mach,

I got as much proof as you have. NONE!!!

SMH @ "a SWAC official told me."

Lewis,

Maybe Machiavelli is expressing a little hate himself. He ain't content knowing that Gram is 2 time defending champ. He wants deny the fact that waaayyyyyyyyyyyyy more people came to SCG I than any other championship game, even though the other 2 had Bama teams playing Gram. I'm sure there were plenty of Bama fans at the game. But they can't do it all by themselves.

I FIGURED AS MUCH. BUT YOU WOULD WANT US TO BELIEVE YOU ON YOUR WORD. BUT ANYONE THAT WOULD THINK THAT THE ENTIRE CROWD THAT ATTENDED THE 1ST SCG 1 CAME TO SEE THE 2 TEAMS NEEDS HELP. BATTLE OF THE BAND COMPETITIONS ARE BRINGING 20K TO 30K IN VARIOUS VENUES IN THE SOUTH WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE BANDS BEING HIGH SCHOOL. IT WAS 40K IN JACKSON ON A SUNDAY, THE DAY AFTER jsu HOMECOMING. SO YOU ARE SAYING THAT 7 OUT 10 SWAC BANDS IN ONE PLACE AT ONE TIME WOULD GET OVER 10K.

Mach,

You don't get it, do you. You were the one who put that little parenthetical beside the attendance for SCG I. Not me. I simply made a statement to show you that anyone can make a claim without a shred of proof. That's why I said all 48K was there for the game and told you that you couldn't disprove it. And you can't. My point wasn't that there were 48K there just for the game, cause I don't know how many were there for the band, but that your claim that 10-12K was there for the bands was baseless.

BTW, I'd much rather take my word than that of "a SWAC official." Talk about S _ _.

I have always wondered how much money is made off of the game.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!

YOU DON'T GET IT. KNOW THAT YOU WANT TO HANG ON TO THE HOPE OF ATTENDANCE. THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE. IT'S SAD, I KNOW. HOLD ON TO THE RAY OF HOPE THAT IS ATTENDANCE FIGURES AT LEAST YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF. ONLY FOOLS BELIEVE THAT THE ENTIRE GROUP WAS IN ATTENDANCE JUST TO SEE THE GAME. THE BAND WAS PROMOTION PROJECT TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO ATTEND THE GAME AND MAKE MORE MONEY. I KNOW WHY YOU DON'T GET IT...

As far as attendance, yall know that SCG I was inflated because of all the bands being there. Let's not kid ourselves here.
I guess a SWAC official told you that, too, huh???

Mach....bottom line....the 48,000 came to see JSU - Southern. PERIOD.

p.s. there were 50,000 at the Battle of the Bands in Jackson. ;)

I EXPECTED BETTER FROM YOU. :smh: IT IS SAD THAT YOU WOULD EVEN SAY THAT.

If so, they did not want to see JSU but FAMU

What difference does it make? Bands are the hallmark for Black College Football. Since it was the first year the SWAC wanted to make it successful, so they included all member school bands. So, for argument sake let's say that 10-12k came to see the bands, that still gives us 38,000 in the inaugural game. I still say that is good.

So, if we get at least 30,000 every year I think it is successful. I am not sure how much money is generated; however, you can't put a price tag on the exposure for BCF and the SWAC. None of the schools are losing anything. There are more companies that are expressing interest in becoming a sponsor. This is good for the game and more sponsorship means a bigger payout.

Why are we so against the SCG. It is a good thing and it is only going to get bigger. I went last year and I am going this year. I graduated from TSU and we are not going to play in the game, but I am going to support the SWAC. I want to see a good game and enjoy the halftime show too.

Guys, let's keep an open mind about this because there are other DIV 1-AA conferences that are going to have a championship game in the near future because they see the potential. The SWAC is the envy of other Div 1AA in attendance and they only wish that they can see some of the crowds that we have at their games.

The SWAC continues to lead in attendance.

Commons sense told you that 10-12K were there for the bands or did it tell you that some unknown number of fans came to see the bands??? Again, I never denied that some folk weren't there to see the game. You just picked a number out the air and now you calling it "common sense"???

The winner of the SCG can legitimately say they are the best team in what is the lowest rated I-AA conference in football. Other than that it doesn't mean much. The SWAC has never won a game in the I-AA playoffs. The SCG sends the message to the rest of us that ya'll sced.

Write me off as a hater if you wish, definitely beginning with next year when everyone has to play everybody else, the game will serve no purpose, IMO. Someone will have already proven they are the best by beating everybody else. At least now, there are some teams you don't have to beat.

And as far was who cares about the game, I'm guessing few folk goes to the game unless (1) their team is in it or (2) they live in Alabama. It's easy to talk about who cares, but there are a lot of people not going to these games.

I SAY KEEP THE SCG . IT GIVES US NATIONAL EXPOSURE.THEY JUST NEED TO SHOW IT LIVE.IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY HAD THE HERITAGE BOWL AS REWARD FOR WINNING THE SCG. HAVE IT BILLED AS THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT THAT ONLY JSU AND SOUTHERN FANS TRAVEL B/C THAT IS NOT TRUE. I KNOW THAT UAPB FANS TRAVEL WITH THEM NO MATER HOW MANY GAMES THEY LOSE. THOSE FANS ARE LOYAL AND REAL. AND I AM ONE OF THOSE FANS B/C I AM AN ALUMNI OF UAPB AND I LOVE MY BLACK AND GOLD LIONS!!!!!!
