What did u think of SWAC week 1

Re: What did u think of SWAC week 1......

SU should've used it's quickness on defense and put eight or nine in the box to stop the run. Based on watching them last year, Tenn. State has a pathetic passing game. You stop their run, you beat 'em easily.

It's not often I agree with anyone from JSU lol, but TNSU's passing game sucks big time. Most of their passing yards came on broken down plays, we missed out on some coverage sacks. Their defense is not that great either, our offense was able to move the ball, but couldn't convert on 3rd downs. Also their defense likes to jump the snap, so I would recommend switching up the QB cadences and snap counts to throw them off if they start getting blitz happy. If JSU can protect the Casey he could have a huge day against TNSU's secondary. They couldn't stop our receivers, we just didn't get the ball to them enough.

I Blame the OC! What the hell is he thinking when calling a play! I could get some band guys and stop this offence!

Nope they lost about 10 players from that team(eligibility issues)...And we won't get into the homecooking. My point again was you acted like we didn't watch SWAC TV and see the game. You started your thread from the point that we didn't see Valley like you did and I just pointed out that we did.

what you are saying still makes no sense. Everybody saw the Alcorn vs. Grambling game on tv also, but folks are still commenting on what THEY thought of week 1.

You probably hit the nail on the head there. The defense is better than last season overall from a talent and speed prospective. But just too thin and small up front. But you are correct on the 8 man in the box. That should have been the strategy. Make them beat you with the pass.

Bruh, if you and Jay Rob can see this and know what adjustments need to be made, why can't the Coach's see this??? Jay Rob see's TN St. every season and know's their weakness, but our people who are paid to evaluate, plan and execute can't.......... SOMETHING'S WRONG! ::noidea:

I agree. They definitely took better angles to the ball, stayed home on ball fakes/gadget plays, and weren't out of place as much as I'm use to seeing. They need to work harder at getting off of those blocks much quicker, and I know TNSU was doing some grabbing and holding around the shoulder pad area, but that's why they have to use their quickness to get around the bigger offensive linemen.

If we don't score any type of points Saturday then Stump need to go somewhere or get somebody else to call plays. Defense held TnSU to 6 points in the 2nd half and one touchdown our offense gave away. We still have to score more then 7 points if we want to beat anyone.

Exactly. JSU is going to kill them though.
