Name your 2006 SWAC O & D Football Player of the Year

That's really what i'm not understanding. Here you have a cat in Aries Nelson that has been in the same offense for two years. (PLAYING) He still has his full complement of receivers and gets his top running back healthy this year. Why wouldn't he be the choice.

1. Henry Tolbert---GSU everybody knows he's talented, but is he gonna even get the ball enough to do something with it??? (i.e. look at Landers completion pct. when he played)

2. Brandon Landers---GSU so u people think that he is just gonna step right in and win SWAC Player of the year after sitting one year out???? Once again look at his accuracy when he did play.

I would more so go along with Spiller, McCoy, Hughes, Timmons, or Lewis (because you know he is gonna put up numbers in SU's offense because he's comfortable in it)

This is all so true, McCoy had over 1000 rushing yards last year, and he should be running with more of a healthy line and a line that has a year under their belt. They were young last year they will be even better this year, and Hughes and Spiller compensate each other and between the three they make it very hard on the defense.

I am not going to say that Landers will be POTY, but uhhhh...be honest with me for a minute. Have you ever seen Landers play?

I have.

Q: Are we picking PRE-SEASON here, because anything other than that would be too premature.

Cocaine is one helluva drug. Landers over Nelson and JC?

:shame:

Yes over JC. I saw the cat play 3 times last year. Wasn't impressed at all. Recievers have no confidence he can get them the ball. Cuttting off routes, not sprinting on deep routes (Alcorn game in particular in BR at that). They just seemed to quit on him last year. I haven't been impressed with the guy at all. And this year you guys have less coming back from a sub-500 team. JC..... NO WAY man.

Nelson. . . Nelson who ? . . . .. . . . . . . Exactly my point !

MVP O...........JC Lewis
MVP D...........Jamaul George

Coach of the Year...........The Dean Pete Richardson
SWAC Champions............Southern University Football Jaguars
Prognosticator of the Year...........JROCK ( A SUperior Product)
Game of the Year......................The Foe that Southern Plays any given week.

( "The truth? You can't handle the truth!" ) :emlaugh:

Yep. Preseason can mean look at what the player brings in, what he has around him to use, what kind of impact he has made and what he is able to make, and the likelihood of him being picked over others (two top picks on one team can cancel each other out, etc.). IMO, RBs/QBs usually win on offense because they have the ball in their hands to make plays and LBs/DBs usually win on defense because they make the majority of tackles and breakups for example.

Offensive... "somebody's qb"

Defensive....

Johnny Baldwin

He compiled 103 total tackles, with 46 solo takedowns. He also notched nine tackles-for-loss, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, two passes defended, one interception, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in a season where he took on more than one blocker on most plays. His numbers are even more impressive when you factor in that the Bulldog offense last year averaged five minutes more possession time than its opponents, and the A&M defense faced only 751 plays from scrimmage for the 12-game season. That is an average of just 62.6 plays on defense per game.

So you are saying he is not good because his receivers, in your opinion, quit on him?

He threw for 2500 yrds in 9 games. 11 games would have had him at 3000 easy.

He aint really show me nothing in BR.... but I guess he can blame his O line...

he was 17 for 28 for 157 yards and 1 interception, rushed 12 times for -23 yards

made Kelcey Luke look like a champ where he was 12-16 for 170 yards and no interceptions and had 53 yards rushing.

You gave the reason already. You can't show much when you are on your back or running for your life.

Post Nelson's Numbers last year____________________________

Post JC's Numbers last year________________________________

Post Landers numbers last year_____________________________ (my point exactly)

Tolbert wont have a great season simply because he doesnt have anyone to get the ball to him.

For the life of me, GR does not understand why you people keep throwing Landers up. JC Lewis is better than Landers, and you know how GR feels about JC.

Preseason POY Offense- Spiller
Defense- Baldwin

^ J.C don't like your azz either! :smh: :smh: He!! Landers didn't even play last year and he was way better then Steve Haren!

You all have a serious lack of understanding.

From what I am reading, Tolbert should be pre-season Offensive player of the year and Knight should be pre-season defensive player of the year.

Offence POY = H.Tolbert or C. Spiller (both are AMAZING) Tolbert is more of a Gazelle that just runs away from you while Spiller is a BIG TARGET that can play the SE-TE-KR position very well.

Defense POY = Johnny Baldwin Lb AAMU Versatile BIG HITTER with Excellent Speed that can play Inside or Outside. Can cover the pass and defends' the run quite well. Another SACK MASTER EXtrodinaire. PROS are looking at him as a speed rusher on the order of Robert Mathis.

Somebody else that's been drinking the kool-aid a little too long. Dude when I saw Landers play year before last in Itta Bena he looked terribe, the only thing they let him do was hand the ball off, and throw occasionally. He almost looked like that cat AAMU used to have, that Keith boy.

Trigger man...you wont get much reality on these boards man. Most of this stuff should be on the smack board.

So why did he lose to the dude from Valley last year? He does not deserve it.
