Who Agrees with the Odums Philosophy Relative to Transfers?

Kincaid had the most impact of transfers on Grambling team. The other guys should've been in the conference from the start, they were good players but not a stand out talent from everybody else like Kincaid. Kincaid was on a hole other level talent from everybody in the conference.

I will venture to say Kincaid’s the most impactful QB transfer since Therriault

I completely disagree. It works for championships as well. It boils down to coaching to win championships. Look at your 2014 team. Coaching changed the mentality of the team to nearly making the championship. And if you bring in xfers that don't work out, physically, then no ships. Coaching in this league wins championships.

Since Fobbs has been at GSU has Odums system worked versus Fobbs in head to head contest and the output on winning championship?

See what you are using is conjecture rather than empirical evidence that can be compared. You cannot utilize 2014 because that was Fobbs first year. You have to start at 2015 which was Fobbs first recruiting class and compare the two. The first recruiting class is the baseline.

Therefore starting from 2015 how has Fobbs system compared in the gauge of success.

Yall were given a forfeit in 1972 because the game wasn't played. Technically that's not 9 in a row.

SMH...... so are you in charge of maintaining the record? Maybe you need to contact those in charge...if not stop trying to be specific. LOL

"SU who in charge over Bayou Classic stats over there."

Odums will get asked these same questions yearly as long as he is on the losing side of the equation. Fans reaction is to defend their own. Grambling supports the Fobbs way. Southern supports the Odums way. The results is all that matters. When the fans start asking the same questions is when a coach is in trouble.

I side with the Jags on this one.

Your statements proves one thing.....that GSU people are logical thinking individuals who don't mind disagreeing. I'm not agreeing with you but I'm glad you disagreed.

I get so sick and tired of people agreeing because of pride. I don't agree with all things GSU like when our players boycotted JSU. That was the most cowardice thing I have ever seen in college athletics. The players should have boycotted their own homecoming rather than stripping some JSU seniors of theirs.

But hey some GSU folk say it was needed to get the weight room fixed.....SMH

Now let's get back to this discussion.

I really want SU folks to define what football success is to them.

To GSU people success is going to the Celebration Bowl....a great season is winning the Celebration Bowl.

As a GSU supporter I will take a "L" to a Broadway coached team any day. That man was a hell of a coach.

SU folk want to utilize any and every excuse to note why they can't win the SWAC since Fobbs is head coach of GSU. First it was APR...now it's recruiting methods....

If Odums system is not working then he may need to change it. Yet, first, Odums needs to define the goal.

If my goal is to drive to Baton Rouge from Grambling in the most efficient manner to save gas and I keep taking the same route but never try a different route....then have I saturated the environment to determine the best manner to travel? No. Fobbs has found the best way to proceed by taking notes of other programs that are successful.

Plain and simple...Fobbs has a system and he searches for players to fit that system to win. He is a proven winner being 32-2 in conference play in 4 years. Fobbs is 39-11 overall in four years while Odus is 28-18.

SWAC Play - 32-2 (Fobbs) ...... 24-11 (Odums)

Odums one SWAC Championship

Fobbs two SWAC Championships

At the present time I will not consider the Celebration Bowl because if I'm not mistaken SU could not participate thus not allowing a fair empirical examination of the two because there is not true control.

Does each system work....yes...which works better? Well the records speak for themselves because numbers don't lie.

As an SU Jag winning the Celebration Bowl is a successful season to me. Truth be told as for me I believe in Coach O. I believe his system works, I believe not having spring practice hurt our ball club in the long hall. Do I think Coach Fobbs is a better coach than Coach O? No!! I believe having Coach Dooley he benefited from for 4 years. This season coming up is going to tell me can Coach Fobbs really coach after Coach Dooley departure. Also my Jags was one stop away from beating Gram in 2017. Difference was Kincaid (Dooley) not Coach Fobbs.

Perhaps Fobbs is just a better coach than Odums.
Odums defensive schemes have been atrocious at times.
His offense is usually decent but he still can't field a decent defensive scheme, especially against out of conference opponents.
Defensive schemes, specify? Because it depends on the situations on each play.

And you are comparing head-head wins for your argument by saying your "players" were better!!! Then, one would have to say the players are the difference. This is why I disagree. Both philosophies work!!! Neither school has gone a complete route of all x-fers or all hi-schoolers.

Quit trying to make this a "we're better than you" situation....

In some cases, he Fobbs has made better adjustments. A number of SU folks have been unhappy with some of the "wins" we have. The shootout with Bama St. The win 2 years ago at PV. Last year in Little Rock. Seems like coaching wouldn't put teams away with playcalling and defensive schemes which lead into games being much closer than they should have.

Fobbs is a Grambling man. No one can be more passionate about explaining our rich and storied legacy like a Coach Rob protege. Listen to the G-Men (e.g. Kincade, Chad Williams, Christmas, Martez, etc.) when they are interviewed and how they embrace the aura and mystique of Icon Gram.

Transfer or incoming freshman - Fobbs instills the Grambling legacy and pride in the G-Men. This is a huge intangible those not close to the program do not understand. The “G” is recognized from from the Atlantic shores of Maine to the Hawaiian archipelago. Our brand instills pride in itself.

Grambling is an Icon and because of our indelible standing and blueprint for success we will continue to attract key transfers and big time talent from the high school ranks. Watch out for our youngsters out of the high school ranks, which will be the foundation of our next wave of SWAC titles.

I did not read all the threads but would it be fair to define transfers for the sake of this discussion. I would think that a JUCO even though a transfer would be different than a FBS transfer. I do appreciate the balance of brining in the JUCOs to balance things out. Now the FBS is a different animal. Some are good but most are running from something and it does impact your APR Index if they do not graduate. After that last semester playing football they drop out to get ready to the draft or FA.

What is your baseline on working?

Ok, how many SWAC games between Fobbs and Odums would lead the winner to be in the SWAC Championship? Which coach won? What is the record?

If we are to compare coaches we should definitely examine their head to head competition as well as overall. Presently, in both of their initial four years Fobbs has dominated the SWAC. Odums can not make that argument. In a 4 year period Is it 3-1 Fobbs.

Forget working that is intangible and not able to be truly measured because first you have to define “working”.

Odums needs to focus on Southern more than he focuses on Grambling. He mentioned the transfer debate in November but its very ironic, he has more transfers coming in this season or Southern fans were lying about the transfers coming in, go figure.

Lets be clear, the NCAA reduction in time was for the turnover rate than happened when Fobbs first came, after Dougs second stint. It's all about winning and Fobbs wants to win, Odums just hating and making excuses.
