Ok Sippians.
This is the start of a new era in Highschool football in Mississippi.
Class 6A has been added and now we have school's that have dominated their class now moving up in class.
Out of all the classes, from top to bottom, I pick class 5a as the nightmare class although 6a is top heavy with a bunch of beast's..
Class 6A is about the same as the old 5A.
Question of this year is in class 2A in my opinion.
CAN PUCKET, WHO DOMINATED CLASS 1A FOREVER WHO HAS POSTED A 57-7 RECORD, INCLUDING A 52-2 RECORD UNDER THEIR HEAD COACH THE LAST 4 YEARS, AND WENT UNDEFEATED LAST YEAR DO THE SAME IN 2A.
Get this.
For the first time in 6 year's Puckett is not rated the top school in their class.
They are rated the 5th best in their 1st year in 2a.
They return Jeremy Palmer who rushed for 2,241 yards and 30 TD's last year.
Another shocker in 6a.
For the first time in 8 years, The University of South Panola is #2 in the Super Poll.
I see some mad Tigers comming out of Batesville led by BIG PARKER.
I see S. P claiming the 1st 6A state title but they will have to get past #1 ranked Madison Central who is also loaded this year.
(I still say if BIG was not hurt, Meridian would not be state champs.
They could not handle Big Parker on a messed up ankle).

Madison Central--Locked, loaded and loving it at #1 in Super 10 poll
Poor mouthing might be the oldest of all coaching tactics, one perfected by Alabama's legendary Bear Bryant.
Just don't expect any such talk around Madison Central this fall.
High expectations? The Jaguars are embracing and adding to them, not running the other way.
MC kicks off the 2009 season as the No. 1 team in The Clarion-Ledger Super 10 football rankings - and Jags coach Bobby Hall is glad to hear it.
Unfamiliar territory for University of South Panola at #2 in Super 10 Poll
The winning streak ended last December.
South Panola's four-year run as the state's No. 1 ranked team in the preseason Super 10? Well, that has now come to an end, too.
Oh, and the Tigers return just two starters on defense and five on offense.
So what is it that has third-year Tigers coach Lance Pogue so thrilled about the 2009 season?
#3 ranked Oak Grove ready for title run as #3 in Super 10 Poll.[/U][/B]
Oak Grove Warriors
Coach: Nevil Barr (209-97, 27th season)
2008 record: 12-2 (5A semifinals)
Players to watch: WR Steve McNair Jr., WR Robert Johnson, RB Jay Hughes, DL Vince Taylor, QB James McMahon, LB LeBrandon Mosely.
Don't miss: Oct. 9 vs. Meridian
Outlook: No unit in Mississippi may be more fun to watch than Oak Grove's offense. Hughes, Johnson and McNair can take it the distance at any time, while McMahon has plenty of experience at QB. The O-line is a question mark, but Barr and staff usually find a way to make the Warriors solid up front. The retooled defense has a bonafide star in Taylor.

Winning a Class 5A state championship is the ultimate goal for West Jones, Wayne County and Picayune.
Capturing a Region 3-5A title may prove almost as difficult, however.

Louisville coach Brad Peterson led his alma mater to its seventh state championship last season.

Now Louisville moves from Class 3A to 4A where it will go for title No. 8.

Tylertown aims to be TITLE TOWN.
Walter Denton isn't changing a darn thing.
There's no reason.
The Tylertown coach heads into his 19th season at the school with virtually the same team as last year - when the Chiefs went undefeated before being knocked off by Louisville in the Class 3A championship game.
"We're going to do the same stuff," Denton said

#1 West Boliver set to grind it out.
With his starting running back and three offensive linemen returning, West Bolivar coach Henry Johnson is ready to run the ball.
And his workhorse is 5-foot-10, 220-pound Quintar-ius Banks.
"We want to run that football and hit you in the mouth and play great defense," said Johnson, whose team went 10-3 and lost in the quarterfinals a year ago.
"If we can run it," he added, "we are going to run it."
Puckett unwilling to cede dynasty.
PUCKETT - The sign along Highway 18 welcoming folks to Puckett proudly boasts that the town is home to "300 friendly folks and a few old soreheads."
Perhaps someone may consider adding that the rural Rankin County community is also home to Mississippi's best small-school dynasty this decade.
The Wolves already have three Class 1A state titles this decade, including two (2006 and '08) the last three years. In addition, they've made the short trip to Jackson for the title game each of the past three seasons.

Can Durant fill Puckett's void in 1A .
Teams competing in Class 1A this season have little need for added motivation.
The reigning class champion, Puckett, has moved up to 2A, as has the runner-up, Calhoun City.
"Puckett spoiled it for everybody," Mt. Olive coach Perry Murphy said. "It's a change for the better, the competition level in 1A went up. It will open the door for a lot of schools."
While the door is open, it won't be easy to get through, says says Ashley Kuhn, the coach of preseason No. 1 Durant.
