Alabama State women coaching staff

You Bama State posters will hang on any argument to keep one of yours on top, huh? Freda is a good coach. But just like y'all talking aboug Freda taking over a dead program and bringing it to life, Taylor did the same at JSU in a helluva lot quicker time.

JSU Lady Tiger basketball was dead before Taylor got there. In her first year she lost in OT to the SU powerhouse in the semis. Last year she tied for the regular season title with your then 5th year head coach. Y'all won the tourney, but don't act like the distinction between how long Freda's been there shouldn't be made compared to Taylor. Taylor's teams have gone from upstart to best in 3 years. 3 years and two 20-win seasons.

But hey, if y'all wanna talk about titles, then Rusty and Big Shirley are the best.

And mighty hornet, if Fox leads Carolina to more seasons like the one they just had, you got to give him his credit. They were dead 2 years ago. Maybe it was a fluke. Time will tell. But trust me, JSU has been winning many games without Big Amie doing much. Bama State had to hope and pray that JSU missed all them damn free throws in the last 50 seconds to overcome a 5 point deficit to force OT, with Amie doing absolutely nothing that game. That shows that Amie ain't a one man gang. JSU has players. Taylor will continue to recruit players.

I wantes some comments on their coaching staff and this turns into a battle....oh well....at least we acknowledge women's hoops

You JSU people are full of hate or yall have some serious self-esteem problems regarding JSU. This thread was started by a 3rd party to say nice things about the Bama State women's basketball coach and damn if yall aint crying because of it or crying because nobody (but yall) are saying your coach is the best, so much so that this topic is now on page 3 and the ONLY people arguing the subject is you JSU people. What makes it worse, is I have asked a thousand times for you people to post some objective measures to show how Taylor has exceeded Freda, and not a single one of you can do it. And not ONE of you will acknowledge the tournament and the fact that JSU aint even been to the finals at all, when ASU been in the last 2 finals
That speaks volume.
rob,
As far as Bama State having to hope that JSU missed free throws, ummm, I guess it was Bama State's fault that JSU missed them and it must be Bama State's fault that Williams had 2 points.. (That is akin to how TP used to say the only way teams used to beat JSU's football team is because of JSU's turnovers)

mh,

My point was JSU has players, not just Amie. I believe you suggested that Amie was leaving. As for the tourney, I posted that Taylor's teams have lost in the semis each year thus far. Freda won her first in 6 tries. That's very impressive.

I like Taylor's start better than Fredas. They took over the same dead teams. Taylor is winning a lot sooner, because she's a better coach. Simple as that.

yeah and I guess it's equally impressive for Taylor to have the tallest player in the league and not ever make it out of the semis (a nice way of saying you didn't win but one game in the tournament). Yeah, that's the stuff of legends there. All hail her for that great accomplishment.

They took over the same dead teams.
Did you read that article that I linked. Did you see what Freda started with. Did you read how she's never had a losing season?

because she's a better coach. Simple as that. [/B]
It's real easy to say that. Too bad yall can't post any objective measures to prove it.
btw, Freda is 4-1 vs Taylor

take your usual foolishness somewhere else kid. It's obvious that you have nothing to add to this thread.

let's see...... that's about 10 different JSU people have responded on this thread.
(and they got the gall to always say that folks hate JSU)
what a joke

too bad not ONE of them can post anything objective about how Taylor has passed Freda.

MH, I thought someone did posted something. Didnt Robber post some information.

And dont you mean supportive instead of objective about how Taylor has passed Freda?

Like I said dude. Are you really this naive? Do you honestly believe half the stuff you type, or are you just bored at work?

Freda has been at ASU long enough to bring in her players and put her stamp on the program.

Taylor has only been here 3 seasons, and when she got here the program was in shambles. There were only 6 girls on the team and she got a real late start on recruiting for that first year.

And you sarcastically asked what players she has brought in.... Well try this wise guy....

She brought in Amie Williams, the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year and Preseason Player of the Year. She's a former MS Highschool Dandy Dozen (Top 12 players in the state) who signed with an SEC school out of HS and had bigger offers out of JUCO.

Shelita Burns - A former Dandy Dozen and All- Metro selection. Currently starting at PF as freshman

Lindsey Dukes - Former All-Metro selection. True Freshman playing in the short rotation.

Shante Stanford - Former All-State selection who played in MS-Alabama all-star game. Freshman starter.

Latoya Anderson - Former All-State Honorable Mention. Played in MS All-Star game. Freshman seeing time.

Dasieka Hawthorne - Former All-State Honorable Mention. Played in MS All-Star game. Transferred from Kentucky.

And next season, Taylor's bringin in this beast. ----->

Taylor has taken a program from the bottom to the top as fast as anyone could have. How much did Freda improve the overall state of the program in her first 3 seasons? Sure she should have the upper hand over Taylor to date. But this is because she was already established when Taylor arrived on campus to meet those 6 girls JSU had left over from near last place team.

Every season has gotten better and better so by year 6, she should be dominating the SWAC. The Lady Tigers are currently ahead of ASU in the standings and this is only year 3. Taylor is just getting started.

Yep, a beast on the court. This is not anyting negative toward her dude. :smh:

I've seen her play and she's got game. About 6'3 and mean. We need Amie to become a beast.

(Clean out your pm box)

Dayum y'all ninjas still arguing about this....:lmao: this so sad.....JSU folks just won't admit to anything.....you guys should would make excellent politicians or lawyers....whoops sorry Rob...:D

ummm Prodigy,
Thanks for posting those high school accolades of those players. I guess that's supposed to be impressive or something. And the picture of the volleyball player. ummmm, what exactly is that suppose to mean? Seriously!
show me some college accolades (you see, any and everybody probably got good high school stats)
Freda brought in last year's Player of the Year and conference leading scorer. She brought in this year's conference leading scorer and rebounder (mind you, we're talking about different players here)

And you people keep acting as if Freda just started winning in year 6. She didn't. She's won from the start and she didn't inherit a good program. She's simply built a great one!!!!

There were teams that we hadn't beat in eight or nine years before she got here," said Harris, who spent time at ASU in several capacities before Freeman-Jackson arrived. "For us to be where we are now is really something."

For the third consecutive season, ASU likely will go into the SWAC Tournament as the first- or second-place team and one of the favorites to win it all.

Since Freeman-Jackson's first year in 1998-99, ASU has had six consecutive winning seasons. That's a rather remarkable feat for a school that had just one winning season in the six years prior to Freeman-Jackson's arrival
digest that!!!!

and beans,
No, you're wrong. Nobody posted anything that show where Taylor has accomplished more than Freda.
Fact is, the reason nobody has posted it is because it simply doesn't wash. And no objective measure will back it up.

LMAO@the way you backed up off that one and now you're able to predict what your coach will be doing in her 6th year.

I didn't back up off anything. I'm trying to put Taylor and Freda on a level playing field by predicting her success by year 6. Of course there's no way of knowing that, but at her current rate she will have our team head and shoulders of the rest of the SWAC.

Comparing Taylor's accomplishments to Freda's right now doesn't make sense because Freda has been there long enough to have her program where she wants it. Taylor is just getting started. Who was more successful in their first 3 years? Taylor hasn't had time (yet) to garner all the accolades that Freda has. But she is on pace to do much better. As I stated, she's currently ahead of Freda.

As far as the HS stats, those girls are all fist or second year freshman. This is their first season playing at JSU and they're already starting or contributing. These are players that Taylor brought in. You saracastically asked what players she has recruited. So there you have it. Now your complaing about the HS players I posted? This is only Taylor's 3rd year. She brought in Amie during her first year. And the players that she brought in since then are the one's I've posted. They all sat out last year, so their HS numbers are what you have to look at. The fact that they are all starting or contributing already on a first place team goes to show what Taylor is doing.

As far as the volleyball thing, it's just a picture of the girl Taylor signed in the early period. She plays volleyball too. That's the first picture I found. Would you like a pic of her playing basketball. Would that make you feel any better. Would you then admit that Taylor is a great recruiter?

Impressive, but no more impressive than what Taylor is doing.

"For us to be where we are now is really something."

We can say the same. We were at the bottom of the SWAC when Taylor arrived.

For the third consecutive season, ASU likely will go into the SWAC Tournament as the first- or second-place team and one of the favorites to win it all.

Taylor will be going into the tournament in 1st for the second consecutive season, and this is only her 3rd year.... meaning she was in 1st place by year 2. Is the article implying that it took Freda up until her 4th year to get to 1st?

Since Freeman-Jackson's first year in 1998-99, ASU has had six consecutive winning seasons. That's a rather remarkable feat for a school that had just one winning season in the six years prior to Freeman-Jackson's arrival

Impressive, but Taylor has had winning seasons in her first 3 years. And she inherited a team that hadn't won prior to her arrival, just like Freda.

Now Taylor's 3 winning seasons isn't 6 like Freda, but like I keep saying... Taylor hasn't been here that long yet. That's why this comparison isn't on a level playing field. Both coaches are doing great, but Freda's headstart is why she will have more accolades than Taylor.

Dude, I know what you meant. I was making a joke about your refering to that nice girl(long hair, shaves her underarms:p ) as a beast. That's all.

so Prodigy,
I guess anytime somebody is labeled as the best coach or maybe even the best player, there should be an asterick placed beside that to account for all the coaches (and players) who are new and haven't "been there long enough to get their program where they want it".
I've never seen it done like that on any level!!!!!!!!!

LMAO@ predicting what Taylor will be doing in the future.

How self-serving and convenient is that?????

I truly wonder if you JSU people realize the straws yall are grasping to attempt to justify the unjustifiable!

bottom line, during the time that Taylor has been at JSU, Freda and ASU has accomplished more!!!!!

We have our program exactly where we want it. No asterick needed. It's ahead of where Freda had ASU's program in a similiar time frame.

Dude this is to put in perspective what Taylor has done and the direction she's head. How many times have you heard of an active pro athlete called a future hall of famer?

I'm merely pointing out what you're too naive to admit on this board. (pm me)

She'd had 3 prior years to get the program in a position to do so. Taylor is just getting started.
