We are one baseball championship behind Southern for the most in the 2000s. They have 5 (2001-2003, 2005, 2009) and only 2 since 2004. We won 4 (2004, 2008, 2015, and 2017) since 2004 which is the most since then.
Of note, Coach Moreno of TSU won the championship in 2008 as a player and 2015/2017 as a coach.

When we won it in 2004 - that was the best feeling/celebration ever! LOL

I'll go to my grave saying that season deserved an asterisk..lol
as funny as it sounds it motivated Michael Robertson and changed SWAC history forever as they increased the tournament size, implemented the rain rule and started the run of 4 straight title game appearances by PV. Thanks to a certain coach for yanking out a now broadcaster who loves facebook in place of David Arrendondo in 2005 that set the wheels in motion.
Still mad at losing 3 straight that Saturday and allowing SU to get in the tourney as they beat them 3 times that weekend and sent Cador to the bus early

In 2004, I think we swept y'all at PV towards the end of the year. I saved 3 of 4 of those games.
In 2005, our guy should've never been taken out.

TSU won the series (played a dang tripleheader, lol) but PV was the only team to play all conference games that year when SU barely had enough games to get in and TSU was short 2 games with Grambling. Remember the game at MacGregor that was made up with TSU just getting back from Pine Bluff? All of that for 1 inning, lol.

Oh yeah, I remember the one game makeup really well. That was my 3rd day in a row pitching after pitching 3 games the previous two days at Pine Bluff. My arm felt perfectly fine and I knew I'd get whoever I was facing out. We practiced a bases loaded pick off play and it would've worked if I wouldn't have lobbed the ball to 2nd (I didn't want to lose the game by throwing away a pickoff and I knew I'd get the batter out). Well, I lobbed it to second and I think I walked the next three batters. My ERA is forever scarred because of that game. I think I gave up 7 runs or something like that.
During the tourney, MVSU threw their #2 against us because they expected to beat us. Well, it didn't work out for them. Then we should've loss to SU the next game. We were losing in the 7th inning and hadn't beat SU in 4 or 5 years. Man, the baseball gods came through for us during that tourny. LOL

against, SU I looked up and saw folks I grew up with who played at TSU show up full of "spirit" at Baseball USA...SU could not take it

Yeah man, it was loud. Most of our home games were like that during the year.
