Everything will play itself out next week. Stop the speculation, be patient ,and let things take its course. :flippy:

Hey Blue: The thread got shut down before I answered.

Ahh player, I already address that in another one of your post where you stated SU hadn't done well since 1975 and showed the numbers from early 80's to early 90's showing that you didn't know what you were talking about.

You do realize there isn't one school in the SWAC that has a winning career record against SU right?

Say again?

Same thing.:D
No gold is wasted years and 17 years is a heck of a long time without winning one.
No good seasons from 1976 to 1992.

Re: Hey Blue: The thread got shut down before I answered.

I don't think Blue disputed that. We all know what coaches we had. I was there in the 80s and we had talent. Otis could not coach and squandered opportunities to win games he should have. We played some tight games with JSU during the time I was on the yard even winning in 84. We sent a number of players to the NFL at that time. All Blue is saying is that SU has scoreboard on the lifetime series with everybody in the SWAC. Nothing more and nothing less. Whether it was enhanced by AW Mumford or Pete. The others in between obviously didn't lose enough times to make a difference in that stat.

As for Pete.
Pete won in 93 with all the players Casem had recruited. Eric Randall and company were there already.

So while I give Pete props for all that. It was like ole Doug Williams told us outside the Wynham one year. SU is a great spot to coach and a good coach can win there and do big things. He is right. SU knows this now and will act accordingly. Watch at how many good coaches throw their hat in the ring for that job. It will just like FAMU had their choice of Joe Taylor or Broadway.

And just think we got facilities now to attract someone who can coach. Right now I can coach SU to more than 6 wins a season with all that we have to offer. Especially against these SWAC coaches. LOL.

Re: Hey Blue: The thread got shut down before I answered.

OK player if that helps you sleep better with having won only one championship in a decade and being 3-7 after fooling yourself that y'all was going to win it all...roll with it.

No matter after it all said and done there isn't one school in the SWAC that has a winning record over SU roll with it dude.

So 8-3 or 7-4 bad seasons? Especially when you look at what coaches and players SU lost to back then. You are talking about legendary coaches at Alcorn, Gram, and JSU back then. Players that were getting drafted on the regular. The SWAC was way tougher then than it is now. This is also playing a non conference schedule with the Nicholls States, Tn States, and FAMUs on it every year.

17 years is a long time considering I don't think SU really got serious about their football like they should have back then. The fan base was there. But the hires were suspect. They gave too many folks with no college head coaching experience chances. Aside for Marino coming in as our AD and took over the coaching duties when they fired Otis.....we didn't even try to hire guys with college head coaching experience. So I blame those 17 years squarely on SU administration. Thank goodness Dr. Spikes had the good sense not to repeat mistakes made by the presidents before her.
