MVSU ex coach blast valley

I applaud Coach Woods for telling the DAMM TRUTH about our sad azz conference but we are in the same boat as MEAC. Patroit. SoCon. Southland but the Ohio Valley Conference is ahead of the SWAC period...the headquarters are here in Nashville and the work is being put in...

The SWAC is ran like a church board!

Overall yes but they are still a one-bid league in most years. That's why I put them in the same boat as us. When they can do like the CAA, Horizon, WCC and MVC and put in multiple bids consistently then they can be put in that group.

Okay I see what u are saying now...The OVC is one of the small conference that is on the rise in basketball..

Obviously some of ya'll don't know Sean Woods. Everybody at Valley knew what the deal was, why don't you think we aren't upset about him leaving? He came in, served his contract and moved on. Nothing reported is NEW or Earth-shattering, he's been saying that stuffl At the end of the day, nobody holds a gun to our coaches heads to make them take the job. They accept it for what it is, man up, and get the job done to the best of their abilities. When they do a good job and time for advancement comes, they go, simple as that.

Ernest Wilson did the same thing when he left JSU for Hampton. Didn't agree with it then, don't agree with it now. What good does it do to diss your employer after you leave for another job? Why not show some class - thank them for the opportunity but acknowledge it was time to move on - on your way out? Put it this way, if the new job had fallen through, would he still be at Valley?

But Woods said the exact same thing while he was coaching Valley. If nobody made a big deal about it then, why are folks making a big deal out of it now?

All the stuff he said, was said way before he was leaving.......Yes if didn't get a job he would still be there.

It is not that you bad mouthing the school as much as reality of the situation. Sometimes we need to know where we "really" are if we are going to ever change our situation.

Ernest Wilson just flat out said Hampton had better facilities than Jackson State without any remorse...

Sean Woods said what he said with a CONTROLLED Tone (CONTROLLED- meaning he said what he said but didn't just flat out compare Morehead to Valley as IN-DEPTHLY as Wilson compared Hampton vs. JSU. If he wanted to really diss MVSU in-depthly, he would have).

The Difference is that Wilson just didn't give a shat what he said or what anybody said. Woods might have had those same feelings but he didn't let it be known AS OUTRIGHT.

Bottom Line: HBCU Administrators should hire individuals to serve on a YEAR-LONG Committee that is ready to find replacement Head Coaches for any sport IMMEDIATELY after one departs or is Fired.

If we have to start somewhere, START HERE!!!!!

It is bad mouthing. Even if you speak the truth it's still bad mouthing when you say it at the wrong time or in the wrong context. That's like a housekeeper telling you your house smelled like isht after she finished the job. What good does that do? Everyone knows the situation of Valley and HBCUs in general. There's been plenty written and discussed about our plight. The NCAA made an official acknowledgment with the new APR standards aimed at helping HBCUs. We love using the word "reality" as if we don't get hit with that reality in some form or fashion every day of the week. There's a time to make hay and a time to show some class and move on. This was a time to show some class.

valley will take almost any ole coach, especially if they are white or from white institution. My beef with valley is that their alumni don't fight for the cause like JSU and Alcorn. Another thing is that they hate on JSU all the time and we are the ones who fight to keep them open.

Valley got dissed by SeanWoods on the way out the door. Its too bad he took advantage of Valley like that. Dude has no class.

No young or ambitious coach is coming to any HBCU to stay.....That is partially why we keep doing the retreads for coaches.....

The retreads don't mind "status quo" and just want to keep the check coming. They will put up with whatever just to keep a check.

And with good coaches who choose to stay at a school, (such as VCU)......they can't stay at "status quo".....so the school decides to step up it's level

and change conferences.

Valley is and always will be a stepping stone job. Shoot, all the jobs at the lower Division I level (even at many high Mid-Majors and at some BCS schools) are stepping stone ones. I don't see how anyone can be offended by that reality.

Schools like Valley will either get old and desperate or young and desperate. No young coach wants to stay at a school with little to no resources of a long time. That's just the way it is.
I know the reality. Sean Woods knew what he was getting into when he took the job at Valley. Valley knew that Sean Woods had no plans to stay at Valley very long when they hired him. I do not understand why Valley does not give the young coaches of Mississippi a shot at it. I a sure they would be happy that Valley gave them a chance, thank them and move on.

End of discussion! Stop using these schools as stepping stones then talking bad about em. Karma is a mutha sucka!

I agree with this. If you didn't say it when you were wearing the green and red of Valley, why do you see a need to say it now? He could have just said "I think I can get better players with the resources I should have here at Morehead." No reason to even acknowledge Valley other than to thank them for the opportunity to get to this point.

If you don't go sit cho ass down some where with that bullshit? I could of sworn it was Mason who proposed to merge Alcorn and MVSU.

Wait a minute boy, you need to know your facts and go sit cho azz down. Jacksonians were the majority of the people who were protesting the merger and or closure of valley. Ask any valley alumnis that were at the state capital. Yes, our Gov and Mason wanted to close alcorn and valley, however, hundreds of Jacksonians aided the fight to keep valley open.

Sean Woods is a young coach.

The Jackson folks were protesting because they were mad at Mason for proposing the idea. Since he was throwing rocks and hiding his hand.

Sean Woods was a green young coach when he got hired at Valley.
