I am not a graduate of SU but I have SU, grads in my family that dates back to the 60s. but something I will add.. Southern needs to look at Xavier University of LA, Dr. Francis has been there for how long and is the longest serving president in the nation, he is retiring after this year..He has built XULA, to what it is today. But if you ever see him speak, he has made it known, the reasoning for his success as a president, and XULA,success, was

All state supported schools have been impacted. Not just SU.
Considering that Xavier is private, with a completely different organizational build, I don't know if that's the best example to use considering that Southern is a public institution.
You are missing my points,, SU is adding fuel to the fire, by making horrible decisions,,, yes you are being UNDERFUNDED,, and CUT, but why are you making YOURSELF AN EASY TARGET, WITH NEGATIVE PRESS, AND Being PRIVATE, has nothing to.do with it.. PUT PEOPLE IN POSITIONS THAT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.. AND GET RID OF THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DOING NOTHING, BUT COLLECTING A CHECK.

But x001, you're missing the point. sU would rather stay on probation, have sub-zero APR scores, and fist fight every school in all sports, than do the right thing. Plain and simple, they would rather live in a tin single trailer while driving a Bentley. That's just how they were raised.

Xavier isn't the point. What was done at Xavier is the point.
And I'm saying comparing apples to oranges to make a moot point just for the sake of it is rhetorically lazy and adds nothing to the debate. Trying to compare a state supported, NCAA member institution to that of a private, NAIA member institution IS NO COMPARISON.
And if the point is to simply say, "SU needs to hire qualified folks for various positions", then hell, just say it. There is no need for false comparisons.

For every mid-1990s FAMU under Dr. Humphries ... there's a South Carolina State nowadays.
For every boom-time 1990s, there's the recession of the 2010s and state houses slashing higher education nation wide.
Xavier isn't your ordinary HBCU since it's bankrolled by the Catholic Church. Backing wise, it's probably the most stable of private HBCUs ... maybe of all HBCUs.
Due to the nature of schools, you can do things at Xavier that you can't do a public institution and vice versa. (NOTE: If you think hook-ups and nepotism is a uniquely Louisiana thing, then you must not know higher education that well).
As much as it sucks that Dr. Broussard's getting that Johnson from the BOS ... they need to be more concerned about GRAD Act, helping increase faculty/student morale and creating/maintaining a vigorous curriculum than fiddling with athletics. Unlike Southern, SACS hit SC State with charges that their board interfered with athletics too much.

All because of Xavier’s sudden decision in 1960 to disband all sports.
At the time, Washington, a junior, was a two-sport All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference athlete, playing guard and linebacker on the football team and catcher on the baseball squad.
The last captain on what became the final football team of 40. Men mostly forgotten.
“I was really kind of angry,” said Washington, a 2015 inductee into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame who lives in Baton Rouge.

That's basically all I was saying. Rallying outside the board meetings in mass unison speaks volumes. It will show the board and su's leaders that it's alumni are tired of the poor decisions and negative press the school is constantly getting.
Some of these folks would rather things be swept under the rug than actually taking a stand together.
Start by making noise with their pocketbooks (i.e.: boycotting), on-campus rallies and rallying outside board meetings. Invite every media outlet in the state, utilize radio station outlets, start a website to invite to campus every su alumnus who can make it, including political figures from su and Grambling.
The rallying cry can simply be "Enough Is Enough".
Seems like NOTHING is being organized to counteract the foolishness that's going on at that campus by su's board.
