I don't think anyone is calling all of these SWAC non conference wins upsets. People are just excited to see the SWAC taking a step up talent, coaching and recruiting. In this era, the SWAC Championship beating the 7th place Sun Belt team is good news.

Technically, the "Lower Major" SWAC beating any major (ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC) and mid major plus (AAC, A-10, C-USA, MWC, WCC) program is considered an upset. Small upsets are bigger than others, but thats the game.

A SWAC win over a mid major (America East, CAA, Horizon, Metro, MAC, Mizzou Valley, Sun Belt) could be an upset depending on the team. Grambling beating Ball State would be an upset, but Texas Southern beating Ball State would be a notable win.

This is turning into a great year for SWAC basketball, good wins AAMU and SU, I literally had to take a deep breathe before typing those 2 letters, and Grambling has some size and scoring waiting to clear at the end of the semester and our leading PG is injured and should be back in the next 2-3 weeks. Walker is doing a great job at Grambling.
