Name your 2006 SWAC O & D Football Player of the Year

I have to go with Tolbert for offensive player of the year, but I am also not sold on Landers. I saw him play two years ago and he played well at times but he is no Bruce Eugene. But Landers should do well enough for Tolbert to put up good numbers.
I really don't know enough about the defensive players to make a selection.

So why did he lose to the dude from Valley last year? He does not deserve it.
The SWAC is going to look at one thing and that is tackles... They didnt take to account that (#1) AAMU's defense had more 3 and outs than any team in the conference)...

(#2)

His numbers are even more impressive when you factor in that the Bulldog offense last year averaged five minutes more possession time than its opponents, and the A&M defense faced only 751 plays from scrimmage for the 12-game season. That is an average of just 62.6 plays on defense per game.

His tackle numbers arent as high as Knights because our offense kept the ball on the field most of the game.... and our defense wasnt on the field nearly as much as Valleys was.

Offensive - Tolbert
Defensive - Baldwin or Knight

Landers needs to improve even though he had a lot of dropped balls when he played. Hopefully, a year of watching how the offense should run will do him some good.

I have to agree....His receivers were KILLING GSU that year.... they dropped like 3 SURE wide open touchdowns against us.... Landers delivered the ball perfectly, but his receivers were dropping wide open passes... I dont know if they aint like him or what, but the same receivers were catching everything this past year with Bruce.

isn't it a linebacker's job to tackle???? duh!!!!!! This man not only led the conference in tackles, but he had 9 sacks also. Add that with the tackles for losses and everything else, why wouldn't he be the pick???

"Valley players do suck, generally. Did Knight play against me last year."

lol

Baldwin led the #1 defensive unit in the SWAC, and tops in the NATION. Most teams went 3-n-out against us the majority of the game. The performance of one's defense should also count for something. Also he had 40+ more tackles than our 2nd leading tackler. That man flies around the field.

DGTM, Johnny Baldwin has better OVERALL stats than Knight.

So you are saying he is not good because his receivers, in your opinion, quit on him?

He threw for 2500 yrds in 9 games. 11 games would have had him at 3000 easy.

I'm saying I didn't see any Grade A talent or spectacular play in the 3 games I evaluated. IN ADDITION TO THIS FACT, his recieves whom he practices with daily and goes to war with weekly OBVIOUSLY HAD no confidence in him either.

Somebody else that's been drinking the kool-aid a little too long. Dude when I saw Landers play year before last in Itta Bena he looked terribe, the only thing they let him do was hand the ball off, and throw occasionally. He almost looked like that cat AAMU used to have, that Keith boy.

Did you see Landers walk off the field a winner?

post both of their tackles, sacks, and tackles for losses and we will see who has the better stats. It is an individual award not a team award.

you aint read nothing that I posted... when you got a defense who leads the league in 3 and outs... of course a team whos defense is on the field more is going to have more tackles than a team who gets alot of 3 and outs. Im sure your entire team has more tackles than AAMU's because they were on the field longer.

DGTM, SU's secondary last year had the most tackles out of DBs. Why? Not because they were good. I remember one dude from SU got burned all night long, and ended up getting Defensive POTW honors for his ??performance??. He had like 15 tackles. lol

But what you all are failing to realize is that he made all of those tackles and sacks for the 3RD RANKED DEFENSE in the SWAC. You act like he was just out there getting garbage tackles for a defense who was dead last in the conference, so what both of ya'll are posting is void and invalid.

You have to take that DB situation up with the SWAC, but that has no coorrelation with Knight winning DPoTY. If Baldwin feels he is wronged, then just go out this year and make even more big plays and hopefully he'll be rewarded.

You STILL fail to understand what I am trying to say.. You CANT make tackles when you are not on the field. We have a run offense which KILLS the rest of the SWAC in time of possession... also we have the #1 defense in the SWAC which has alot of downs 3 and out. He can only get credit for what he does WHILE he is on the field. Trust me Valley defense was on the field WAY more than AAMU's was. Johnny had 40 more tackles than anyone else on the #1 ranked defensive team.

it ain't our fault that can't nobody else on AAMU team tackle

SWAC number 1 defense....enough said

this is why your defense is on the field more than AAMU's..
