MVSU ex coach blast valley

The Jackson folks were protesting because they were mad at Mason for proposing the idea. Since he was throwing rocks and hiding his hand.

Now you talking out the side of your neck. I was there, and alumni from JSU, valley and Alcorn were protesting together to save our schools. Yes, many people were upset with Mason but they weren't there for that alone.
Keep your nose out of grown folk business.

I would like to see Jackson State or Mississippi Valley join the Southland conference. The SWAC should not have 3 schools from the state of Mississippi.

Most of your responses (to any topic) scream "Similac"!

How can they say that when he never coached in the SEC?

These folks man... just smh

It's widely known that no Division I gave him any serious look other than Valley... not even the schools he worked at before coming to Valley with that SEC background.

I also agree with ATLBrave... like I said before, I wish no ill will towards him but I saw what he said on the news last night. Karma is real. Don't be surprised if the AD decides to schedule MSU and they lose or end up meeting them in one of those holiday tourneys...

21-12 is respectable in the SWAC and keeps you around. 21-12 ain't going to keep you around in the OVC.

How can they say that when he never coached in the SEC?

He played in the SEC
He worked in the SEC

So he does have links to the SEC. The idea is hiring a guy with SEC (or any big conference links) will get you fringe or kicked out of school players from said conference.

As for him bashing Valley-guess what he can do that because he knows the moment he wants to come back-Valley or any SWAC school will welcome him back with arms wide open. Because he would be a former NonHBCU coach in a HBCU confernece (See Bozeman in MEAC).

Ernest Wilson did the same thing when he left JSU for Hampton. Didn't agree with it then, don't agree with it now. What good does it do to diss your employer after you leave for another job? Why not show some class - thank them for the opportunity but acknowledge it was time to move on - on your way out? Put it this way, if the new job had fallen through, would he still be at Valley?

It is bad mouthing. Even if you speak the truth it's still bad mouthing when you say it at the wrong time or in the wrong context. That's like a housekeeper telling you your house smelled like isht after she finished the job. What good does that do? Everyone knows the situation of Valley and HBCUs in general. There's been plenty written and discussed about our plight. The NCAA made an official acknowledgment with the new APR standards aimed at helping HBCUs. We love using the word "reality" as if we don't get hit with that reality in some form or fashion every day of the week. There's a time to make hay and a time to show some class and move on. This was a time to show some class.

Excellent point about showing more class on the way out the door. We can't get others to show us respect and treat us with class if we can't give it in return.

I agree with this. If you didn't say it when you were wearing the green and red of Valley, why do you see a need to say it now? He could have just said "I think I can get better players with the resources I should have here at Morehead." No reason to even acknowledge Valley other than to thank them for the opportunity to get to this point.

And besides, you don't burn your bridges.....you never know when or how life is gonna hit. It would be cruel irony indeed, a warped twist of fate if he had to go back to Valley if things didn't work out.

Valley shouldnt be worried about what Sean Woods or anyone else is saying... If Im a Valley admin, Grad, student my thought is cool he is gone but lets use what he did last year as a stepping stone like Woods used Valley. Their Focus should be on improving from last years performance... and so everything possible not to hit the bottom again.

These Coaches use these positions as stepping stones, our schools should do the same in then one day, we want be stepping stone jobs. the key is crawl before you walk but when you get a new coach dont go back to crawling set yourself up to where you taking a light jogg.

honestly I dont want a coach that is cool and happy with trying to win SWAC championships and get blown out in the NCAAs, I want a coach that trying to make progress.

I dont understand why you hire and dont agree with hiring a Patt bibbs that did all those great things but not going after the Monroe, Tech, or other bigger jobs..alt to be tired of winning the SWAC and MEAC.. I question are these lifetime SWAC coaches u for the challenge of advancing our programs or are they good with being whipped by these coaches that using the SWAC as a stepping stone

Again, Woods said similar things while he was coaching at Valley. Secondly, why are folks upset about something that everyone associated with the program understands is true? No bridges burned here.

JSU weren't angry about Masons proposal, ...it was the way he did it. That behind the scenes shit and then talking about renaming JSU to Jacobs State is what we were so hot about. If he had done his dirt above ground we would've been all for it. Valley and Alcorn should merge under JSU

Most folks don't want to hear the truth but there it is.

TRUTH has been spoken...folks didnt get mad until he started this Jacob Stae Crap! Mason was a good president tho!

It doesn't make sense to merge Valley and Alcorn under JSU. The only thing we have in common is we're HBCUs in Mississippi. Totally different institutions.

Exactly...

Totally agree.

Maybe Valley and JSU folks, but Alcorn has been against merger talks long before Mason. For us, it goes back to the Walter Washington days when we spoke against us merging.

It doesn't make sense to merge Valley and Alcorn under JSU. The only thing we have in common is we're HBCUs in Mississippi. Totally different institutions.
Agree 100%. None of the schools have anything to gain by merging. That's just the arrogance of SOME JSU fans that speak as if they are doing better than the rest of us. If JSU was doing that great then Mason would have been saying - JSU will be here when the rest are gone.

If the state ever tries to merge the schools then I figure Alcorn would go under MSU and JSU under Ole Miss. And I'm not sure about VAlley - maybe DSU.

But in the words of my frat - THE GREAT DR. WALTER WASHINGTON "ALCORN WILL NEVER CLOSE NOR MERGE"

Obviously some of ya'll don't know Sean Woods. Everybody at Valley knew what the deal was, why don't you think we aren't upset about him leaving? He came in, served his contract and moved on. Nothing reported is NEW or Earth-shattering, he's been saying that stuffl At the end of the day, nobody holds a gun to our coaches heads to make them take the job. They accept it for what it is, man up, and get the job done to the best of their abilities. When they do a good job and time for advancement comes, they go, simple as that.

He probably wanted to be at Jackson State.

At least they would accept us since we won't cause them to lose their playoff bid. However, they are a lateral move for a school like JSU. JSU will only consider the OVC and the So-Con.
