SWAC Band Directors need to learn the rules of when to play

Every single game, refs have to tell bands when to stop playing. How long is it going to take them to start adhering to the damn rules? I know HBCU bands are important, but somebodys is going to eventually screw their own team via a penalty.

I feel like they are a little to harsh during the kickoff after a touch down.... it's not bothering anyone and it keeps the team hype but stopping it during a kick off feels like it just breaks momentum ....I have never seen the swac refs stop the game during a kickoff until yesterday at the SU/PV game......maybe it's just me

Yeah that crap is crazy, ain't no audibles being made and no other verbal calls that need to be heard. They been doing that at all of our games lately.

I agree, yesterday was the first time they ever said anything at a jsu game about the kickoff. NEVER have they told bands to stop playing at that point in time. This rule is BS when over at lsu them mfs measuring earthquakes and shit when it comes to noise. The swac needs to change that rule

They've never done that before, even at the FBS games we've played at. The SEC and Big Ten bands be playing all between plays and after touchdowns and during kickoffs with no problem. I mean if you can't play during kick-offs, when are the bands going to play?

The kickoff thing is likely a directive from the coordinator of officials from the SWAC. If he made the call it is likely due to complaints from coaches.

That's what I told somebody yesterday when they mentioned this. I have heard it once this season, but apparently it is becoming more widespread....or it may all be happening with the same 1 or 2 crews. Either way, although the rule does technically prevent it, I think it's pretty petty.

Man i was so surprised when they told the boom to stop playing(during a kickoff). I was like, when they start this junk? It's crazy!

I believe I saw the kickoff mess multiple times this season. The real trip is that they don't apply it evenly. They called it once at the PV-SU game and then I think a second time but literally tried to call it and then waited for the band to finish playing (holding up the game by the way) to say something about it. They then failed to call it on any other kickoff where one of the bands was playing.

I checked into it and asked some questions. Don't know how true it is but I'm told a few coaches complained. We gotta realize some of these new coaches have no idea about BCF. They come from PWC's....... You've all ready seen one SEC coach not shake hands because his team lost. Just saying...... So you think he likes bands?

They didn't call it at all. They just asked the band to stop

This is a pussy ass conference who loves to blame the bands for poor performance on the field. The bands can be quiet as a church mouse and you still won't stop the teams for messing up. FBS schools make noise when the opponent has the ball and thy are still able to get the plays off. Yet the SWAC complains when a drummer is tapping a cadence off in an empty stadium. UAPB football team blamed the band for getting 70 hung up their asses. This conference will use any excuses to cover up piss poor play smh

SMH. The fans can make all the noise they want with their voices and hands. The bands fall under NCAA rules. The FBS bands follow this, why can't ALL of the SWAC bands?
