And do you know that SU is taking less money to be pimped in that game than GSU did?

More 1AA schools will get a opportunity to play these 1A schools because it is becoming harder for them to find that 12th game and they want these games to get all of their players game time.

Great Job Bama St. That's what real AD's do. They find a way to make their budget grow.

Like I said, SU doesn't have to play this game. It doesn't matter how much they pay, because we can make it at home, and ya'll should try and schedule folks like this because ya'll can't make 225,000 every 2 years. :rolleyes:

so let me see If I understand your point. your ok with the basketball team getting pimped 10 times for money games, but your upset that the football team might have to do it once?

you might be right, that they shouldn't be out there pimping themselves. I'm just trying to clarify what your point is. the other problem that exist here is they need to pimp themselves b/c no one at bama state (or at alcorn) has the right to ask questions b/c they don't give any money. who's got that quote from josh moon?!! it applies to almost all our programs. better for the football team to take one for the home team than the basketball team to take 10 for the home team imho.

We gotta find other ways to make money now cause them folks from the state or different companies that donate is not going to give it to us..
Plus the basketball teams are getting pimped cause they even barely see the money they've earn for the univ. by playing those games early in the season.

I think basketball teams have more of a chance, especially when it comes to mid-majors. When it comes to a HBCU playing a 1-A, we rarely can legitimately can within 3-4 TD's without them putting their third string in.

from what I understand we are playing Houston in 07...3 years in a row an HBCU? That's good they are giving 3 different teams a shot

Personally, I don't see nothing wrong with it. It is really no different from mid-majors playing BCS type teams. You have to start somewhere. We are not going to build our budgets playing against each other (classic or no classic). I don't think there has been ANY classic that has experience a huge increase in ticket sales so we pretty much know how much we are going to get from those games. Yeah, we might get our behinds whooped, but the increase in budget could only help us all build our programs to another level. If we are making sooo much money playing against each other, why is our conference and reputation as a whole static.

I would to see us beat the Georgia Southerns, Troys, Nicholas States, on a constitent basis.

I agree. That's why I don't mind our schools taking one football payday to eliminate the money games in basketball. You're worried about our teams getting embrassed in football and I can understand that. But why take eight or nine embrassing losses in basketball to save face in football where we don't play for the postseason anyway.

I agree...... basketball teams taking all these beatings and a large percentage of the money is going towards funding football.... Let the football team take ONE assbeatin to save the 10 assbeatings the basketball team will take.

Well I cant say I agree with it either. Not only does the team get embarassed in front of 100,000 people, but you take the risk of losing players and I dont think theres anyone that can argue that a 50-60 to nothing ass beating will do anything to help with recruiting..unless its for Penn State. I dont think its worth it personally.

I would say one should work on their own home attendance as a FIRST option as compared to being pimped into these 'warmup' games for BCS schools.

the cash was the reason SU took the offer.....since katrina the department hasn't been sound financially and the defection of coaches and employees to other programs has been one reason why...in some instances, the vacated positions haven't even been filled. Look at baseball and see who took B. Rey's spot? No one...

This will be my only concern. I wouldnt want to see one of their main starters go down with a injury. This will be like that Russian dude fighting Apollo Creed.

Then play them. Why play a team you KNOW you can't beat? It's a wasted game from ALL perspectives...well, except financial.

I understand what you guys are saying about bball but more eyes are on football AND once again, we have proven that we have a chance against the big boys in bball....way better than football. If we were 1-A, I could see it but being 1-AA playing a 1-A that is 20,000 times better than us is pointless.

The football team moreso than the basketball team funds all of the non-revenue generating sports. One football game makes more than a whole season of basketball games when you look at our poor basketball attendance.

let's be real, NONE of our schools are in a position to walk away from a 500K pay day.

as for the risk of losing players to injuries, heck, you have that risk EVERY game

But moreso playing a game like this. Ex. Take a look at their offensive line/defensive line vs ours (HBCUs). Their offensive line are guys who are big and strong. Ours are just big and out of shape.

Also, just like you see how these guys want us to play them because WE not the GaSoutherns, NW State's, Richmond's...are going to bring a crowd. 1-A HBCU's would be a 1-A mid-major or 1-A power's dream date. ..and then we would STILL get to play 8-9 HBCU's a year while possibly getting better TV, sponsorship and merchandizing deals. With almost the SAME schedule that we have now (but better/more attractive), you all are willing to take a 100-0 azz whooping but you think it is bad thing if we were 1-A to take the same azz whooping (maybe for even more than 500K) once or twice a year. :confused:
