I know that some of ya'll have started getting your yard together.

Here are some before shots of my yard and as the season goes on I'll post more pics of the best yard on TSPN.

Well, my HOA is talking about I have to have minimum of 2 trees in the front yard, so looks like i'm gonna have to plant one pretty soon. I've still got some brown patches that may have to replace with a few sections but beyond that, it's not too bad right now. The 1 tree I do have is starting to show some green

I close on my Bama home at the end of the month...I'll get some pics of it now, and then by summer's end, you will see my handy work. I missed not being able to work my grass last summer.

Had my first cut, I need to take pics now. I have applied the first round of fertilizer, which is an 8 week slow release. I expect that the grass will start to get a pretty green later this month.

I'm still finding flower indicator sticks (found 4 on Monday) in my strips and I've been here almost 4 yrs. How deep can flower beds go?

First "official" Cut of the year today. I will take some pics for the forum. Put down some Weed Free Zone for those weedz. and will but down my 15-5-10 down mid week next week. ;)

guys, Lets keep this thread going. My yard looked terrible last year due to lack of support from the Brothers/Sisters....

Things aren't as green up north as they are down south. Bluebonnets are JUST beginning to bloom around these parts.:retard: My and the neighbor's yards are still somewhat dormant but do show some signs of trying to green.

Give me until mid-June. lol I'll post some pix when the weather is seasonably warmer.

Not sure if they do this at any of your Home Depots, but I found out from a friend of mine that if you go on the days when they get the new shipments of sod in, they'll be giving away the old sod for free. I plan to investigate this Thursday so I'll let you know what I find out.

Well, here are a handfull of shots after I cut the yard earlier this week. I have a ways to go, but it is looking good so far. In a few of the shots, you can see how far ahead of the neighbors I am. I love yard work!

Looking good man....

Those look great, you can really see the difference when looking at the neighbors. I used to compete with my neighbor too. I have no idea what the new neighbors will be like......

I went to VA last week and saw my old yard, and it still looks great from all the work I did the prior two seasons.....the grass was one of the factors that the guy cited when he made an offer.

My yard looks like crap. At first I wasn't going to do anything, but now I'm feeling embarrass by it. The county and Verizon did me wrong by digging up my yard on multiple occasions.

Fellas, at this point in the year, is there anything I can do? Is it too late to put down seed??? Weed Control??? Fertilizer? I got to do something. I even thought about hiring somebody.

Its not too late to fertilize. I'm doing that and weed control this weekend. April in Texas is usually rain season so its best to do this now based on where you live. I on know but if I were you Verizon would be footing the bill for my yard. Unless you were installing some special kind of underground upgrade for your personal usage.

That is for sho; I don't care if they dig up my yard b/c when they finish, I am getting top grade sod...at their expense.....:kaioken:

Also, I concur with QFunk; this is the best time of year to get the preliminary stuff done; it is not too late. Try to get it out right before that "Jesus water" (rain) comes down...

Thanks. Will do.

You can't get any money for utility work, because every yard has an easment for the purpose of utility work. Unless you live in an area with above ground utilities, you will just have to deal with the utility work. Check your property survey.

The best way to fix it is to level the ground, remove any and all rocks, and drop some sod on it. You can cover utility work with a few stips of sod. The water and fertilize it, and by summers end, you can have it to a point that you won't be able to see the difference. Two years back, after utility work, I even collected by grass clippings and used that to fill in a bare spot. The clippings were like seeds and mulch working together. If the sod is not an option, by one of the grass seed kits that are made for patches....they work well, and work pretty fast.

Looking good...... I might have a little competition this year for the best yard on TSPN.

I know you have had that place up for sale for awhile, hope it goes thru.

It's not too late for this years season, depending on where you are you may be at the right place and time to get it going.

You and I both Fiyah. it has been on the market for 12 months. We have had 2 offers, and both fell apart. One family couldn't get approved for their loan, and the second had a contingency and they couldn't seel their old home. This time their are no contingencies......but we are doing a short sale and must get lender approval. We are confident.....

But I am excited about the new yard. Corner lot, bit yard, but they are destroying the grass while completeing the work. I will get it back in shape by summers end.

Styles,
What city are you in?

Like RUN DMC said way back when "HUH! And that's the way it is!" lol Not sure for other states but here in Tx there's a utility easement where the only thing they (util corps) are required to do is fill the earthen hole back up w/ dirt/etc as required. They do not have to beautify it. I went down that road once w/ a local telephone corp after they knocked down my rear fence. :emlaugh:

Fi, I said this earlier and I still think it's very true. Everything down south is a lot greener/fuller than stuff in the northern sector of Texas. Because of that and coupled w/ the fact that y'all get a TON of more rain than we do here, it's only natural that everything there is a lot greener/prettier. But, I've been living @ a local feedstore and I got the secret of grey skull. :read: Check this out, I'm killing my neighbors, all of them, w/ the thick green/lush stuff (Berm):

I snapped it on the way in earlier this a.m. I'll try to take some pix of the backyard and more of the entire front that borders my neighbor. He had some relatives come from the Longview area and I saw them working out in his yard (spreading something :read: ) a few weeks ago and whatever it was, it's greened/lushed his up just like mine. Also, because the crib sits on a hill, an underground pipe to the sprinkler system has cracked/leaked and it's going to require a dig through the yard to find the leak. :( Also, I'll try to post some pix of the front yard (one acre, literally lol) that I installed a sprinkler system on. We all have wells out in the rural so I have his programmed for morning/evening every day (during peak hot times) and every 3rd day-twice on the day (currently) since water is freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. His yard was greener than all get out (St Aug).

What do you mean "returning to #1"?

You had to have been #1 to return to it, I haven't been knocked off the Throne.
