Best Stadiums in the SWAC

lol Right. They just flapping their gums w/ hott air like their ancestry w/ hopes of being freed from THEE. smh
What does ancestry have to do with any of this?
I'll take a 60,000 stadium....for FREE....with FREE upkeep, with free use of ALL funds and revenue for JSU only versus an 80 game losing streak and a 16,000 seat high sch....I mean stadium.
That's what flapping our gums got us.

LOL@"what does ancestry have..." Plenty. :D

Enjoy that on campus "FREE" stadium. Nothing like it. *thumbs up!* ~15K is typical stadium size ON THEIR RESPECTIVE CAMPUSES :D for Texas D-I FCS schools. Which part of that are you having a problem w/? :D :D :D :D :D Do they not teach English for comprehension over there? lol

You get what you pay for. All of this "Free" this and that and y'all are still going broke. Anyway, I would trade nothing on PV's campus for anything on (or for that matter, off) of JSU's.

With that said, I would rank the top SWAC stadiums as:

1. Bama State
2. PV
3. BBVA
4. Mumford

I remember when Grambling wore every color under the sun. They kicked azz in every color they wore. No one said anything abt the colors they wore, because it might have caused them to score even more points.

The SWAC will learn to respect the Orange.

Orange will become our War Eagle.

I was with you up until the "War Eagle" part. LOL!!!!

:D lol Not the war eagle?! lol

This is what we do in Texas, for phase I, and it meets our standard size of D-I FCS stadiums in the state of Texas. :) What do you all do over there for phase I construction? I hear the city of San Antonio is selling its domed stadium. Perhaps you all can stop wasting $$$$$$$ in higher education and afford one. :D l...o....l.... I heard about those casinos y'all have over there. Apparently it's something modern going on over there. I guess. :D

The acoustics were awful in that dome and visually it was hard see the action on the field.

1) PVAMU - Newest stadium of the bunch. I love the modern stadium but hated their concession stands and bathrooms were a nightmare!!!
2) Bama State - Very modern stadium and love the layout.
3) Texas Southern - Very modern stadium, concession stands and bathrooms are the best in the SWAC, and seats are very comfortable. Orange is my favorite color as well so that's a win for me.
----- Those that need to step it up to be on the top tier level -------------
4) Southern - Solid stadium and fits the fanbase.
5) UAPB - Solid stadium and fits the fanbase.
6) AAMU - Solid stadium but it's too big for their fanbase.
7) Jackson State - Too big and just outdated.
8) Grambling - Outdated even with the few new upgrades
9) Alcorn - Outdated but the right size
10) MVSU - Just not impressed at all but not totally bad.

Just because a stadium is new does not mean it is automatically among the best stadiums. If "new" means "best" then every school in the SEC and other major conferences would build new stadiums all the time. Instead, what they do is modernize and expand and improve their old stadiums. Admittedly, SWAC schools don't have the resources to modernize and improve to the extent of SEC schools, but those old structures, if maintained well, are way more durable and lasting than some of those new shiny facilities that are not built nearly as well. I would prefer a concrete, well-built monstrosity like Mumford than a shiny, new, cheaply-built, metal fabricated facility.with lesser, compromised endurance.

Right, but PVAMU stadium is very nice aesthetically. But actually I still prefer our stadium due to the comfortable seating, amenities, and great restaurants close by (I don't tailgate).

It's new day engineering economics, where stuff is built with a 25 to 30 year life cycle and replaced at the end of the life cycle. And you know how some of us don't like to keep good maintenance records. So after 15 to 20 years and zero to no maintenance, that life cycle is drastically reduced. I would have loved to seen what that domed stadium would have looked like after 10 years. I'm sure the State government wasn't going to pay for maintenance upkeep. And the fatigue factor for metal structures exposed to the elements is at a higher rate than most concrete structures exposed to the same elements.

Also, concrete has a life cycle too, but back then when they built SU's stadium, they probably built it with concrete with a 150 to 200 years life cycle like the Hoover Dam. At that time, engineers had little data to tell them how long concrete could last, so most concrete structures were way over designed. One can see that with the structural support of the Pineville Expressway in my hometown (Alexandria, LA). They replaced the old lift style bridge with two high span bridges in order for barge traffic to pass under them without having to open the bridge. One of the new bridges is actually supported by the old bridge's support columns. I'm sure engineers determined that the support columns for the old bridge had more life cycle years left in it than the new bridge that was replacing it. It looks kind of funny for two identical bridges up top, but down below one is supported by massive concrete footings and the other one is supported by much smaller concrete footings.

Dude, how much in one post can you contradict yourself? Right now, JSU needs no dome because we have the most durable and lasting stadium in the SWAC. I'd bet money that Memorial stadium is far more durable and lasting than ANY stadium in the SWAC. I think you already know this, that's why you didn't mention it. Sometimes folks post without thinking.

Yall will say anything to convince yourself you dont need that dome after years of bragging about it. Finally came to the realization that they aren't letting yall get it, huh?

The fans didn't concoct this "dome idea", the former administration did.
Many said that we weren't in desperate need of a dome because the weather in Jackson during football season is excellent for the most part, and we'd miss that outside football environment. You don't see folks complaining that we DON'T have a dome do you?
As long as we have an excellent football environment for JSU fans and even visitors, nobody's crying. It's you guys who keep bringing it up.
Last I recall, JSU's football attendance is still EASILY the highest in the SWAC, even though the football team hasn't been competitive over the last three years. More proof that we're not in desperate need of nothing but a competitive football team.
Now THAT'S what we've been complaining about.

Shiiiiiddddd, when the Gov of The Great State of MS and Ole Piss cash in on their property in a few years you mofos will be looking mighty damn terrible. Keep on thinking them folks gonna give yall more time. Then they only gonna give you a piece of the money you need to build one up to the standards JSU wants.

Whatever you say. We GOT this.
