Bama calls out Boise State

Bob Stoops at OU and Ricky N. at UCLA said it makes no sense for BCS schools to go out and play a tough non-conference schedule if winning the national championship is the goal for that season.

That is the real reason some of these powers don't want to agree with a home and home with Boise on their Smurf turf. Why would Bama, Ohio State, Miami, Florida or Texas purposely schedule a non-conference Top 5 team to start the season? SEC teams rarely leave the south. You think they going to Idaho to play and risk an L?

That is why I had so much respect for USC during the Pete Carroll era. They played Ohio State, Va. Tech, Notre Dame, and Arkansas on the road early in the season. The first game of the 2003 season USC played AT No. 6 Auburn.

So this issue is not cut and dry.

Yea.. and their out of conference games were EASILY the toughest games they played since they had NO competition in the PAC-10. It's easy to play tough OOC games when you're playing the likes of Washington, Washington State, Cal, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State during the regular season. Only EVERY NOW and then is one of those teams even ranked in the top 10. And you're comparing this to playing a conference schedule in which on a regular basis you have 5+ teams in the top 15. Yea.....ok.

Exactly. It's all economics and politics.

Another dumb excuse is the whole VaTech loss to a FCS school. So what? Michigan loss to a FCS school in their home stadium and then went on to beat Florida in a BCS Bowl game. It's not about logicistics at all. Nobody wants to give Boise St the chance to beat them because it would legitimize Boise St and blow the whole BCS system wide open.

It is forgotten that Michigan defeated Florida in the Capital One Bowl, which is in the Gators' backyard. BTW it is not a BCS bowl game, but the point, an excellent one, is understood.

It will be interesting to see how Virginia Tech does this year.

......

This is a practice that the big schools have done for decades. It is not new.

1) Don't sleep on Nevada... they are now ranked for the first time in about 50-60 years  3 individuals rushed for a 1000 yards last year including the QB, who might be a datk horse Heisman candidate if they smoke everyone up until they play Boise State in November... Boise State NEEDS Nevada to shoot up the rankings to help them out...

2) I get tired of hearing people (especially Alabama fans) talk about Boise and their weak schedule... I wouldnt call putting San Jose State (bottom feeder D-I program for a while), Duke (ditto) and Georgia State (a first year football program) stacking the schedule...

3) Utah smashed Alabama in that bowl game a couple years ago so Roll Tide should be the LAST SCHOOL to talk about Boise State and them not deserving a title shot....

Well I know Ohio State has scheduled a top 5 or top 10 team every year out of conference. Texas for 2 years then USC for 2, and Miami for 2 and after the Miami contract is up, we play Oklahoma for 2 years. Everybody plays the easy win home games. The Big 10, SEC, Big 12, PAC 10. They all do it. The SEC just gets more praise because folks consider those schools conference games harder than the rest of the conferences. So they will forget about LSU playing McNeese this year.

I do not know who win between Bama and Boise. All I know is Saban took a team that have been on probation to the National Championship in 3 years. Saban is an AWESOME recruiter that has brought in some of the best talent in the Nation. It would be great to see Boise or Utah play a Saban team in his 4th year of being the Head Coach of Alabama.

9 defensive starters from the National Championship team are gone. If the defense can (secondary) continue to progress in the Saban system by game 7 without a "L"..........Look out College football.

I had two Florida vs. Alabama tickets (donated), but I refused because of AAMU's homecoming. Believe or not, I do not like to attend the Bama games, it is much better on t.v. The RV's started to rolling into Tuscaloosa on Sunday and it has not stopped. The majority of the High Schools are having Homecoming on Friday Night. Coincided with the Bama vs. Florida traffic........Tuscaloosa is about to be off the CHAIN!

PS: The 5th string running back (Fowler) from Mobile is a BEAST! Bama is loaded on offense!

SABAN's Record

2007 - 7-6

2008 - 12-2

2009 - 14-0 National Champs

2010 - Rank #1 in the Nation

Lets be clear about the Bama-Utah game. Utah beat Bama for one reason and one reason all-A dangerous azz "black" QB that could do anything and everything on the field. Utah isn't in the dayum picture anymore. This years Boise St. team ain't half as dangerous as Utah's QB a couple of years ago, if you ask me personally. Plain and simple, Utah had the QB to pull it off at that time. That schitt is over. He's gone and won't be back. Bama is playing Michigan in Dallas new stadium in 2012 and Jerry Jones intends to see all 108,000 seats filled to capacity. He will make some money on that day. Boise need to think big and come to that neutral site just like Bama and Michigan if in fact they really want to think and play big. Bama ain't thinking about some dayum Idaho potato.

Boise just played Virginia Tech in Tech's backyard on a "neutral" field four weeks ago. Pretty sure they will play anybody on a neutral field.

Bama got beat by Utah because they had still had players on their team that Urban Meyer recruited. Their QB had no arm at all, but those WRs were fast as heck and he allowed those cats to make big plays. Plus, the Utah D-Line dominated the Bama O-Line for much of the game.

Again, if that black QB wasn't out there, none of those plays wouldn't have developed. Not only was he good, he was smart. He dayum show was better than Mallet of Arkansas, because this brother didn't make to many mistakes period. He was the one that ran the offense. A smart QB with a good OC can beat anybody at anytime and can add something to it that you can't teach. (that added incentive-tangible goods) per-say. Bama State's Darnell Kennedy, GSU's Eugene and Alcorn's McNair were just a few who had those packages.

Bama's Ingram is averaging 15yds. a dayum carry even after knee surgery according to ESPN. Bama has another 3-4 running backs that will also knock your block off.

FL and AL are 60 -2 since Bama's loss to Utah. Their only losses have come against each other. They are clearly the two most dominant college football programs in the country.

CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson said he's afraid Boise State will get into the national title game over a one-loss team from a major conference. He thinks that's totally unfair.

"If I was in charge, that would not happen," he said.

Danielson even said if Boise State won the title game, that still might not prove anything. "They might have the best team," Danielson said of Boise State. "If it's a one game championship ... anybody in one game can win one game."

So even if Boise State beats Bama, it still won't change the perception.:retard:

That was the dumbest thing I ever read. The system is flawed. If the same teams go to the BCS every year then what in the hell is everyone else playing for? Yeah let's put Oklahoma or Ohio St in again and let's watch them get their heads beat in again. Why even rank Boise so high if you don't want them in the Championship?

I get so tired of this same crap year after year.:smh: The SEC has not just won championships during the BCS era, THEY HAVE DOMINATED THEIR OPPONENTS. This, is why we see so many of the SEC teams ranked so high.

Sorry ass unranked UT was beating the crap out of Oregon and who knows what would have happened if they didn't have the delay. On the other side of the coin, if VT doesn't do in the 1st half what Boise did in the second, they win going away. Then VT turns around and loses to James Madison.:smh:

Even if Boise gets to the champioship and gets destroyed, some of us are still going to find a reason to hate instead of congratulate.:smh:

Man, ain't nobody hating on Bama or no other school from the SEC if another national title comes from that league. Our issue is that it is unfair for a team like Boise State to be denied the opportunity to play for a national title even if they are undefeated.

Like I said earlier, if Bama and OSU go unbeaten, then Boise State really has no argument. You just have to tip your cap to No. 1 and No. 2 for not losing. However, to go out and say it would be unfair for an undefeated BSU to play for the national title over a one or two loss BCS school makes no sense at all. All it shows is a form of elitism that has existed in college athletics.

The system was never designed for non-BCS schools to ever have a chance of winning the national championship. It was designed to keep the money and championships inside the big six conferences.

I never heard or experienced anywhere in sports that it would be unfair for any unbeaten team to play for the championship (unless that team was involved in some type of on field or off the field cheating).

Heck, we know the SEC has been the best conference in the country. But that don't mean nobody else should be denied the chance to compete for a national title.

Look, we all know that the best soccer is not played in the U.S. The best soccer is played in South America and in Europe. Team USA did not have to beat the same caliber of teams to qualify for the World Cup that Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Germany and Argentina did. But nobody said Team USA shouldn't be in the World Cup. They earned the right to play in that tournament just like everyone else who qualified did.

Angola, Lativa, Mali and New Zealand are no where near as good in basketball as USA, Argentina, Spain or China, but nobody said it was unfair for them to be in the 2008 Olympics.

To use a better example let's say Seth Davis goes on CBS on Selection Sunday and says "Even though SWAC U. went 18-0 in league play and won the conference tournament, they don't belong in the field of 65." Look at who they played. Look at that their RPI." A bubble team from the ACC, Big East or Big Ten school should get one of those slots instead of a SWAC school in a mediocre conference.

Folks who support HBCUs in general schools would lose their minds. Heck, I would be upset.

I feel that if a team goes unbeaten, they should have an opportunity to compete for a championship if the teams ahead of them have losses.

I don't like all this BSU or TCU has to win by 50 points to get respect. If they played in SEC or Big 12 they wouldn't be as good, crap. Probably not. I don't know. But I don't think the SEC will be changing its entrance requirements to allow a non-AQ into the league.

Do you know that if the Boston Red Sox played in the AL West, they would have won the division instead of the Rangers? But ain't no national baseball analyst moaning about it, saying it's not fair that Texas gets in the playoffs and not Boston.

Shaking my head at this nonsense.

The "nonsense" is your attempt at comparisons and shame on you for that.:smh: How in the world can you place an undefeated team that plays 1 or 2 top 20 teams ahead of a one loss team that faces a top 20 team every other week? Strength of schedule has to count for something. No two things in the universe are equal and Boise's schedule sure isn't equal to Alabama, Florida, or Ohio St. Their #3 ranking is a sentimental gift.

Y'all can debate this issue forever, but the only thing that will truly settle it is a playoff system. If Boise went through it and won, nobody could say a thing. Otherwise, even with this BCS system we still got subjective opinions.

I totally agree with you, but the RICH AND GREEDY BSC SCHOOL WILL RATHER GO TO HELL THAN TO LET THAT HAPPEN!!!

Those in favor of giving teams like Boise State a chance to play for the national championship point to the success the Broncos have had against elite competition over several years. Those against giving Boise State a chance argue that there is something qualitatively different about beating all those elite teams in a single season and Boise State couldn’t pull that off.

And this leads us to ask: What if Boise State played an SEC schedule? More particularly, what if Boise State played Alabama’s schedule?

San Jose State
Penn State
Duke
Arkansas
Florida
South Carolina
Ole Miss
Tennessee
LSU
Mississippi State
Georgia State
Auburn

In Alabama’s schedule, Boise State would be favored in every game. They would have a number of tough tests which, in some simulations, they failed. On average, Boise State won 10.1 games and went undefeated in almost 10% of simulations. This would make them the second best team in the SEC behind Alabama, who won 11.2 games on average and went undefeated in about 1 of 3 simulations.
