I know we have talked about a playoff for the FBS ad nauseum, but you can't tell me that USC should not have played for the national title this year.

They are just too good on both sides of the ball, and have the best coach in the country. I think it is a shame the Trojans can't have a shot at the BCS title game because of politics.

And add the fact that the Pac-10 is about to be 5-0 in bowl games.

I definitly believe they are the best team in the nation but there far too many folks who think the Pac 10 is weak.

They should be in the nat'l title game but they couldn't recover from the loss against those two Rodgers kids from Oregon State.

I heard something on the radio yesterday that said Florida and Oklahoma both loss after USC. Which shows the affect of the percieved thoughts about the Pac 10 being weak.

Quite possibly they could be. They are definately the most talented and has arguably the best coach but there is no playoff system so I guess we'll never know.

And that is the sad part. :shame: And that is one of the reasons why I don't like these bowl games.

The same weak Big Ten team that waxed Oregon State (who beat USC)?

Penn State is a good football team. USC is just better than almost every team they play.

Who is Oregon State  . After this game, The Big Ten will be 1-5 in Bowl Games  .

Kendrick, let's not get carried away.

The PAC 10's regular season out of conference record wasn't good at all. One of the better PAC 10 teams in Oregon State lost to Utah and by 4 TD's to Penn State earlier in the year, yet that same Oregon State team beat USC.
Boise State even beat Oregon, another top team in the PAC 10 and California lost to an average Maryland team.

The bowl games are not a true indicator of how good a conference might be. You can't tell me that the top three or four teams in the SEC or Big 12 wouldn't have a better head to head matchup record against the top four teams in the PAC 10.

Simply put, if USC wants more recognition, they need to play better out of conference teams and/or the other PAC 10 teams will have to win in their out of conference games.

USC by far has the best coaching staff in college football. It took them a quarter to figure out Penn State's defensive scheme, now they are picking them apart. Penn State poor defensive coaches have yet to make some adjustments.

If Pete Carroll could find a way to motivate his players when teams like Stanford, Oregon St, UCLA, ect then this wouldn't even be a discussion because they would be playing for the National title every year almost.

One could argue that USC is partially the reason the reason the Pac-10 is down. They have the West Coast on lock as far as recruiting. The rest of the Pac-10 gets the scrubs.

I wouldn't say "by far". It doesn't take a genious to throw the ball to the middle of the zone. Plus there's no substitute for speed and quickness.

Penn State's defense is making an average QB in Sanchez look like an All-American. Ohio State played USC much better than Penn State's doing. They would've been the better Big 10 representative.

Yep hands down.

USC has been playing solid OCC opponents since Pete Carroll got there. They've played at Va. Tech, at Auburn, Arkansas and Virginia. They hosted Ohio State and will go to Columbus next season.

I don't know what more USC can do short of going undefeated.

Sure, they slip up once a year, but that does not mean USC should be shut out of the national title picture because they lost a road game on a Thursday night the third week of the season.

Just look at Pete Carroll's record against Top 10 teams and that will tell you the story about how good the Trojans are.

Ohio State does not have four 5-star running backs, an All-American TE and WRs who are 6-4, 6-5, 6-3 and 6-2 who run 4.3s and 4.4s.

Not to mention USC has the No.1 defense in the nation.

Come on Jayrob. The kid has actually been playing hurt the majority of the season.

I give credit to USC's defense a lot more than than I'd give to their offense.
Dude wasn't all that impressive against Oregon State, Arizona or California.

I look at it this way, the score was 7-7 after the first quarter. One team made adjustments while the other team does nothing. After being expose you would think a team would try to change something. I mean at least try to bum-n-run the receivers. That second quarter was disastrous for Penn State.

The Big Ten doesn't have the speed to play bump and run. USC haven't faced a legit SEC team since Pete has been @ USC.
