Yes, the SWAC is run sooo raggedy. ADs make decisions and then Presidents come back and make totally different decisions that become the final decisions. Why are the ADs hired if the Presidents are going to make the decisions? If the SWAC wants the Presidents' input, why aren't they in the same meetings as the ADs and coaches?
It?s like the football deal of playing everybody during the season; you go undefeated and you still have to beat somebody who didn't go undefeated (since you beat them) in the championship. Why, because the SWAC can't work with ADs to ensure everyone plays everyone within the season's timeframe.
Its like a few years ago when some SWAC baseball teams didn't get all of their baseball games in due to rain-outs and you had a couple of teams trying to hold out and not play them in make-ups, because if SU didn't get the games in they wouldn't qualify for the tournament. Fortunately, one of them gave in when they won another game and realized that they would be in the tournament, which gave SU enough games to also make the tournament. I'm like, what kind of bush crap is this and just how irrelevant does the conference look when this type of junk happens over and over.
Between the weak conference leadership and the clickish presidential interference in athletic matters, this conference continues to go nowhere very fast.
Because of this lack of leadership, there is so much money out there in this world that isn't finding its way to the SWAC and its schools through sponsorships, broadcasting rights, quality media coverage, etc... Some SWAC schools are making quality advancements in the hiring of their ADs. So, perhaps, that will continue with other schools and eventually that will mean that the SWAC office's leadership will become more solid.
Again, thanks for the clarification. Though I obliviously don't agree and only adds to past shortfalls, I'd rather know the reasoning than not to know. In all your getting, get understanding. Thanks!
TxSU seems to be breezing through one bracket and SU and PV seem to be heading to another collision to decide who is coming from that bracket. I expected Alcorn to push PV a lot more. Early in the game with a 1-0 lead, they had a chance to put some distance between them by scoring 1 to 4 more runs and got nothing. As a good team will do, PV made them pay and flipped the script. In the battle of the Tigers tomorrow, it truly can go either way if JSU can get their runners on base. It helps TxSU to have only played 2 games (10-9:W & 13-3:W) verses JSU's three good battle (10-9:L, 7-4:W & 6-4:W). Mystery: How does GSU allow Valley to beat them on day one, especially so handily (12-2)? Wow! That hurt them.
SWAC: My baseball suggestion - Go back to a 6 team tournament and do it with all teams playing each other during the regular season and take the best 6 records, period. Then, in the tournament, go to a true double-elimination where you start with seeds, winners play winners, losers play losers, top seeds represent the home team every game until one team has the tournament championship.
Peace...
