The $5 million a year head coach had to apologize to the entire team to stop a player revolt after his best player threatened to disassociate himself from the program.
The players didn't lose any leverage, here.
Athletes all over the country -- pro and college -- are not only understanding the power they possess but are wielding it.
Do you think if he didn't apologize, that video would have been made?
The president and the AD were forced to make statements yesterday in reaction to everything that went down. It's the second time this offseason the school has had to PR-it-up after a Gundy public blunder. In April, he called the coronavirus the "Chinese virus" during a press conference and said COVID-19 wouldn't be a big deal for his players because they're young.
He had to smooth it over yesterday.

So what was gained? What concessions were made here? All Gundy said was that there are differing opinions, and that they would address them. That's not an apology, that is acknowledging that you disagree. Privately, he may have apologized, but publically the only one in that video who is remorseful is the player.
Has Gundy evolved like Drew Brees did on the kneeling protests? Gundy say "BLACK LIVES MATTER" or that he's committed to changing systemic racism?
Hubbard only said he shouldn't have gone on Twitter. He didn't back down what he said, though.

Look at the expression on his face. You can tell something else went down. I wonder how much under the table money to other players was threatened to him if he didn't back down. He had to take one for his black teammates losing out.

I stated it happens every once in a while.... Take out Ramsay and Vigor and when is the last time a inner city school won a large school championship in Alabama? Ramsay is "different" they recruit athletes from everywhere legally ( Birminghams magnet school). The excel in most sports.

He is obviously a tRump supporter. President Tweety has emboldened people like Gundy who get their news from right-wing sites like Turning Point USA and QAN. I’m willing to bet he has a MAGA hat too.

Most of those players know they're in too deep. Those boosters probably have all kinds of dirt on them. They don't want that Zion treatment during the middle of their college career.
