Yall say what yall want about the Saints Defense BUT:

Honestly..

The Saints was given the game. If you called that tackle a textbook tackle. I call that last catch in overtime an incompletion.

Not ONE angle showed that ball touching the ground... get over it man..

WHO DAT!!!

Since when has "Lift and Drop" been a part of textbook tackling?!...:retard:

What are they teaching yall in Louisiana?...

At any rate...even if "lift and drop" were a part of the equation..."droping" doesnt include driving your shoulder down into the person you're tackling. That "usually" gets a flag...esp, on a QB.

I believe they did flag the Saints for that hit. Were you watching the same game?

Ah, yes. Even if I didn't, what does that matter?

I never said whether I agreed or disagreed with the call. I was talking about that whole "lifting and droping" thing.

What are you talking about? Trying to figure out an angle to call me a Saints hater?...:retard:/:lol:

You did said, "that "usually" gets a flag", which means they didn't. If you forgot what you typed, please read below.

Thats what I was taught as early as 7th grade... They didn't teach that in other states???:noidea:

:retard::retard:...omg. Really?!...:lol:

I know what I typed. And, I think YOU need to re-read what I typed, and the context that it was under, again.

Even with what you typed....How does "usually" equate to "didn't" or "did"?...:retard: "Usually", in the case that I used it, falls under the "Probability" umberella.

"Did or Didn't" is something that's definite. Something either did or didn't happen.

So, once again, what are you talking about?...:retard:

At any rate...you completely missed my point. And, you did that by convienantly selecting what you wanted to read and quote from me, cuz you're trying hard to paint me as the "Saints hater"..

Where in this responce does it say WHO was flagged? NOWHERE. Where does it say whether someone got a flag or not? NOWHERE. Why?! Because I was talking about tackling technique. Not who hit who illegally...or, who got flagged for what.

You drop low (breaking yourself down for a tackle), make sure you square your hips and drive through the tackle, while making sure you wrap up. Driving someone into the dirt with your shoulder (like Brett and Brees did) ain't in anyone's technique book.

From watching little league practices and run-thru's through the college ranks...I ain't ever seen a coach teach someone to lift and drop. Im not saying you won't have tackles that look like that thru just the natural flow of the game. But, to be taught that...:retard: If you think that's right, then so be it.

Since the beginning of time when it wasn't being played like a bunch of sissies and QB's were football players too.

Scatter brain logic at it's best.:retard:

You didn't post that off of Theisman saying "he" thought it was a good hit, did ya? ...:retard:/:lol:

Ol' arse Theisman?... Of course, he thinks it's legal. He thinks everything in the pocket short of using army artillery is legal...

Most football players do, notice you didn't hear or see Brett complaining about it.

I believe O'Bladerunner was more concerned about Brett than Brett's wife. Him has a soft spot in his heart for Brett.

smh.. This is some "new" shyt I am experiencing from "blade"....

We did get flagged for that play.... I guess he wanted a flag for every hit put on Favre....

Only thing that explains blade's constant negative talk about the Saints is hate.. maybe he want the Texans in the same spot as the Saints.....:shame:

The Jets had the best defense in the NFL. The Saints ain't hardly on that level. The Jets sacked Manning twice on the Colts 1st two possessions. Didn't come close after that. And for all the hits the Saints put on Brett, a lot of them were downright late and illegal. Manning ain't gonna hold that ball long. At all. When he finishes his drop, he's releasing it, even if that means throwing it away. So, if the Saints devise an excellent scheme/blitz to get to Manning, be sure to use it at the right time. Do like the Jets and unleash it at the start of the game, Manning will figure it out and counter.

There were NO late hits on Favre. One hit was called illegal because he was lifted and dropped and the other was after a handoff where Favre was trying to sell a fake. Those were flagged and I have no problem with those being called.

The so called "Brady rule" play was when dude was already on the ground and rolled onto Favre's legs. Good no call.

I thought everyone was taught like that... When I came down to BR and coached youth ball, I preached the "double hit" that our coach taught us. You hit them and drive them to the ground...thus it's a "double hit". Not dirty...just hard nosed Louisiana football.

Only a Saints fan would say the Saints weren't hitting Favre late. And that dude was not on the ground when he hit Brett low. Brett hit the ground before that guy did.

Dude, every Aints fan I talked to (excluded from this board) said that those hits were late and illegal. They were talking about trying to get inside Brett's head.

Clearly, that guy simply went low at Brett. Dove straight below the knees. Illegal. Do that to Manning and he gone get ejected.

Robber,

Can't see your picture, but if you're talking about the one with Bobby McCray crawling trying to get to Favre then I didn't thnk it was illegal or dirty. I thought he was simply on the ground and trying to grab whatever part of Favre he could get his hands/pads on. Seriously, I think those type plays are more or less judgement calls by the officials. I can understand if he goes for the man knees from an upright position, but he was on the ground himself and trying to get whatever piece of Favre he could.

I don't advocate dirty play or cheap shots...but hitting someone and driving them to the turf in one motion (as opposed to lifting them up, taking steps and then driving them to the turf) is clean and hardnosed football. Same thing with the attempt to tackle him while you're on your knees...what are you supposed to do, get up and tackle him high? That's not realisitic in real-time.

Now, the hit by McCray after the handoff, I can KINDA/SORTA understand. But that sends a message to Favre and the playcaller...don't fake it to see if I'm not checking against a bootleg or waggle pass play off the bootleg. That hit took away that possibility on future calls. In other words, I take the penalty to make sure he knows not to try and set that up.

This is true.

I see you and Robber have a soft spot in your hearts for Brett Favre. Sounds like you and Robber need to stop watching football and start watching the Lifetime Channel more. At least you'll be able to curl up on a couch, cry your eyes out, blow your nose, and use up several boxes of tissue without being mad at us.
