ummm, I can't believe Robert Randolph was not chosen, especially after looking at the picks on the 2nd team.

I was thinking the SAME thing.... I kept looking at both first and second team and was wondering why he was left off....

also Nic Luke is an OK running back, but he wont even start this year for AAMU.

You'd be a fool to pick them higher than 4th.

Re: Hornets Are Picked to Win it All, With Offensive and Defensive POTY

Man..i think it's bad news to be predicted SWAC offensive POTY in the preseason...for more than just the weight of expectations...

weren't Mike Hayes and Bruce the last two preseason POTYs...and both of them had season-ending injuries in the first game...

Now...Alabama State is in the unusual position of being the squad that has the bull's-eye on its back, the hunted, the defending champion...This will be the true test to whether the Hornets can sustain as a top dog (pardon the pun) in the SWAC.

MH...I'm surprised as hell too that Randolph wasn't picked...IMO, he's better than Mayes...

Gram picked first in the West, I have no problem with that. But, what does it say to the rest of starting QBs in the conference when Bruce don't play a year and still gets a 2nd-team nod...Is that more out of respect to Bruce or has the QB crop in the SWAC thinned out that much with graduations...

Actually, I'm kind of glad SU's been picked 2nd in the west...unlike the last two years....this SU squad is a veteran bunch on offense..on the flip side...this squad is probably in between 2003 and last year's defensive units in term of experience...so that'll be fun to watch...

J-state picked last in the preseason..what the hell? The apocalypse is drawing nigh TSPNers.....

BTW: Cletis Gordon shoulda been offensive POTY...lol

Montgomery, Alabama ! ! ! ! !

I know it just pre-season, but how often do you see the defensive AND offensive POTY picks from the same hometown?

Oh by the way, Keldrick Williams is also from Montgomery, Alabama ! ! ! ! !

Forget the West Coast Offense, here comes Montgomery's Westside Offense ! ! !

Home grown HORNETS, running the SWAC.

That is where I picked them also. No way they beat anyone in the East (not even Valley).

No, Gordon should have been defensive POTY. He has two spots by himself on the 1st defensive team.

You guys are going to be shocked.

Re: Hornets Are Picked to Win it All, With Offensive and Defensive POTY

I may have gone with Williams Keldrick over Jackson Tarvaris for Offensive POTY.

I probably would've picked Gordon Cletis on defense, but maybe they couldn't see giving it to someone from the team they're picking last.

IMO, I don't see State Jackson being last in the East either. I guess I'm just not as high on Nelson Aries and Valley Mississippi as most folks are.

Let's see which of y'all can decode that shat...lol...I'm actually glad, but can we get the name (and height...lol) right? :bump:

I don't either. I see what Bell is trying to do, but for some reason it just isn't clicking.

seeing how Bell did beat PB and Gram, Sperm's and SOGGY's comments are not too surprising.

Re: Hornets Are Picked to Win it All, With Offensive and Defensive POTY

No surprises here. MH's team is picked first and he still has JSU in his head. Typical. And I don't mind being picked last. Heck I welcome it if it motivates the players and coaches. I learned years ago when we were picked first every year that this pre-season stuff is just fodder for the fans.

It started to last year. Better play calling this year will help a lot.

SOGGY....I had it right in the first place..
Cletis was, and is, Bell's primary offensive weapon..like i said before..he was responsible for damn near all JSue's wins last season..

BTW....re-read what I said...i put "lol" beside that statement about Cletis..."lol" implies I was joking...

But seriously..he shoulda been defensive POTY also...

Re: Hornets Are Picked to Win it All, With Offensive and Defensive POTY

OH BTW - Mighty Hornet, I need to correct you on the title of this thread. The Hornets were not picked to win it all. Just picked to win the East.
