SDSU kicker hits for 6 FGs in win

BROOKINGS - It took freshman Parker Douglass three games to shatter a South Dakota State kicking record that even Adam Vinatieri couldn't touch.

Douglass kicked six field goals Saturday night, breaking a 23-year-old record for most in a game, as the Jackrabbits dusted . . . visitor Western Oregon 38-3. . . .

"I was really lucky to be able to get the job done for the most part and do whatever I can for the team," said Douglass, who turned down a preferred walk-on offer from Nebraska for a chance to kick this year at SDSU. "I'm glad to be up here and get that many chances."

Douglass' chorus-line kind of night overshadowed a punishing effort by the Jacks' defense. The Wolves (0-3) managed just 90 yards of total offense, including an SDSU defensive record of minus-42 yards of rushing allowed. The Jackrabbits (2-1) also forced 11 punts and two fumbles. . . .

Common now, you could have gave Texas Southern a little bit better score.
