Johnnie Cole Hired As Texas Southern's Football Coach

The biggest imediaiate challege (to me) for both TSU and PV is the stadiums in which they play their home games. I know money for the progams will always be a concern as it is for all HBCU programs.

I credit those students who are playing at TSU and PV now, but if I am a high school football player being recruited by either school and am visiting the campus for the first time...those staduims are killers.

I know it is not an easy fix. TSU has had problems trying to work out deals with Rice and UH. But even if it means working out a deal with one of the area school districts to use their facilities I say you have to do it until something better comes along.

I mean this respecfully. It is not an attempt to smack.

Point well taken and believe me, it's being addressed. Slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwly but surely. lol

I think first up for us is our weightroom/training area facility. (immediate short-term) Now, our football stadium? Well.... lol You'll hear 15 differing things if you talk to 15 differing alums. lol Our understanding is not consistent. :(

And none of your insightful comments are taken as such as you are completely dead on target.

Plans for a new fieldhouse are in the works as we speak as well as two CRUCIAL stadium options. Things are looking up for Texas Southern.

How long has all of this been in place? I'm asking because excitement, big plans and ideas will often accompany the hiring of a new coach. However putting them into place takes time. One advantage Comegy had was that the groundwork had been laid for him by the previous administration in terms of facilites. I hope that's the case at TxSou.

I prefer to see backhoes then it's a reality....however, you got to dream first but don't put the cart before the horse because we all know too much hype and no progress equals closed wallets and no optimism

I'm working on this project!:swink:

GR, don't leave PV out of the equasion, their coach has shown he has them headed in a winning direction. Also, he has shown the ability to recruit good talent. We at TSU are just getting some air in our lungs for the first time in a long time about football. I will say this, the road to SCG will have some tuff roads to travel through the greater Houston area

GR didnt forget PV....PV does not impress me with their talent and their success looks like a one year deal. Frazier is a good coach (coach of the year in the SWAC) but PV is still PV. They have no talent and will return to their normalcy next year when they have to go on the road.

With the Cole brothers coming to town, the bullcrap is about to stop starting next year.

You wish!! If you only knew!!

GR does know thinker

Frazier did an excellent job coaching this year. but he did it with smoke and mirrors which makes the job he did even better. PV has 2 good players...#7 and #11. The rest of your players are typical PV players.

Frazier has a few things going for him that other SWAC coaches dont:

He plays a real nice zone defense
He doesnt mind punting
and he is patient.

Great job this year....easily the coach of the year. Might be the best coaching job in the country.

How great would be for Frazier to win national coaching awards and not be acknowledged by his own conference? It wont be the first time the SWAC office is shown up for the idiots they are.

Thats because they are too lazy too vote for one and just give it to whomever wins the conferance title. That doesn't give credance to the one that did the best job for his team.

Its going to be tuff to recruit against our 15 million dollar facilities. January is going to be real special.

Yeah and National Signing Day is in March I think. Check out the article on theadvocate about the recruiting situation. It was nice and oh BTW Congrats TSU.

Are we sure Texas Southern hired a new football coach?

Not seeing anything on the official Texas Southern athletics web site...

Only seeing it out in the press...

Regardless, great hire Texas Southern. Hopefully, your squad will play some better football and possibly make the turnaround that PVA&M has made, possibly a commitment to football and maybe, even share a stadium with the Dynamo...

Why try to hide your hate, don't try to slide that little Dynamo comment in. Come on in her and say what you really mean. Talke about how your school playes a better brand of football, how many games they are winning, and what really makes you mad is how nobody cares. TSU has been loosing in the worst way and still gets more print than your winning school. If you ever really want to know why no one cares, check out the history of your schools name sake. Your school needs to do something with the Dynamo more than TSU does, it may help you get a fan base.

Now run tell that!!!! I can't stand under cover haters, they are like white people that act like they like you, but throw away a pen if a person of color uses it.
