Changes Coming To SWAC Schedule

Good question.

It just amazes me how the "haves" and the "have nots" view this situation so differently.

Because the "haves" have alway's looked for way's to IMPROVE their overall product and the so-called "have-not's" want's the status quo........................Someone else doing the work of keeping their programs alive.:what:

That 9 game mandate can't end fast enough.

You whined PERIOD, and that was the point that several folks made on this forum. This new mandate will not ease the pain upon our eardrums of excuse makers and whiners when their teams don't make it. Even YOU should be able to understand that.

Why would JSU have to complain when we are going to Bham or the playoffs every year??

I think you "haves" have been told a million times...it was YOU who was pushing that damned mandate in the first place.

Delusions of grandeur...boy I tell 'ya! :smh:

Granted... The point of any team being willing to move any game is that more money would be made by playing the classis style game than the home team would have made playing a home game.

By organizing the games as busines units, the business units are responsible for maximizing the amount of money that can be generated by the activity, and paying the schools an amount of money that would justify playing in the game. Any excess money (money left after paying the two schools) will go into a pot to be divided amoung the schools at the end of the year.

We would need to organize a number of these type games to significantly augment conference and school revenues.

This could work but the schools, not just the AD's, are not willing to take the risk. Also, as most have said, JSU and SU are normally unwilling to move home games so it would take good management for this to happen. I guess all we need is ONE BCF AD to step up and see if others will follow.

yeah, but our push was not because we needed other schools to fill our seats. That is what 6 of you needed. JSU, Alcorn, GSU, and SU didn't want the mandate for those reasons. There were different things going on that made us want the mandate.

Because the have not's cried like babies because some of them was not getting the BIG GAMES on their schedule.

Now people gotta put work into their OWN programs.
Create a fan base that want's to see YOUR TEAM instead of the OTHER TEAM. :)

All this "we can't do it" gotta stop or else move down or out for this conference sake.
We have damm near been reduced to "homecomming opponent" status in 1-AA..
Yep...................I said it. :goof:

Well now it the "haves" who are/have been pusing to get rid of it...and now you have a problem with it being gone. Amazing.

Some of the "haves" couldn't win the games on their schedule, so they cried like banshees when their team was wrapping Christmas presents on the same day as the SCG.

And what is the excuse for those who were in it just a year ago.

Imbecile,

I didn't say I had a problem with it. Rather, I said that some of you act as if this is the best thing since air travel, when we all know that some will continue to whine and cry regardless.

I know you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, Sog, but I know you are smarter than this. This whole Jones thing is really getting to you. Why don't you take an asprin, get you a cold compress for your head and go somewhere and lie down. You are overcome with anxiety.

ROTF!!!!!

Dude, how did AJ get in this? :lmao:

Some teams can put butts in the seats at home, so why should they move their home game.

The idea is to identify opportunities that allow schools to make significantly more money off the games than the schools would make on some home game.

Remember, some home game may be so profitable that it would not make sense to move it to a classic style game in a neutral game. For example, if SU-Jackson State draws 50,000 (as it is alleged) at the home and home game there would be no need to move that game to say, a game in Cleveland, Ohio. However, if we could create a classis style game there and build it up to a base of 50,000, it would make sense for us to move a AAMU- PV there to obtain more money than we could make on a home game, and hopefully generate addition money that could be shared with other conference teams.

The 7-game format is a selfish approach to our conference problems. It does not allow us to take maximum advantage of our best assets: games that could be organized as profit centers that could benefit all conference teams.

I am still not for playing teams that are not on your rotation BUT as a JSU fan, I can't complain becasue it is designed for JSU-Alcorn-SU-Grambling.

Now, let's see if we can get SU to play us and Alcorn when we rotate off. I think GSU-JSU-Alcorn are all for keeping the games going.

Also, someone said that JSU complained the last time we had the 7 game format. Yeah, we did. Hughes was fired because of the 7 -game format. However, he knew which games he had to win and he did not win them. If the 9-game mandate was always in place, this is how the SCG (EAST rep) would have looked.

1999 Jackson State
2000 Jackson State
2001 Alabama State
2002 Jackson State
2003 Alabama State
2004 Alabama State
2005 Alabama A&M
2006 Alabama A&M

Also, had Hughes gone to Bham in 3 of his 4 years, he may not have been fired and JSU may have never had 3 back to back losing seasons which could have meant that we could have gone back to Bham from 2003 to 2006 at some point.

I'd say that about sums up the 'Rose Colored Glasses' world that SOME people on this board live in.

TRANSLATED............"if you can buy them for what they are worth and sell them for what they think they are worth...............one could retire the National Debt of a small country".

I already told you.. First of ALL, it was NOT our AD's who pushed this. Somehow, it went directly from the coaches to the Presidents. Now, the coaches present to the AD's and the AD's make recommendations to the Presidents. But I have told you that Hughes wanted the mandate because he was trying to save his job. He knew he could beat AAMU but you guys kept going to Bham instead of him. We had great schedules back then. Under he 7-game format,we were playing 1-A schools, MEAC Champs, etc... we didn't need any schools to come to Jackson and fill our seats. We averaged 27,000 a game the last year of the 7-game format....:lmao:

How long would you think it would take for these games to be able to:

1). Be profitable
2.) Draw that many people
3.) Have a payout that influences an SU or JSU or even Alcorn to move a game?

3.) Have a payout that influences an SU or JSU or even Alcorn to move a game?

Maybe the rest of THEM should try this. They have nothing to lose. That is the only way most of them will get to see another city anyway. They will not even get classic invites now that JSU, Grambling and Southern have dates to fill.
