I would hope not. That means that any team can pull the same stunt in the fall for any reason and blame it on COVID while their other sports are playing. It's not Dr. McClelland that I'm worried about wanting to do the right thing but some of these do for nothing ADs that will drop the ball (and that's who he works for)

Right now, it's only Alcorn that has opted out (FAMU and BCU are not SWAC until July)

SCAREDcorn has not broken any NCAA rules. However that is beyond the point. Grambling didnt break any NCAA rules either when they didnt show up to Jackson. The NCAA didnt punish them but the conference did because it would set a bad precedent if they did nothing. The same applies here. Alcorn has the right to opt out. That is not the SWACs issue with them. Using context clues from what the SU AD said, the conference schools all had a agreement to play and had set rules in place if a school could not play due to covid. SCAREDcorn said forget the agreement and did what they wanted. If the SWAC allows this, it sets a bad precedent. If Alcorn had taken the proper steps, we wouldnt be here. At the very least, I am sure that Alcorn will have to go to Valley and Southern in Fall of 21 and Fall of 22. The next time they play AAMU, it will be twice back to back as well or they can agree to a one time, non-conference home game at AAMU.

As for any other penalties such as SCG bans (unlikely but who knows) and decrease in revenue sharing (plausible), I could see those things happening since SCAREDcorn pretty much $#@! on the whole conference.

Thanks for clearing that up, Commissioner. You are doing a good job. We just need you now to go put an application to make your appointment official because there are two of you. It'll make up for the time you wasted typing all of that nonsense...lol
 
These people are leaning on Covid but the other sports teams on campus are playing. So damn hypocritical and fake. If you so called want your athletes so safe why are any of your teams playing? This pull out is more than Covid.

I’m actually surprised the swac hasn’t come out with a statement on this yet. McClelland is usually on point when it comes to making decisions and announcements regarding the conference.

Alcorn had enough time to opt out before the schedule was made. This is poor planning on their part. They should be penalized for opting out a few weeks before the season start.
