So glad that I know what I know about the price of the arena for the tourney, that is why I know that the tickets could have been cheaper and the area would have had more people in attendance....but u all carry on....:lecture:

So how much did the arena cost?

The Southland realizes the real dollars are generated from corporate sponsorships. They are trying to put more warm bodies in the seats, there by being more attractive to sponsors. Companies are not going to advertise very long to empty seats. We as a conference to do not realize what companies are paying for when they agreed to sponsor our events.

Was the SWAC attendance that much lower (if at all) than the SLC attendance of 3,500?

The SLC attendance in 2009 was 2500. The 2010 attendance was a 1000 more than the previous year. I am not sure if that is good or bad, however it does show that it is growing. Sponsors will give you more time if attendance is growing. I think that is about a 30% increase.
