If the only way to "get through" to your Black sons is to beat them and slap them in the face, you are no better than the white supremacists who think the only way to control adult Black males is to stuff them in jails or shoot them in the streets.

That's one of the many questions that would get totally overlooked. And why is it that the only child she had to do this was her one male child? I guess her daughters can't do wrong or losing one of them won't be a big problem since there are 5 of them.

You have zero to base your question on, yet you persist with this. Maybe the girls just got better sense. Maybe they at work. Maybe they hanging with one of their baby daddies. Nobody knows. We do know where his ass was, and his mama told him not to go there.

And you have zero to base your questions on, but you persist the mother was completely right to do what she did. It seems like our so-called more intelligent people rather push their argument instead of coming up with the root causes of the problems that PERSIST in the Black family. But I'm sure it all fits into their equation on how much they would profit from the troubling situations in most Black families.

I guess after watching racist White cops tear apart a young Black male, she had to step in and take charge of her only male child's life. Yes the problem is more complex, because it has more to do with what is going on behind the scenes.

I guess CT is doing the same since she was the first to point this out and there's probably no other woman on here that is as pro-woman as CT. It has nothing to do with demonizing women and making Black men as victims, but it does have a lot to do with the insanity of Black people trying to maintain the institution of white supremacy.

Its amazing to me at how much black folks don't understand and consider shit. With all the facial recognition software, her trying to show his face probably will get him a trumped up FELONY charge whether he did something or not. If he is an adult, she might not like it, but she needed to go have a seat. I've learned this with male children. She is WRONG...afraid but wrong as shit to me. When you beat your kids to keep them from getting killed by cops and no one sees the desperation in that action ... If this entire situation (protests, uprising, damage) in another country, we'd be sending aid to help the oppressed. But in our own country, we can't see the total disregard for human rights that's going on every day, systematically.

Instead, some choose to stray from that and insist on engaging in counterproductive discussion.
 



Okay, the mother was acting out of desperation for her child's well being, but when are we going to get to the ROOT CAUSES of these problems? Watching the video of her slapping her son over and over again and praising her for her actions is absolutely not SOLVING anything.

Your narrow mind is stuck on her actions instead of why she said she had to confront her son in the first place, which speaks to the inability of black people to freely engage in dissent against the state without fear of being retaliated against.

If you are not for engaging in deep thoughtful conversation on what is the ROOT CAUSES of these problems, let me repeat myself, "I'll leave you to your feel good sensation of watching a mother slap her male child". All she has done is put a brief pause to what is expected of him in the future.

Where have I said I wanted anyone to glorify this incident?

I do not like how she and this incident is being exploited by the media. Nor am I in tow with others who see this as good parenting in this situation, but would view this same action as bad parenting in others.

Nonetheless, what she did isn't really an issue in the grand scheme of this entire saga going down in Baltimore.

The issue of police brutality in the wake of Freddie Gray's death is paramount. This should be belabored instead of a mom trying to protect her son.

My point is nobody know what's going on in that woman's house, and throwing out accusations and such don't add anything of value. And that kid not being on video throwing rocks is not evidence that he wasn't doing so. Y'all just going way out the way to make a point. If it weren't for the riots, the media would paint a different picture of that woman. I believe that. But that's what I saw in my neighborhood growing up. My mom and dad got dead on my ass in front of friends no matter where we were. My friends got the same. And a Willie Lynch letter had nothing to do with it.

COSIGN!! My parents, particularly my mom, didn't give two shits who was around, who was watching, or where we were if she felt the need to get on my ass for something. I didn't like it at the time, but looking back on it, she did the right thing.
 
They interviewed the son and mother on CNN. The son admitted that he was out to throw bricks at police because of things that happened to his friends. The son is 16 and the mother works in home health and is looking for a better job. The sister of the young man is trying to be a police officer in Baltimore.

So let's get this right...the son admits to not being up to any good and is underage. Yet, the mother should not have responded like she did?

Oh wait this was an act....carry on.
 
Sadly, it's easy for white people to cosign black people being kept in check by violence, even by their own mothers. I think the issue here, is from that mother's perspective she was saving him from being a cop killing statistic, but the media framed it as her saving him from being a crime statistic.

She's not afraid for him moral character, she's worried that if he vents his frustration he may not make it home.

Many white people don't understand because this isn't a situation their kids will face. Of course if their kids are looting, they'd be appalled. There's no build up of tense relations with the police in their children's history.

The cops probably don't harass their kids and stop them for no reason. If their kids joined a riot, the root would be the rush.

These kids have genuine angst related to this system. They are hurt and frustrated and angry. They're trying to be heard and sadly they don't have the slack that white kids have to do that. They probably won't get community service and a smudge on their record. They'll get real time, real injuries or death.

And that is the root of why she ran upside his head.
