80\20 our way:noidea:, if you made a "grip" what did we make, 4 "grips"? I guess that chump change was major to you 'sippians

this is sad.:shame:
This is why people screw ya'll out of your money
.

Please come give us chump change and another 80/20 split in 2011.
Why not sign a 80/20 split through the year 2020.
I gurantee you none of us Sippians will be mad at all.
I'm begging you to do it.................PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The SAME folks on this board chanting "Pete is gone" chants are the SAME ones who said Woody wasn't going anywhere. They will be wrong twice. Pete will be back next year.

Dude, Woody's contract was up. Wasn't anything yall had to do. Yall lost no money on that deal. If Pete's contract was up this year he would be gone too. Woody was just a part of your problem. Your head coach is still there because yall can't afford to get rid of him just like the rest of us who have coaches under contract. Talk isht when yall buy somebody out. Otherwise you aint done nothing. Even Bell's contract was coming up at the end of that season when you fired him with a couple of games to go. Aint like yall dismissing coaches under contract and bringing in others. You act like yall Notre Dame coming up with big money to get rid of folks.

Dude.
We making money in Memorial starting today and we ain't even playing.
MHSAA championships start.
That's 6 State Championship games that JSU will share the profit's with mississippi DFA.
Come up with some fact's for a change.
11-0 or 0-11 we make money.

And even with a 3-7 record, we still recorded more fans than SU and their inflated record with D3 wins.
SU won't even finish in the top 10 in attendance this year so if anybody is not making money, it's ya'll considering ya'll started in the hole at the beginning of the year.

BTW:
Ya'll get paid from the Mobile Classic this year or did ya'll just play that as a charity game again.

 Tell'em Playa

This comes from my buddy who was born and raised in Baton Rouge and comes from a long family of Southernites. He lives in Houston now and he's not going to the game in "silent protest" against the SU administration.

I aint mad at him for not going to game. I aint going to no more Pete coached games outside of the BC. Maybe the JSU game. Certainly not the amount of games I used to go to. But he is wrong about Doug. Doug must have done something to get an interview at Kentucky while at Gram. None of the other SWAC coaches have interviewed for a FBS head coach job that I can think of. Rich Brooks got the job, but Doug was a finalist.

I think some SU folks will not want Doug because he is a Grambling alum. But hell, WC Gorden was not a JSU alum and a graduate of Tn State. Seems like he did well. I know some JSU alums never liked him because he was not a JSU alum but I think they got over it when he was winning.

Even though I doubt Doug is going to be at SU. I wouldn't object to him if he did want the job.

C'mon C-Leb nobody has to tell you that's just ignorant we all have alums/fans that think like that, to shallow thinking to remember that more then over 90% of the coaches aren't that schools alum.

Frat explain how we got screwed out of money from that deal? Even your boy GR said it was a good money maker. LOL. It was his idea all the time.

If we got 80% and that 80% was more than we could make in Mumford then how did we get screwed? The only folks screwed in the deal were the businesses around SU. That's who got robbed of a payday. Other than the principal of the matter of not moving a home game.......money wise it was not a bad deal. Just didn't make sense to move a game like that in our minds and if marketed right it could make more than it has in the past at Mumford. Mofos were just too lazy to think about what they could do to offset capacity issues to make even more money. It will not happen again though.

And next year instead of getting nothing for coming to Jackson, we will get 20% like yall did this year. So it evens out. If anything JSU admin should have just agreed to this for one year. Now yall will not take in the 100% next year. Now the Jackson businesses will make out. They are the real winners in all of this and real losers were Baton Rouge/Scotlandville business owners. Not SU.

As for the Mobile Classic. Sure it was a bad deal. But since a SU alum down there has taken over, we got our checks. Guess yall missed that tidbit in the Advocate the weeks before the game.

Pete isnt going anywhere.

Man, Pete needs to buy him one of them HiWHYann shirts and a straw hat and just have himself a ball next season and have fun on his farewell tour. Hell, don't leave. Stay there and enjoy a full year of paid vacation!

Pete isnt going anywhere.

How do you know? He is saying he wants an extention or he won't coach next year. Did you look at his interview? He is going to find some sucker to take him. Maybe he will go back to WS State as the AD/Coach. He has opportunities out there so he says. Well they just gave him permission to seek them out.

This board that is in place aint the same ones who gave an extention the last time. Only a few of them remain and TC is the board chair. Pete is dealing with different SU folks in charge now. The Chancellor, President of the System are all different from back in 2007 when he went 8-3.

Pete should have kept his mouth closed after the BC loss. But now he just gave SU an out. He gets another job and we get out of paying him to go away and not have to deal with him next year as a lame duck coach.

I wish Pete well. I appreciate what he did in the past. He ran a clean program and restored us back to respectability. But at some point it comes a time to part ways. SU is bigger than Pete. We can't allow ourselves to do what those big PWCs have done with coaches like Bowden and Paterno. At least Joe Pa went out and replaced assistants to help him get better. Pete didn't do that. Unless he is willing to clean house with all his staff then maybe just maybe I can see letting him stay. But he aint going to do that. So he has to pay the price for his loyalty to coaches who brought him to this point at SU.

  My sentiments exactly.

We kept tellng some of y'all that this would come around .... the opportunity for Southern to zoom right past the SWAC is out there .... we just need someone to feel that way about Pete and make a smart decision afterwards.

This is sad
SU is bigger than Pete?
Yall wasnt schit before Pete got there
And you havent been relevant in 5 years
How can SU be bigger than Pete?

I know that is smack but it is true.
The 1975 Pelican Bowl was the last good year SU had Until pete got there in the early 1990's.

Uh GR, a school is bigger than the coach. The football program is bigger than one individual. It is irrevelant that Pete turned a program around. You don't let one man hold you hostage when he aint producing.

Since we aint been revelant in 5 years.......you tell me who's fault is that. Who is the head coach during that 5 years. You are contradicting yourself now.

BTW,
Until a coach does what AW Mumford did at SU......our program will always be bigger than the Head Coach. That's like saying Comegy is bigger than JSU's program because yall were not revelant from 2000-2007. :shame:

Well I take that back.....Comegy is bigger than JSU's program. Literally.

Yep! Pete and his croonies will be there for some more years. I think Tony C is already drawing up the extension papers now.

So frat, does that mean Fla State should have kept Bowden? I mean they were not isht before he came there.

Should have the Steelers or the Cowboys let Noll and Landry keep coaching as long as they wanted since neither franchise was isht before they became coach? How long do you let someone stay just because they turned your program around but now they aint winning what they are supposed to? Tn had not won a NC before Phil Fulmer took over. You think they should have kept him around? Just asking.

I mean at least SU had history before before Pete. May have been back to the 50s and 60s. But aint like we never won nothing in our football existence like say a Valley or TxSU.

See folks were saying SU was stupid to resign Pete and now folks are saying we are about to do the man wrong now. LOL. I knew this would happen. Oh well.

Stop being stupid Beans. You know exactly what I said up there. And if you believe Tony C is a fan of Pete......oh well.

Well, he sure isnt a enemy of his. I truly believe Tony C will give Pete a 2 yr extension based on his record and wins. Just watch. And after that, Tony will sign the proposal to move all your home games with us to Memorial through 2015.

Southern went

8-3 in 82, 7-4 in 83, 6-5 in 84/85, 5-5 in 86, 7-4 both in 87/88, 6-4 in 89 then we had three losing season before hiring Pete.

I was about to post that Blue. Folks really think we were below .500 in the 80's. All the talent we sent the NFL back then, Otis Washington should be ashamed of himself for not winning a couple of more games a year. That was our problem. We lost to the elite teams in the SWAC. So I would say we were average but always had potential to win more than we did. Of course this is when the SWAC was a lot tougher than it is now. You had Gorden at JSU, Eddie Rob at Gram, Casem at Alcorn until 86, Cooley at Valley.

This is just further proof that there is no need to be scared of Southern. Even decent SU teams can only beat some D2 schools and Alabama State. :lecture:

Bowden only wanted to finish on his terms which meant 1 year goodbye tour at the most with his appointed guy's calling most of the shot's anyway.
The only thing in Florida State football's history before Bowden was Burt Reynolds played there.
It's not like Bowden pulled a "JSU BELL" and took Florida State to 0-11 status.
In Bowdens case, they should not have been calling for his head like they have been although I do think it's time for him to retire.

As for Pete, I said BEFORE he got there, the 1975 Pelican Bowl was the last GOOD YEAR SU had BEFORE he got there.
I said that because of the smack comment and just wanted to see how far back before PETE it was that SU was winning on the regular.
1975-1992 is a long arse time.
Didn't say ya'll had NEVER won anything.

What makes you think that? Who do think told him to go seek those opportunities he was running off at the mouth about? The Chancellor and AD were only relaying the message approved by Tony C.

The old board chair that approved Pete's last contract has been gone over a year now. Obviously you aint paid attention to ole Tony. He is going to want to put his stamp on bringing a coach in. This is the same dude who wants us to play LSU in football. Believe me.......Pete aint in his plans. The look on his face after the BC was priceless.

As for the move of the game.....thanks.....that will help us pay for the next coach. LOL.
